Aminatou, Veil Piercer | Illustration by David Palumbo
The miracle mechanic in MTG originally represented an angelic miracle in Avacyn Restored. In Duskmourn‘s Miracle Worker Commander precon, Aminatou, whose ability to manipulate fate is turned into an Edge of Tomorrow-style reset device for characters who die in Valgavoth’s house during Duskmourn‘s story, is able to see into the future (or your library) and find the magic that you need.
That’s a much more deeply flavorful idea to me. Aminatou, Veil Piercer is one of the coolest commanders in Duskmourn; Aminatou’s ability to turn everyday enchantments into miracles adds an interesting twist to a previously somewhat one-note mechanic, and I think Aminatou, Veil Piercer EDH decks can take a lot of different shapes.
So let's focus on this exciting precon! Let’s see if we can tinker a bit to get it up to snuff.
Deck Overview

Zur, Eternal Schemer | Illustration by Dan Mumford
The Miracle Worker EDH precon is one of the most out-of-the-box focused precons I’ve seen in a while. The two strands of the deck, which we expect from precons, aren’t so very far apart in their focuses. Even without Aminatou, Veil Piercer on the battlefield, a combination of powerful enchantments and the potential to drop cheap miracle spells works just fine in a bit of a controlling style.
Upgrade Plan
My first goal is to focus on upgrading the deck by increasing card quality while lowering the mana curve wherever possible, especially by increasing synergies where I can. But the second goal, which is key to piloting this deck to victory, is to increase the reach and power of the deck into the late game so that all these powerful effects add up to something that can get you the W.
Of note, there aren’t any other schemes for the Archenemy secondary deck that you could add that would help with Aminatou's ability that aren’t already in there, so you can roll with the stock list if you’re playing this as an Archenemy deck.
Finally, although I’m adding some cards that aren’t cheap, I’m skipping obvious inclusion Sensei's Divining Top. It’s an expensive card, for one, and it can be a really game-slowing and polarizing card. Opponents will think you’re up to much more nefarious shenanigans if you drop it than what you’d be doing here, which is getting one extra look at the top of your deck to find a miracle. You don’t want the politics to doom you from the start in casual spaces. But if you play at higher power EDH tables, by all means!
Castle Vantress
Suggested Cut: Plains
First, you need repeated scry or surveil, and Castle Vantress seems a little better than Tocasia's Dig Site in a 3-color deck. But let this also be a proxy for all the lands that need to be improved in this precon, especially since it’s a 3-color deck.
Entity Tracker
Suggested Cut: Auramancer
Esper colors means you don't have access to all the best green enchantress cards, but you can make due with the white ones, as well as the new eerie Duskmourn card Entity Tracker. This will actually play like an improved version of the typical enchantress, since it has flash and triggers when you unlock the second half of any rooms you have in play. All of this is better than the simple value of Auramancer, who just needs to be an enchantment creature.
Archon of Sun’s Grace
Suggested Cut: Burnished Hart
Archon of Sun's Grace is still one of the best ways to win the game in an enchantment-heavy deck, even though the card itself isn’t an enchantment. This white creature is better in cheap-spells enchantress-style decks, but the miracle theme helps you take advantage of this archon to some extent. Burnished Hart is no longer really playable in contemporary Magic.
Heliod, the Radiant Dawn / Heliod, the Warped Eclipse
Suggested Cut: Dream Eater
The surveil 4 isn’t enough to make an overpriced Man-o'-War good enough, especially because Dream Eater isn’t an enchantment creature. But Heliod, the Radiant Dawn is. And it gets you back an enchantment. Once you transform it, Heliod, the Warped Eclipse can provide an alternative ability to drop expensive spells if your Esper commander isn’t staying on the battlefield.
Zur, Eternal Schemer
Suggested Cut: Prognostic Sphinx
