Hello planeswalkers! MTG can be a wonderful escape into a fantasy world. A chance to explore different emotions than your day-to-day ones. I donโ€™t know about you, but Nayaโ€˜s () focus on the wild side of Magic sounds like some high fantasy to me. So what can these wild and passionate themes mean when we talk about preconstructed decks?

There are over 100 Commander precon decks, and all of them have unique playstyles and advantages. With so many options and combinations, itโ€™s beneficial to understand how certain color identities play.

Letโ€™s take a focused look at Nayaโ€™s Commander precons.

What Are Naya Commander Precons?

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored - Illustration by Sam Burley

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored | Illustration by Sam Burley

Naya Commander precons only roster cards that are red, green, and/or white (or colorless) to fit within the color identity of the commander. The Naya trio is known for combining aggressive stompy-ness with wide +1/+1 counter beaters with land and power themes woven in.

Commander precon decks are a non-random set of cards in a deck that are preconstructed and sold as a single product. These decks are formatted for Commander and include a commander and backup commanders to lead the deck. Theyโ€™re built around themes, color synergies, and certain color-specific playstyles. Commander precons are considered a level 1 or 2 deck in the Commander Bracket and are considered a baseline for judging other decks.

#11. Nature of the Beast

Nature of the Beast Commander 2013 Precon

Deck Theme

Nature of the Beast has almost too many different themes and subthemes. When you look at Marath, Will of the Wild, it seems to be about +1/+1 counters, but there are also plenty of landfall, beast, and power-matters cards. I guess the underlying theme here is to build a large mana pool to play massive beasts, benefit from landfall, and power through removal.

Commanders

Marath, Will of the Wild is a versatile commander that can turn +1/+1 counters on it into many different outcomes. This commander enters with counters equal to its casting cost, which incentivizes you to play it multiple times, and commander tax is only a small detriment. You can remove counters at instant speed to deal direct damage or create new creature tokens. The commander might be my favorite part about this deck, as it probably should be.

The backup commanders for this precon can be Gahiji, Honored One and Mayael the Anima. Gahiji fits as the leader of a beast deck in multiplayer formats, incentivizing attacks against other opponents. Mayael is a fantastic commander to get creatures onto the battlefield from the top of your deck if you donโ€™t draw what you need.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of this deck have to be the number of big creatures and the sheer willpower of riding with big bodies and removal. Itโ€™s quite a simple deck in that many of the creatures have different effects and playstyles. Apart from some beast and landfall payoffs, you can surprise your opponents with almost every big creature you play.

This strength can also be considered a weakness in some regards. I donโ€™t feel that the connection or interaction between the creatures and other cards supports an overall competitive theme. I like more of a goal or synergies in my Commander decks.

Notable Cards

This Naya precon is about beasts, so you need some big baddies like Rampaging Baloths and Crater Hellion. This deck also includes some beast and big creature support in Krosan Warchief and Rakeclaw Gargantuan, respectively.

Some other creature cards I like are Eternal Dragon for its plainscycling and recursion ability, and Magus of the Arena for its ability to act as removal with your massive creatures.

Most of the noncreature spells are just support or removal, but I especially like Warstorm Surge and Where Ancients Tread for their high damage upside.

#10. Cabaretti Cacophony

Cabaretti Cacophony Commander Precon

Deck Theme

A simple lesson from history is that while you develop your own strength, it helps if others focus on different targets. Cabaretti Cacophony wants to build an army of creature tokens while goading opponents into attacking each other. This more diplomatic deck has you slowly build an army until you can attack with a critical mass.

Commanders

I believe there would be better Naya commanders like Jemir, Nexus of Revels for this playstyle, but Kitt Kanto, Mayhem Diva fits the mold well. This commander isnโ€™t the biggest token creator, but in this deck, itโ€™s a modest price of tapping two creatures to goad your opponentsโ€™ creatures. The cheap mana value and goad abilities make this a very playable commander.

As an alternative commander, Gahiji, Honored One fits much better into this goad strategy than in the Nature of the Beast precon. Phabine, Boss's Confidant is a more expensive commander option, but it provides solid creature token creation and pump, especially in multiplayer formats.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strength of this deck comes from its slow ramp and development. You can create a ton of chump blockers to hopefully save you from some aggro decks, and you have enough politicking to keep you from being the target of many attacks. With the goad ability, you have some great protection while you develop your battlefield.

