Booster, booster from this set,

Which are the prettiest cards that I can get?

Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder, or so they say. But when it comes to gorgeous-looking cards, and the artistic opinion from many-eyed monsters notwithstanding, Wilds of Eldraine is among the fairest of them all.

In this article, we'll cover one specific subset of Wilds of Eldraine‘s alternate art treatments: the wonderful anime versions of 20 Enchanting Tales cards. Here's all you need to know about these beauties: what are they, where to find them, and your odds of stumbling upon one of them.

What Are Anime Enchanting Tales Cards?

The anime Enchanting Tales cards are alternate-art, anime-themed treatments of the Enchanting Tales bonus sheet from Wilds of Eldraine, illustrated by talented Japanese artists. In total, there are 15 mythic rares and 5 rares with the anime borderless treatment (one rare and three mythic rares per color).

For example, in Enchanting Tales there are two different illustrations for Rhystic Study: one by Serena Malyon, and the anime version by Fuzichoco.

All Wilds of Eldraine boosters, be it Draft, Set, or Collector boosters, contain at least one Enchanting Tales card, and said card has a small chance (of roughly about 3% for Draft and Set boosters, and about 16% for Collector boosters) of having the anime alternate art.

In addition, Collector boosters can also contain a special, never-before-seen foil treatment for these anime cards: the Confetti Foil!

Why Are Anime Enchanting Tales Cards Special?

Their alternate art treatment and being much harder to find in boosters are what make the anime Enchanting Tales cards special.

In addition, and like all Enchanting Tales cards, they’re reprints of some of Magic: The Gathering's most popular enchantments. Rhystic Study, Smothering Tithe, and Doubling Season, for example, see a lot of play in Commander.

List of Anime Enchanting Tales Cards

These are the 20 Enchanting Tales cards with an anime borderless treatment.

Since the Enchanting Tales is a bonus sheet, its cards have their own set code, WOT (rather than WOE, which is the set code for Wilds of Eldraine‘s main set). The anime versions of the Enchanting Tales have collector numbers from 64 to 83 (for the regular borderless treatment) and 84 to 103 (for the special “confetti foil” treatment).

What Types of Boosters Are They Found In?

All Wilds of Eldraine boosters (be it Draft, Set, or Collector booster) include at least one card from the Enchanting Tales bonus sheet, with a small chance (roughly about 3% for Draft and Set boosters, and 16% for Collector boosters) of said card being the regular anime version.

The borderless anime cards' special “confetti foil” versions can only be found in Collector boosters.

Where Do You Get Japanese Versions of Anime Enchanting Tales Cards?

In Japanese-language Draft, Set, and Collector boosters, the anime Enchanting Tales cards are in Japanese, while in other languages the anime versions are in English.

The same is true for the confetti foil versions (only found in Collector boosters): they’re in Japanese in Japanese Collector boosters, and in English in non-Japanese Collector boosters.

What Is the Rarity of Anime Enchanting Tales Cards?

As described in Wizards of the Coast's official article about collecting Wilds of Eldraine:

Draft and Set boosters have a dedicated slot that will always have an Enchanting Tales card. 2.8% of the time, that card will have the anime art treatment (1.1% of the time it will be a rare card, and 1.7% of the time it will be a mythic rare card).

Draft Booster Contents

Set boosters also have 2 wildcard slots where both regular Enchanting Tales and anime Enchanting Tales cards have a slight chance of showing up. I haven't been able to find the exact odds of finding an anime card in these wildcard slots (which can also contain Borderless, Jumpstart, or Commander cards in some packs), but WotC's article describes said odds as “small.”

Set Booster Contents

In the case of Collector boosters, they have two slots with a chance to drop an anime Enchanting Tales card:

The Non-foil rare or mythic rare Enchanting Tales slot, in which odds for a rare anime card are 6.7% and odds for a mythic rare anime card are 10% (while the remaining 83.3% of the time you'll get a regular Enchanting Tales card in this slot, either a rare or a mythic rare).

The Traditional foil Booster Fun rare or mythic rare slot, where you'll get an anime borderless Enchanting Tales 2.8% of the time (with odds of 1.1% for a rare, and 1.7% for a mythic rare), and a confetti-foil anime card also 2.8% of the time (again with 1.1% odds for a rare and 1.7% odds for a mythic rare with the confetti treatment).

Are They Valuable?

As of about a week before Wilds of Eldraine‘s release, they look fairly expensive: the prices listed with online stores range from around $30-$60 for the non-confetti versions to well over $100 for several of the confetti foil versions.

No way to know how those prices will be affected once the set is released, though.

Are Anime Enchanting Tales Cards Legal in Standard?

No. Enchanting Tales cards belong to a bonus sheet (similar to the Multiverse Legends from March of the Machine, or the Retro Artifacts in The Brothers’ War), and as such they aren’t part of the main Wilds of Eldraine set as far as format legality is concerned. Enchanting Tales cards are not legal in Standard.

Enchanting Tales cards can only be used in the Constructed formats they are already legal for. For example, Defense of the Heart is legal in Eternal formats, while Parallel Lives is also legal in Modern. But neither are Standard-legal.

Notice that you can use the Enchanting Tales when playing a Limited format, be it Sealed or Draft.

And that's all we know as of now about these anime beauties. Remember that Enchanting Tales cards are not Standard-legal, but as a collection of some of MTG’s most popular enchantments, they can be amazing additions to an Eternal deck.

And you can very much use them in Limited formats, if you open them in your Sealed pool or pick them for your drafted deck.