An amazing enchantment commander it its own right, Zur, Eternal Schemer gives you some protection and starts animating enchantments into creatures for a bit of a wincon. No hate for Prognostic Sphinx, but it doesn’t really fit the theme of the deck, and a bit of scry isn’t enough to matter.
Underworld Coinsmith
Suggested Cut: Solemn Simulacrum
Underworld Coinsmith is a nice cheap creature that doubles as a wincon. It’s also a signal that you can include a hefty lifegain and drain package in this deck if you want to go that direction. I’m just giving a taste of that world here. And there are decks that want Solemn Simulacrum‘s ramp, but this isn’t the place to take a turn off to drop the Sad Robot.
Dance of the Manse
Suggested Cut: Aminatou's Augury
I get the vibe on like the signature spell here for your Esper commander, but Aminatou's Augury isn’t good here. Aminatou can’t cast it as a miracle. You have a lot better things to do if you make it to 8 mana, and you're not full-up on other card types to begin with. Dance of the Manse, on the other hand, can win you the game with 8 mana!
Extinguish All Hope
Suggested Cut: Read the Bones
An asymmetric board wipe is what we play for! Join the party, Extinguish All Hope!
I get that the tone there is really odd. So is everything involving Aminatou, I’d argue. There are Limited decks I’ve played too well that wanted a card like Read the Bones, but not here.
Mirror Room // Fractured Realm
Suggested Cut: Return to Dust
Aminatou can get the expensive side of Mirror Room // Fractured Realm down as a miracle on the cheap and then you can open the other door when you have a good target. Or you can cast the cheap side first and bide your time, bwa ha ha ha! And Return to Dust is monstrously inefficient.
Restricted Office // Lecture Hall
Suggested Cut: Telling Time
This deck has enough effects like Telling Time, and this is the worst of them. I’d rather have a board wipe on an enchantment or the chance of a miracle of mass hexproof with Restricted Office // Lecture Hall.
Devastation Tide
Suggested Cut: Utter End
I hate playing Utter End. It might be a mistake to cut this Orzhov card, but 4 mana for emergency removal just feels super bad. But Devastation Tide is fun! It’s one of the OG miracle cards that didn’t ship with the deck that I wanted to include because it’s just a great emergency break.
Cacophony Unleashed
Suggested Cut: Brainstone
I get that Cacophony Unleashed dooms your commander, but it’s worth it as a good piece of interaction as well as a top-end play for you. Brainstone just isn’t good enough at topdeck manipulation without artifact and/or sacrifice synergies.
Court of Vantress
Suggested Cut: Commander's Sphere
3-drop mana rocks in 2024? Really? I vote Commander's Sphere off the island. Court of Vantress is a risk with a lower number of cheap creatures, as it’s asking someone to swing at you. Consider this a late-game play.
Hallowed Haunting
Suggested Cut: Cast Out
I’m still not cool with 4-mana single removal in today’s EDH, especially on an Oblivion Ring effect! I get that you can cycle this white enchantment and recur it, but I’m not buying that. Hallowed Haunting, on the other hand, is a great way to develop a board and is a finishing strategy.
Starfield of Nyx
Suggested Cut: The Eldest Reborn
The Eldest Reborn is cute, but it’s more like a card you’re glad to see on the wheel in a low-powered Cube. But Starfield of Nyx is everything. Constant enchantment recursion. Animating enchantments to go face. Just what you want in a deck like this.

Commanding Conclusion

Starfield of Nyx | Illustration by Tyler Jacobson
I’ve kept it light enough on the changes to allow for some flexibility. But I can imagine a suite of obnoxious enchantments like Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe. I can also imagine attack reducers like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Cunning Rhetoric. Or all of them. Depends on what you want to do and the vibe you want to create.
I’d be tempted to try this engine straight up with these minimal changes and see how it goes. If you do, let me know in the comments below or on the Draftsim Discord. Is this EDH precon upgraded with a few changes enough to win? I think it just might be.
Happy brewing and good luck!

One mistake, Bottomless Pool is already in the deck
Thanks for the catch!
We’ve subbed out the redundant copy for Entity Tracker.