The weakness of this deck is its inability to respond to noncreature decks. If you arenโ€™t goading and getting opponents to kill each other, that probably means that other players are using some noncombat, noncreature strategies. This deck is very susceptible to board wipes and non-combat spells that target every player.

Notable Cards

The strategy is to goad opponents to distract them and develop your own army of creature tokens. Some of the great defensive and goad cards of this precon are Agitator Ant, Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs, and Orzhov Advokist. To develop your own army, cards like Scute Swarm, Grand Crescendo, and March of the Multitudes are killer!

And donโ€™t forget small creature token armies' best friends, one-sided board wipes like Fell the Mighty and Martial Coup.

#9. Deadly Disguise

Deadly Disguise Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Deadly Disguise is all about turning face-down cards face up. This involves the morph, megamorph, and disguise abilities. With these face-down mechanics, you add three elements to your play: You divert costs for another time to efficiently use your mana, you gain an element of surprise in turning face-down cards up at any time, and you have many interactions that come with morph-like abilities.

Commanders

Kaust, Eyes of the Glade is a wonderful leader for a morph Commander deck. This Naya commander can make combat tricky for opponents who donโ€™t know what kind of face-down creature theyโ€™re blocking. Your recently flipped cards turn into card draws, and this commander even has a solid tap ability to flip attacking face-down cards. I also love that this is a 3-color commander that only costs 2 mana. What a steal!

Duskana, the Rage Mother is such an interesting alternative commander for this deck. This Naya commander doesnโ€™t care about morph or disguise, but rather 2/2 creatures. This commander has a great draw and pump effect for all your face-down 2/2 creatures.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of this deck are deception, interactions, and the ability to use cards at multiple stages. The morph-like abilities conceal your true intentions for opportune moments and work well with some cards that focus on power/toughness of 2. Once youโ€™ve benefited from your 2/2 creatures, you can then flip them over at any time to create a nightmare of effects against certain playstyles.

The weaknesses of this deck come from the slow play of morph decks and making some of your valuable creatures more vulnerable. Morph and disguise take a curve-busting 3 mana each time you want to hard-cast something face-down. This can be way too burdensome in the early game. And youโ€™ll have a ton of 2/2 creatures, which are easily destroyed by a card like Into the Fire.

Notable Cards

One of my favorite morph cards of this deck is Experiment Twelve. I like morph supporters like Yedora, Grave Gardener and Panoptic Projektor, as well as 2/2 payoffs like Welcoming Vampire and Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa. Seedborn Muse is also an absolute killer for this deck, but it may not be appropriate for every game because itโ€™s a Game Changer.

#8. Primal Genesis

Primal Genesis Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Primal Genesis is themed around creature tokens and populating them. This deck is full of creature token creators, cards with populate, and a healthy amount of creature support. This midrange deck looks to gain advantages on the battlefield and crush opponents under a massive number of creature tokens.

Commanders

Ghired, Conclave Exile is the Naya commander here, and its abilities can ramp this deck up. Ghired creates a creature token upon ETB and has a wonderful populate ability that triggers when it attacks. Youโ€™ll have to control the board a bit with the smaller creatures, ramp, and removal to get to the mid-curve cost of Ghired. Once on the battlefield, wheels up, itโ€™s all about attacking.

Atla Palani, Nest Tender is one of the alternative commanders for this Naya precon, and it can definitely lead this deck well. As your commander, Atla Palani turns weenie Egg tokens into some massive advantages, cheating your big creatures onto the battlefield. Marisi, Breaker of the Coil is another option that focuses on directing combat towards others. This attack-heavy deck will be able to swing relatively freely, with opponents being goaded into not attacking you.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of this deck come from whether you can get some of the massive payoff cards going. So many of the creatures have wonderful effects, and there are a ton of chances to create an army of creature tokens. This is the kind of Commander deck that takes some ramping, but it has a ton of killer payoffs.

