Marvel Super Heroes Art - Illustration by Alexander Gering

I guess this is what we're doing now, previewing new sets about a half-year before they actually release. Hey, I'm not complaining personally, but I'm guessing it isn't a net positive for the whole โ€œproduct fatigueโ€ thing going on.

And yet, we've got new spoilers for Marvel Super Heroes, which releases in June of 2026. Quit all that elemental bending, skip over Lorwyn Eclipsed, flunk out of Secrets of Strixhaven, ignore TMNT (seriously, please ignore it), and suit up for next year's colossal Marvel set. Here's everything we learned from WeeklyMTG.

The Spoilers

Standard Previews

The following cards are part of the Marvel Super Heroes main set, with the set code MSH.

Captain America, Super-Soldier gives us a proper heroes-matter commander, though being mono-white limits how many of your favorite heroes you'll be able to jam in one deck. Nice use of the shield counter here.

The Sentry, Golden Guardian has an absurd stat-line and keywords, but it counteracts itself with The Void, which is creates under an opponent's control. Politics, anyone?

Quicksilver, Brash Blur is not only a new leyline-like creature, but also showcases the new power-up mechanic, which is essentially an exhaust ability that's cheaper to use if you activate it the turn the creature enters play.

A 2/2 dinosaur, eh? Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur gets huge when you draw your second card each turn, essentially becoming Colossal Dreadmaw for half the price. Oh, and it wouldn't be a Simic commander if it didn't draw cards, in this card once per turn when an artifact hits the board. This โ€œartifactfallโ€ ability will show up a bit more in the set.

GG Yargle and Multani, you had your run. I'll happily sacrifice 2 points of power for 12 points of toughness and some extra permanent destruction on top. Also look at that gangly Mr. Fantastic down there. Talk about a mythic rare that feels mythic.

It wouldn't be a Universes Beyond set without some 5-color legend. Super-Skrull may not end up being the only one in the set, but it's here to let you jam every Marvel hero or villain in one deck without having to resort to Cosmic Spider-Man. Note that new Skrull creature type, too.

Doctor Doom, besides being a bunch of robots in a trenchcoat, brings โ€œplansโ€ to the game. These are an enchantment subtype that build up plan counters as you do something, then pay you off with some sort of big effect. Doom Reigns Supreme is a pure villain payoff that drains opponents over time, then eventually turns into two free spells.

Thunderbolts Conspiracy is another all-in villain payoff that turns your baddies into goodies. This might be a fun Limited buildaround, or perhaps the crux of villain Commander decks, which might finally get there with this set.

Conniveโ€˜s a great mechanic to see on a villain like Baron Helmut Zemo. It fits into typical black devotion shells and feels like an incredible finisher for an all-in black deck. Boast might be a one-off here, but it's an appropriate addition to this card.

The transforming MDFC legends are returning from Marvel's Spider-Man. Here we've got Bruce Banner, a pretty straightforward card advantage commander that turns into The Incredible Hulk, a smashy smashy Gruul creature with a sweet and flavorful enrage ability.

World at War is another saga from the set. It floats into any green or red creature, pumps something up on chapter two, then really pumps something up on the last chapter (with trample).

Who had merfolk typal payoffs on their Marvel bingo card? Namor the Sub-Mariner and Attuma, Atlantean Warlord (Atlantis confirmed) have some forward-looking merfolk text to pair up with upcoming Lorwyn Eclipsed prints.

Commander Previews

The following cards are specifically from MSC, the Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks. The following four cards are all part of a single Fantastic Four Commander precon, and are all interchangeable as the commander of the deck. That'll be one of four precons coming out with this set.

Missed opportunity to leave the art on Invisible Woman blank. Regardless, here's a new no-black 4-color commander that walls up and makes a bunch of things unblockable. Mister Fantastic puts reach to good use, even if it feels weird on a blue card. Copying abilities is pretty sweet, too.

You're probably sensing a noncreature theme here with The Thing, a new counter doubler that gets big real fast. Shouldn't be too hard to make this a 9/9 trampler the turn it enters. As Blake Rasmussen pointed out on stream, The Thing can represent lethal commander damage in just a turn or two. Human Torch is another beater that's designed specifically to just deal a bunch of damage.

What's Next?

Marvel Super Heroes releases in June, 2026. Remember there are three more sets between now and then, so this is a super-early look at the set. It's nice to see EDH precons coming to a Marvel product, and it looks like this is going to be a huge summer set. Stay tuned for more previews, probably from non-Marvel sets first.
