As if a full Standard-sized set, four Commander precons, a bunch of Welcome Decks, and two Scene Boxes with a collective 12 exclusive cards werenโ€™t enough, Marvel Super Heroes also released with a Jumpstart tie-in that brought 185 additional new cards to Magic, not to mention reprints.

Needless to say the full set file for MSH is a bit of a headache to sift through, what with all the Captain Americas and Black Widows and Doctor Dooms and such. But as bloated as the set is in its entirety, Iโ€™d still rather have this Jumpstart release than not. Letโ€™s see what you can get.

What Is Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart?

Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart is a product related to the main Marvel Super Heroes set that uses cards printed directly for Eternal formats. Like all Jumpstart releases, the idea is to take two individual 20-card boosters, shuffle them together, and face that 40-card pile against someone elseโ€™s mix-matched Jumpstart deck. Itโ€™s actually a great way to learn and play Magic between two people, though previous Jumpstart releases have been somewhat hit or miss.

Iโ€™d call this one of the โ€œgoodโ€ Jumpstart sets, which means it introduces a ton of interesting, unique designs and isnโ€™t just a glorified Play booster with a price markup and a shot at some new cards. Marvel Jumpstart might as well be a complete second set, given the sheer volume of new cards.

The set releases on June 26, 2026, at the same time as the main Marvel Super Heroes set.

Note that the Jumpstart set uses the Marvel Super Heroes Eternal set symbol and code (MSC), which is confusing when looking up cards from this set. This supplementary product uses collector numbers 587-874 if youโ€™re trying to weed it out from other MSC cards.

What Comes in a Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Booster Box?

Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Booster Box

A Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart booster box contains 24 Jumpstart packs, as opposed to the 30 packs that come in a normal Play Booster box or 12 in a Collector Booster box.

Each pack contains 20 cards, which includes 7-9 lands, as well as a theme card that notes the intended strategy of that half-deck. Shuffling two packs together results in a 40-card deck thatโ€™s playable straight out of the packs, since the packs contain the lands youโ€™ll need for a functional deck.

How Much Does Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Cost?

The MSRP of a Marvel Jumpstart booster is $6.99, the same price as a Play Booster, which puts a booster box around $168, though you can expect to find them closer to $100. At the time of writing these boxes are discounted to about $120 on Amazon.

How Many Themes Are There?

This Jumpstart release contains 51 different themes, though you could theoretically combine them with any themes from pre-existing Jumpstart products like Foundations Jumpstart or Avatar: The Last Airbender.

All Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Themes

This is a list of every possible theme in Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart boosters, sorted by color. These are noted by a โ€œJumpstart theme cardโ€ thatโ€™s visible inside a plastic cover once you open a booster. In other words, you get to see and choose which themes to mix together if youโ€™re opening multiple packs at once.

Note that this release deviates from previous Jumpstart sets a little with pack structure. Each theme is guaranteed to have one particular deck structure, whereas older Jumpstart packs had variations within the same themes. Thereโ€™s also a guaranteed full-art basic in every booster.

Notable Cards

The Jumpstart set is actually pretty light on standout cards. Maybe because there are just so many to parse through, but also because the rares are designed to be high-curve, midrange threats, and most of them fall into battlecruiser territory. Here are some of the standouts.

Quantum Entanglement + Silver Surfer, Cosmic Voyager

Mandatory shoutout to the new blink pieces. Quantum Entanglement comes down earlier than Teleportation Circle and friends, but it costs mana to blink beyond the first turn. Iโ€™m not sure how we made a Silver Surfer that isnโ€™t a creature tutor, but Silver Surfer, Cosmic Voyager is still strong, and the precon Surfer rectifies that issue.

Immortus, Master of Eternity

Immortus, Master of Eternity provides a wheel and follows it up with a bunch of mana, all while doing a great Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix impression.

Iron Man, Bleeding Edge

Free artifacts are great, though Iron Man, Bleeding Edge highlights that battlecruiser mentality I mentioned. Five mana with no protection is a tough sell.

Loki, Lord of Misrule

Brudiclad-esque in nature, Loki, Lord of Misrule looks to build out a board, then have everything you control become copies of your best creature. Lots of set-up involved, but also lots of broken potential here.

Doctor Doom, Unrivaled

New Lab Man just dropped, this time in mono-black. Though clearly less efficient or reliable as Thassa's Oracle, Doctor Doom, Unrivaled lets you pull off Demonic Consultation/Tainted Pact combos in mono-black. Not cEDH material, but I expect to see it in casual Commander.

Ultron the Annihilator

Not sure why the textbox on Ultron the Annihilator is so verbose, but itโ€™s got a lot of potential as a black artifact commander, though again, it might be a bit too rough as a 5-drop with little immediate impact on the board.

Undead Hand Ninja

One of the few non-legendaries you should have your eye on. Undead Hand Ninja is the perfect payoff for infinite gravebreak loops. Basically any combo involving Tortured Existence can use this as a wincon, and itโ€™s much more curve-friendly than something like Syr Konrad, the Grim.

Nico Minoru, Runaway

Iโ€™ll be honest, I didnโ€™t even read the activated ability on Nico Minoru, Runaway. Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s great and plays into the first ability, but that paradox trigger is enough to sell me on the card. So many archetypes are just doing this โ€œcast-from-anywhere-elseโ€ thing that these sorts of payoffs are always in high demand.

The Whizzer, Classic Speedster

If The Whizzer, Classic Speedster isnโ€™t a clear indication of power creep gone out of control, I donโ€™t know what is.

Wrap Up

Thatโ€™s a wrap on whatโ€™s essentially just a second whole Marvel Super Heroes set. The more the merrier and all that, though the way this product was rolled out was a bit sloppy. Still, Iโ€™m always happy to have more options for deckbuilding, and I enjoy a lot of the designs in this product. Plus, I maintain that Jumpstart is just a fun way to play Magic, especially with someone whoโ€™s just getting started with the game.