The obvious weaknesses of this deck are removal and its ramp needs. With such a creature interaction-centric deck, if you donโ€™t have the mana or if you face a ton of removal, it can sometimes be difficult to achieve victory. I do think this deck has an appropriate amount of ramp to help you cast and utilize many of your creatures on time, but if your timing or ramp is thrown off, it may have some problems.

Notable Cards

There are so many creatures that I like and that fit the theme of the deck, itโ€™s hard to select only a few to highlight. Feldon of the Third Path and Selesnya Eulogist have great activated abilities that create creature tokens. Dragonmaster Outcast and Giant Adephage are your static creature-token engines. And donโ€™t forget a wonderful card like Emmara Tandris to protect all those lovely creature tokens.

As for the noncreature cards, I love the one planeswalker in Garruk, Primal Hunter. Ghired's Belligerence is a wonderful removal/populate card. And Hour of Reckoning is the one-sided creature token removal you need.

#7. Scrappy Survivors

Scrappy Survivors

Deck Theme

This Naya equipment and aura deck can play quite quickly. From the cheap commander to all the aura and equipment recursion, Scrappy Survivors keeps your deck rolling. Where many Voltron, aura, and equipment decks fall flat to removal, this deck provides a lot more flexibility and protection.

Commanders

Dogmeat, Ever Loyal is the Naya commander for this precon. This good dog provides a little enchantment and aura recursion, as well as a good way to get through the top of your deck. With Junk tokens, you can gain a huge advantage in impulse drawing some cards you need. This commander is inexpensive and offers sufficient benefits to be useful in this preconโ€™s overall strategy.

Preston Garvey, Minuteman focuses more on mana ramp. When I say focuses, I should say that it gives a wonderful mana advantage. This commander can double the output of an additional land each turn and untap them and your other enchanted permanents when it attacks.

Strengths and Weaknesses

This deck is aggressive and advantageous, and it provides all the benefits of other aura and equipment decks. The curve of this deck is relatively low, and it has plenty of abilities or interactions that can lessen the mana burden of equipment and aura spells. Overall, this deck has a faster and more protected playstyle than many other aura and equipment decks.

This deck is a bit light on creatures and can be highly susceptible to removal. It has so many great aura and equipment cards, but if you draw too many, your hand and battlefield will be sunk. Itโ€™s a great and strong deck, with some weaknesses in how games can play out against removal and the luck of the draw.

Notable Cards

Letโ€™s break this down into the best creatures, equipment, and auras. Starting with creatures, youโ€™ll want to pump up cards like Cait, Cage Brawler and Crimson Caravaneer while you use cards like Puresteel Paladin and Codsworth, Handy Helper as major equipment support.

As for the auras, whatโ€™s not to love about cards like All That Glitters and Grim Reaper's Sprint? Equipment cards like Junk Jet, Pip-Boy 3000, and Silver Shroud Costume will help you to crush your opponents!

#6. Desert Bloom

Desert Bloom Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Desert Bloom uses lands as a resource, but surprisingly, itโ€™s not quite a landfall deck. This Commander deck focuses on deserts, sacrificing lands, and land-graveyard effects. A nice blend of aristocrats, landfall, and reanimation, you can turn your lands (especially deserts) into a ton of resources and payoffs.

Commanders

Yuma, Proud Protector is full of text that supports the flow of this Commander deck. This Naya commander reduces its own MV, is a sacrifice and draw engine, and turns sacrificed lands into solid creature token creation. The high MV shouldnโ€™t be too big of a problem with this card's cost reduction ability and this deckโ€™s land ramp. You can just benefit from a ton of land-sacrificing payoffs!

The alternative commanders are Hazezon, Shaper of Sand and Kirri, Talented Sprout. Hazezon is a cheaper commander than Yuma and provides a ton more creature token creation, but theyโ€™re smaller, which leads to a more wide-swing strategy. Kirri focuses more on the plant creature type, but it also has some recursion that can help with lands or plant creatures.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I love that this deck can often benefit from playing lands, but also from sacrificing lands and lands in your graveyard. That provides so many interactions and advantages, and itโ€™s the ultimate strength of this deck. This Commander precon even has land recursion to ensure you have enough of these extra resources to use over and over.

