Booster packs have always been an integral part of Magic, allowing players to grow their collections while savoring the unique joy of cracking the foil packaging open to see what treasure (or trash) has come into their possession.
Booster packs have seen some Upheaval over the past few years, with products like Set boosters and Collector boosters cropping up and the emergence of the Play booster replacing the OG booster pack.
And Bloomburrow promises another change: Value boosters!
How does this booster pack hold up to the collector booster? Letโs find out!
The Difference Between Value and Collector Boosters

See Beyond | Illustration by Andrew Robinson
Value boosters are a cheap, budget-friendly product, while collector boosters are aimed at players who love collecting foil and alternate art cards.
Both products share a purpose: theyโre designed to be opened to add new cards to your MTG collection. But they serve very different markets.
Collector boosters are the most expensive individual booster product you buy, flooded with foils and rare cards for the dragons in the game. Value boosters donโt guarantee a rare, focusing on commons and uncommons to keep the price low. These two booster types effectively represent the two extremes of the price range.
Value Booster Contents
Value boosters contain seven cards. These details came from WotC's official announcement of Bloomburrowโs Value boosters:
- Three commons
- Two uncommons
- One wildcard of any rarity
- One land, traditional foil, or Special Guest card
How Many Cards Are in a Value Booster?
Value boosters contain seven cards, mostly commons and uncommons. Unlike other booster products, you arenโt guaranteed to open a rare.
Collector Booster Contents
The contents of Collector boosters vary for each MTG set, but theyโre generally 15-card boosters with a much higher concentration of foils and rares than Play boosters. They always contain some number of foil commons and uncommons and one foil rare, alongside a variety of bonus slots dedicated to various art styles. These include the setโs showcase arts, extended arts, borderless cards, and, occasionally, serialized cards or Special Guests. For a better picture of what this looks like, these are the contents of Bloomburrow Collector boosters:

How Many Cards Are In a Collector Booster?
Collector boosters contain fifteen cards and a foil token. They have a higher concentration of rares and foils compared to other booster products.
Which Is Better? Value or Collector Boosters?
This depends on what you want from the product.
Do you just want the rush of opening a pack of Magic cards without spending much money? Value boosters are great for you. But if cost isnโt an issue and you want to get ahold of something shiny, Collector boosters are right up your alley.
Best Value Boosters
The first Value boosters are from Bloomburrow, there aren't any other available! They're not available anywhere online just yet, and we don't know the exact price. When that new info is out, we'll be sure to update this section.
Best Collector Boosters
Modern Horizons 3
I know Modern Horizons 3 just dropped, but itโs had a massive impact across multiple Magic formats, so it has tons of fantastic staples you can crack. It also boasts some pretty impressive reprints of multi-format staples, including the ever-desired allied fetch lands and the evoke elementals from Modern Horizons 2 returning as special guests.
- MODERNโS NEVER BEEN MORE MARVELOUSโIntroducing a heaping helping of exciting cards for Modern, one of Magicโs most celebrated formats, plus the return of competitive favorites, thereโs something for everyone to love in Modern Horizons 3
- BEAUTY AND BRAWNโCrush with a deck full of gorgeous special treatments; every Collector Booster contains 7 alt-frame cards, including the possibility of Retro-Frame, Borderless Profile, Borderless Frame Break, Borderless Concept Eldrazi, and Borderless Fetch Land cards
- MODERN MIGHT THAT SHINES BRIGHTโBoth powerful and flashy, every pack contains 10-12 Traditional Foil cards and may contain Collector Booster exclusive, like Foil-Etched cards, a Textured Foil card, or even a foil Serialized card
- POWERFUL CARDS FOR LIMITED, CONSTRUCTED & COMMANDER PLAYโSpice up your deck with powerful New-to-Modern cards or discover Legendary Creatures with striking special treatments to inspire your next Commander Deck
- GET DIRECT ACCESS TO THE COOLEST CARDSโCollector Boosters give you direct access to the most desirable Modern Horizons 3 cards, including 5 cards of rarity Rare or higher in every pack
Modern Horizons 2
Look, Modern Horizon sets have a track record of introducing impactful format staplesโto the point some would consider them format warping, and MH2 is no exception.
Not only do you get a chance to crack the stunning sketch-art cards (one of my favorite art treatments), but this set has staples for virtually every format. All ten fetch lands are represented, which are heavily desired in every format theyโre legal in. Urza's Saga, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, and Esper Sentinel are just a few of the MH2 cards that see play in multiple formats. This set just has so many awesome pulls.
- 12 Modern Horizons 2 (MH2) Magic: The Gathering Collector Boosters
- Shortcut to the coolest cards in Modern Horizons 2
- Only Modern Horizons 2 boosters with Foil Etched cards and Extended-Art
- 4 Rares and/or Mythic Rares per pack (max. of 3 Mythics)
- Introduces powerful cards and beloved reprints to the Modern format
Streets of New Capenna
While Streets of New Capenna doesnโt have the rich trove of format staples Modern Horizons sets do, you still get some excellent hits. Giada, Font of Hope is the angel commander. Cards like Jetmir, Nexus of Revels and Ledger Shredder see plenty of play in Commander and other formats. But the big-ticket cards here are the Triomes, which see prominent play alongside fetch lands in Modern and Commander.
- 12 Streets of New Capenna MTG Collector Boosters + 1 foil box topper card
- 15 Magic cards + 1 foil token in each boosterโincluding 5 cards of rarity rare or higher
- Shortcut to the coolest SNC cardsโincluding Collector Booster-exclusive special treatments
- Opportunity to get Foil-Etched and Gilded Foil cardsโup to 2 Gilded Foil cards per pack
- Traditional Foil Metropolis Full-Art Land in every pack
Ravnica Remastered
Rather like Streets of New Capennaโs Triomes, the primary draw to Ravnica Remastered Collector boosters is the available lands. This time, the appeal comes from the shock lands, which see heavy play in Modern, Pioneer, and Commander as some of the gameโs best lands. It also offers a chance at serialized cards, including prominent Commander staples like Cyclonic Rift and Krenko, Mob Boss.
- RENEW YOUR VIP GUILD MEMBERSHIPโThereโs no place like Ravnica; walk through familiar streets with a bustling crowd of reprinted favorites from Ravnicaโs past and the ten unique guilds that keep the city running
- COLLECT RETRO CARDSโHonor Ravnicaโs treasured past with Retro cards overflowing with nostalgic charm; every Collector Booster contains 4โ5 Retro-Frame cards, one of which may be a unique Serialized Retro card
- MAY CONTAIN BORDERLESS SHOCK LANDSโEvery pack also contains 1โ2 Borderless reprints, each of which may be either a Borderless Shock Land (a Collector Booster exclusive!) or Borderless card with anime-inspired alternate art
- BEST BOOSTERS FOR COLLECTORSโCollector Boosters are a shortcut to the coolest cards in a set, with packs full of Rare cards, shiny foil cards, and special alt-art, alt-frame cards
- PLAY A GAME THAT FUSES ART, STORIES & STRATEGYโMagic: The Gathering is a collectible card game that weaves deep strategy with art and mechanics that explore the themes of a particular world and storyโwhether you want to play a casual game with friends, collect cool cards, or get competitive, Magic welcomes you to The Gathering
Wilds of Eldraine
Modern and Standard players might look to Agatha's Soul Cauldron as a high-value hit from Wilds of Eldraine, and theyโd be right to. Other cards like Up the Beanstalk and Virtue of Persistence see healthy play in a few formats, but the big draw is the Enchanting Tales cards. This bonus sheet overflows with big-ticket Commander staples like Rhystic Study, Doubling Season, and Parallel Lives. You can even crack rare, anime-style borderless arts that are extremely rare and thus valuable.
- A TALE ONLY YOU CAN TELLโVenture into the untamed Wilds of Eldraine, a fairy tale-inspired world in the Magic multiverse, and free the kingdom from a curse of endless slumber.
- BEST BOOSTERS FOR COLLECTORSโCollector Boosters are a shortcut to the coolest cards in a set, with packs full of Rare cards, shiny foil cards, and special alt-art, alt-frame cards
- BEWITCHING BORDERLESS CARDSโEvery Collector Booster contains at least 3 Enchanting Tales cards with alt-art that looks right out of a storybook; you may even find some with special anime-inspired art
- EXCLUSIVE SPECIAL TREATMENTSโFound only in Collector Boosters, every pack contains at least 1 Extended-Art card and may even contain a special Confetti Foil Enchanting Tales card
Wrap Up

Lorcan, Warlock Collector | Illustration by Andrew Mar
Value boosters aim to offer a cheap product for the hyper-casual Magic player. Theyโre almost opposed to Collector boosters, which are the most expensive and flashiest product you can buy and likely bought by invested players. Value boosters are also quite different from Play boosters; having options is always a good thing, and I have high hopes for Value boosters inviting new players into the game.
What do you think of Value boosters? Do you wish Bloomburrow had set boosters? Are you more likely to purchase Bloomburrow Value boosters or Collector boosters? How do you prefer them to the recent Beyond boosters we've seen in Assassin's Creed? Let me know in the comments below or on the Draftsim Discord.