A big weakness comes from graveyard hate. You could still do a lot with the lands in this deck, but without the graveyard as a resource, itโ€™s just a decent deck. Also, you'll fall behind if anything happens to your land ramp.

Notable Cards

This deck has some great landfall creatures like Omnath, Locus of Rage, but a desert-focused card like Dune Chanter takes this deck up a notch. Youโ€™ll also want land recursion effects from a card like Ramunap Excavator that also pairs well with a land ramp card like Oracle of Mul Daya.

Youโ€™ll also want to make massive plays with cards like Vengeful Regrowth and Rumbleweed. Apart from Yuma, my favorite card of this deck is Titania, Protector of Argoth for its large creature token creation sparked off the land recursion theme of this deck.

Magic: The Gathering Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander Deck - Desert Bloom (100-Card Deck, 2-Card Collector Booster Sample Pack + Accessories) Red-Green-White
  • BRING LIFE TO THE DESERTโ€”Discard Land cards, then rejuvenate them for a lively victory with this Red-Green-White deck thatโ€™s ready-to-play right out of the box

  • CONTENTSโ€”1 ready-to-play Desert Bloom Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander Deck, a 2-card Collector Booster Sample Pack, 10 double-sided tokens, 1 life tracker, and 1 deck box

#5. Limit Break

Limit Break Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Play your great creatures, equip them, and benefit. Limit Break uses a ton of legendary creatures with great effects and pairs them with great equipment cards. These combinations also lead to payoffs for the historic mechanic, artifact triggers, and a few โ€œpower of 7 or greaterโ€ triggers. Equip your heroes, and get into the battle!

Commanders

Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER is an absolute killer when it enters. It has haste, it auto-attaches an equipment to itself, and it offers a whole bunch of payoffs when it attacks. This commander is aggressive in the mid to late game and provides draw and mana advantage on the turn it enters. With the right battlefield setup, Cloud can propel you to victory.

Tifa, Martial Artist is the alternative Naya commander that still takes advantage of having a creature with 7 or greater power, like Cloud. Tifa is just as aggressive as Cloud and aims to give you additional combats with all your legendary heroes and their magnificent equipment.

Strengths and Weaknesses

One simple strength of this precon comes from the number of legendary creatures it has. These play into some of the themes of the deck, but they're also just individually powerful cards. The other strength is the flexibility and mobility of equipment cards. You can benefit from equipment card payoffs and change them around at will.

A weakness of this deck is the commitment you have to make to get all the full benefits. Youโ€™ll need a lot of mana to play equipment spells and attach them to something. Thereโ€™s also a commitment to having creatures with power 7 or greater. This can be quite hard when you play against opponents that want to throw off your strategy. This deck takes a lot of investment and can be disrupted relatively easily.

Notable Cards

This deck has a ton of legendary creatures, with Bugenhagen, Wise Elder and Sephiroth, Fallen Hero at the top of the heap. To support these legendary creatures, this deck has cards like Elena, Turk Recruit.

This deck also focuses heavily on equipment cards like Champion's Helm and Wrecking Ball Arm that also benefit from payoff cards like Barret, Avalanche Leader and Red XIII, Proud Warrior.

#4. Call for Backup

Call for Backup Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Call for Backup is built around +1/+1 counters in fun and surprising ways. Many counters decks like to focus on proliferate and doubling effects. This precon does a little of that alongside fun mechanics like backup, outlast, bolster, and a few other tricks to pile on the +1/+1 counters. The goal is to avalanche a bunch of counters onto creatures to make each one of them lethal.

Commanders

Bright-Palm, Soul Awakener is the Naya leader of this deck, and it can turn your big creatures into deadly attackers. This commander doesnโ€™t have a wide counters effect on your creatures, but when it attacks, it can make one of your creatures into a real threat to your opponents. Doubling counters and making a creature much more elusive are the wonderful upsides of Bright-Palm.

Shalai and Hallar as the alternate commander turns your +1/+1 counters into deadly direct damage. If you can get this deck rolling and pile on the counters, this commander might actually be better than Bright-Palm, Soul Awakener.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths here are its aggressive nature and the fact that with +1/+1 counters, any of your creatures can become massive and dangerous. Almost every creature you play in this deck puts some pressure on opponents because of how much they can grow themselves and other creatures. Apply this pressure and continue to play great creatures after removal, and the wave of creatures and counters should carry you to a few victories.

I mention it a lot with these Naya decks, but an obvious weakness is removal. If you canโ€™t get your creatures and counters going, youโ€™ll be in trouble. This is especially true with removal in response, as youโ€™ll waste some of your great counters effects. Removal and some stax effects are the downfall of this precon, and because these weaknesses are well known, I rank this better than you might expect for the likelihood that great additions will come in future Naya cards that could slot right into this deck.

Notable Cards

When it comes to +1/+1 counter enablers, youโ€™ll want to play cards like Conclave Sledge-Captain and Mikaeus, the Lunarch. To get even more payoffs from the counters, this deck has cards like Elite Scaleguard and Hamza, Guardian of Arashin. As usual, Brawn is also a terrific card for dishing out trample to your large creatures.

I also love the enchantments Ion Storm and Together Forever to keep this deck ultra aggressive.

Magic: The Gathering March of The Machine Commander Deck - Call for Backup (100-Card Deck, 10 Planechase Cards, Collector Booster Sample Pack + Accessories) Commander Deck 3
  • Call for Backup (Red-Green-White deck)โ€”100-card ready-to-play March of the Machine Commander Deck with 2 Traditional Foil Legendary cards and 98 nonfoil cards

  • 2-card Collector Booster Sample Packโ€”contains 2 special treatment cards from the March of the Machine main set, including 1 Rare or Mythic Rare and at least 1 Traditional Foil card
  • Deck introduces 10 never-before-seen MTG cards to Commander
  • Accessoriesโ€”1 Foil-Etched Display Commander, 10 double-sided tokens, Life Tracker, and deck box

#3. Raining Cats and Dogs

Raining Cats and Dogs Secret Lair Commander deck

Deck Theme

As the idiom name of this Commander deck implies, Raining Cats and Dogs is all about cats and dogs. Specifically, creating a large army of them and pumping them with lord effects. This precon has a nice curve to it and can lead to a ton of token creation. Pets bring so much to our lives, and the cats and dogs of this deck bring a ton of synergy and value in combat.

Commanders

Rin and Seri, InseparableJetmir, Nexus of Revels

Rin and Seri, Inseparable is the ultimate cute couple, and it brings a ton of value as this preconโ€™s commander. This cardโ€™s token creation triggers ensure that all the creatures you cast create an additional creature token. Once youโ€™ve established an army of cats and dogs, you can activate this commander for direct player damage and lifegain.

This deck has a whopping five alternative commanders: Jetmir, Nexus of Revels, Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second, Kitt Kanto, Mayhem Diva, Marisi, Breaker of the Coil, and Phabine, Boss's Confidant. They all work wonderfully under Rin and Seri, but if you choose one of them as an alternate, they have slightly different strategies. Jetmir wants a ton of creatures and then can turn them all into deadly attackers, Jinnie Fay changes your small token creation into bigger and better creatures, Marisi and Kitt are great for goading opponents, and Phabine focuses on its parley ability.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of this precon come from the awesome commander and the synergy of creating and pumping a ton of tokens. Rin and Seri, Inseparable is a perfect commander to build around. Itโ€™s cheap, it creates many more creatures, and it has a cheap but killer activated ability you can use every turn. Put this on top of all the cat and dog cards that work together, and you have one strong strategy.

It has a distinct weakness against control decks, though. The synergies and interactions are great, but if theyโ€™re repeatedly interrupted, this precon may become a lot weaker. This deck does have a good number of creatures that could respond to mass removal, but it might fold to too many control elements.

Notable Cards

Great cat support for this deck comes from cards like Feline Sovereign, Regal Caracal, and White Sun's Zenith. And great dog support for this deck comes from a card like Pack Leader.

Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second

To support token creation and create significant payoffs, this deck rocks great cards like Anointed Procession and Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second. Also, cards like Herald's Horn and Vanquisher's Banner provide wonderful anthem effects.

As a sneaky bonus, if you use changeling cards like Mirror Entity and Maskwood Nexus, you can trigger both a Cat and Dog token from Rin and Seri on each creature cast.

#2. Veloci-ramp-tor

Veloci-ramp-tor Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Veloci-ramp-tor is the Naya Commander precon you need if youโ€™re a dinosaur lover. This precon focuses on wonderful dinosaur cards and the many killer effects they come with. The key is to extract a ton of advantages from the dinosaur mechanics and interactions, as well as just getting big-bodied dinos onto the battlefield.

Commanders

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored is a commander that can accelerate this dinosaur Commander deck. Many precon commanders do a good job at leading their decks, but Pantlaza takes this deck to another level. This commanderโ€™s discover ability cheats a ton of good creatures onto the battlefield with every high-toughness dinosaur you play. The effect also triggers when this Commander enters, so youโ€™ll want to play it quickly and often.

The backup commanders take two different routes from Pantlaza. Wayta, Trainer Prodigy is your cheaper Naya commander, and it works as an enrage engine or simply as removal. Zacama, Primal Calamity is the more expensive option and has a ton of valuable activated abilities, and it frees up mana for a massive advantage shift in a single turn.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths of this deck come from the dinosaurs and their great mechanics and synergies. Mechanics like enrage shake up combat and incentivize some self-damage to trigger tons of interactions. Dinosaurs are also a great type for supporting each other with draw, reanimate, and pump effects.

Some obvious weaknesses come from being vulnerable to removal and having to set up with ramp. A lot can go right with this deck because of the massive number of interactions, but this can also be disrupted. Stax effects, removal, and disruptive decks can be this preconโ€™s downfall.

Notable Cards

Letโ€™s waste no time and get into the dinosaurs that can make a huge difference. The Commander-eligible cards are stellar, but I also love Raging Swordtooth, Wakening Sun's Avatar, and Curious Altisaur. And who could forget elder dinosaurs like Etali, Primal Storm and Zetalpa, Primal Dawn?

Akroma's Will and Rishkar's Expertise are spells that have a high payoff with your big dinosaurs. Also, From the Rubble and Rhythm of the Wild are enchantments that greatly benefit this creature-heavy precon.

  • JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF IXALANโ€”Explore the cavernous depths beneath Ixalan in a race to the hidden core. Will you uncover treasure and glory, or will your adventure spell certain doom?

#1. Landโ€™s Wrath

Land's Wrath Commander Precon

Deck Theme

Plain and simple, Land's Wrath is a landfall deck, lead by a commander that turns a land into a deadly creature every turn, and supported by massive landfall payoffs from cards like Omnath, Locus of Rage. This deck can play massive creatures with massive payoffs because of all the land ramp present.

Commanders

This Naya precon is unique in that it doesnโ€™t have another Naya commander alternative. Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor is your Naya leader for this deck, but it does it well. For the low cost of 4 mana, you get a commander with a great static and triggered ability. Obuun can create a large creature out of one of your lands each turn, and it provides some pump with its landfall trigger. The high upsides from relatively low investments are tantalizing.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The strength and the strategy go hand-in-hand with this precon, since using lands as another resource besides mana can lead to a win. You can include a high number of lands (37) because drawing and playing them also provides benefits instead of having them be a dead draw. Ramp cards, big creatures, and landfall triggers seem to mesh together quite well.

Though I think this deck has a solid all-around strategy, curve, and play style, itโ€™s a precon and so it isnโ€™t perfect. It can fall victim to stax cards like Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines, and it doesnโ€™t provide too many answers for opponentsโ€™ strategies.

Notable Cards

Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor provides a great landfall trigger, but so do cards like Emeria Shepherd and Geode Rager. You also have great land support cards like Mina and Denn, Wildborn and Living Twister to ensure you play lands and benefit from landfall triggers every turn.

Landfall is the main objective here, but with a lot of +1/+1 counters being thrown around, I also like lowkey support cards like Abzan Falconer and Tuskguard Captain. Many of the noncreature spells work as solid support or ramp, but one card to highlight is Planar Outburst for its focus on wiping the board except for your land creatures.

Many players harp on precons as too basic or not fun. I strongly disagree as these precons give an introduction into more competitive formats, and you can easily adjust them to meet your desired competition level.
