Marvel’s Spider-Man is Magic's love letter to your friendly neighborhood spider. This Universes Beyond MTG set has many ways to show its endearment with the source material… And that's exactly what the Marvel Universe bonus sheet is all about.

Some of Magic's best-known staples married with some of Spidey's most iconic original art!

Marvel Universe is a bonus sheet from the Spider-Man Universes Beyond crossover, though the name has been presented as the “Source Material” bonus sheet from Wizards of the Coast. They’re reprints of Magic cards using artwork from Spider-Man comics. You can open Marvel Universe cards in Marvel’s Spider-Man Play boosters and Collector boosters, but they have their own set code—MAR instead of SPM.

No mechanical theme connects the picks (unlike the Breaking News bonus sheet from Outlaws of Thunder Junction, in which all the cards committed crimes). In MAR's case, the connective tissue here is Magic staples, but with illustrations from the comics. In that sense, it's fairly close to the Through the Ages bonus sheet from Final Fantasy.

In some cases, the MAR card just has new art, like Path to Exile, Relentless Assault, or Heroic Intervention.

In other cases, like Doc Ock, Armed and Dangerous or Venom, King in Black, they also have alternate names. They are still a reprint of the original, though, so if you have Doc Ock, Armed and Dangerous in your Commander deck, you can't also have Lorthos, the Tidemaker since they are the same card for gameplay purposes.

How Many Bonus Sheet Cards Are in MAR?

There are 40 Marvel Universe cards.

Where Can You Open Marvel Universe Spider-Man Cards?

You can open MAR cards in Play boosters and Collector boosters.

In Play Boosters, you'll find 1 non-foil Marvel Universe card every 24 packs, on average. All MAR cards have the same drop rate–you're as likely to get a Parallel Lives as you are to find a Shock.

In Collector Boosters, there's a slot that's guaranteed to have one bonus sheet card. It will be in non-foil 75% of the time and traditional foil 25% of the time.

Bundles and Scene Boxes include Play boosters (so they could contain Marvel Universe cards, at the same 1/24 Play booster rate). The Gift Bundle includes one Collector booster, which will include a bonus sheet card in its dedicated slot.

How Many Are in Each Pack?

Marvel's Spider-Man Play Booster Box

In SPM Play boosters, you have 1 MAR card every 24 boosters. In other words: usually zero, and you have 1/24 odds to find one (in which case it will replace a common from the main set).

Collector boosters have exactly one MAR card per pack; 25% of those are traditional foil.

Each MAR card appears at the same rate; that's to say, if you find one MAR card in your pack, there's a 1/40 chance for it to be any specific card from the bonus sheet.

Will Spider-Man Marvel Universe Cards be on Arena?

Yes, but they'll look a little different. MTG Arena is not allowed to use Spider-Man cards on the client, for undisclosed reasons, but the Arena team created the Through the Omenpaths solution to work around this.

In other words, the bonus sheet cards can't come to Arena with the original Spider-Man comic book art, likely due to licensing reasons, but since they're all reprints to begin with, Arena programmed the entire bonus sheet using art that already existed for these cards. The exceptions are cards from other non-Magic IPs, including Reprieve and Unexpected Windfall, and Tangle, for some reason.

Are Marvel Universe Cards Affected by Through the Omenpaths?

Yes, they are. MTG Arena and MTGO do get the MAR cards, but with altered in-universe names and art (rather than names and art from the Spider-Man IP).

For example: Instead of having Arachne, Psionic Weaver, MTG digital platforms get Yera and Oski, Weaver and Guide. It's mechanically identical to the SPM release, just with a different name and art.

Are All Marvel Universe Spider-Man Cards Mythic Rares?

Sort of. All paper versions of Marvel Universe cards have “M” in their collector number, as all mythics do. But their distribution in boosters is different from main-set cards, and all MAR cards appear at the same rate. In other words, this bonus sheet is evenly weighted (rather than split into uncommon/rare/mythic tiers). Play Boosters only have 1 MAR card every 24 boosters, making MAR much rarer than proper mythics.

MAR cards show up in a dedicated slot in Collector boosters, and you're 100% guaranteed to get one in each booster – in that sense, they are more “common” than proper mythics from the main set.

These cards have been “rarity-adjusted” on MTG Arena to match their appropriate rarity for their power level. In other words, a card like Shock appears as a mythic in paper, but a common on Arena.

Are Spider-Man Marvel Universe Cards Standard Legal?

Not unless they are already legal in the format (and the same is true for Pioneer). These reprints do not affect format legality.

Currently, just five MAR cards are Standard-legal:

The Most Valuable Marvel Universe cards from Marvel’s Spider-Man

These prices were taken from TCGplayer on Sept. 12th, 2025, and are subject to drastic changes over the next few days and week.

As a broad rule of thumb, cards drop between 50-90% in the first week after a set is released.

Venom, King in Black (Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon) – $59

Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is a solid mono-black commander, usually leading mono-black infect shells. It plays very well in the 99 of dragon and infect builds.

There's no way that Venom, King in Black costs more than $15 based on playability alone, though the art here is amazing, and Venom surely has a ton of fans who will pay a premium to collect it. But all other versions of this Phyrexian dragon (including Secret Lairs) are well below $20, so I doubt $59 will be a realistic number post-release.

Reanimate – $49

Reanimate is such an iconic Magic card that it has become the verb for the extremely common tactic of cheating some Big Bad into play from your graveyard. In spite of its many years, it's still the best reanimation effect in the game.

Still, what's true for Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is true for this iconic black sorcery: There are tons of reprints, including a very recent reprint in Final Fantasy Commander, and they all hover in the $5-10 range. I doubt MAR's version will cost between 5-10 times more.

Terminate – $46

Terminate rhymes with Reanimate but, as Jules from Pulp Fiction says: “It ain't the same league; it ain't even the same Magic sport.”

Or, bluntly put: This is a $.50 card. That, yes, has one Secret Lair version that costs about $10. And, yeah, this Rakdos removal is hugely popular in casual Commander. But no, it's not in the $20 league, let alone the $50 sport!

Wedding Ring – $45

Okay, now we're back with a card that doesn't have other versions costing cents: The cheapest Wedding Ring you can find is from Doctor Who and costs at least $5.

On the other hand, this white artifact isn’t too popular even in casual pods and has absolutely no competitive pedigree. The MAR art is adorable and is a match made in heaving with the card's name, but as with other cards in this list you probably want the price to drop quite a bit before adding it to your cart.

Spider-Gwen, Web-Warrior (Najeela, the Blade-Blossom) – $44

Now this one is a powerhouse. Spider-Gwen, Web-Warrior (who, under the hood, is not Gwen Stacy but rather Najeela, the Blade-Blossom) is one of the most popular commanders overall. It sits at the very top of any ranking of 5-color commanders, warrior commanders, top-tier cEDH commanders… you get the gist: Spider-Gwen is badass, no cap.

And it's clear that WotC has a thing for Najeela because that's who they chose to portray none other than Cloud himself, in the Through the Ages bonus sheet from Final Fantasy.

Najeela, the Blade-Blossom can indeed cost a pretty penny when it's cosplaying a famous Universes Beyond character. As Cloud Strife it's priced at about $25; as Warhammer‘s Archaeon the Everchosen (from a Secret Lair) Najeela costs about $35.

So Spider-Gwen, Web-Warrior could perhaps cost about $30-$40 even post-release. Still, most cards drop in price by a lot; keep that in mind if you're after Gwen.

And that's the gist of Spider-Man‘s Marvel Universe bonus sheet, folks!

Forty Magic staples, reprinted with artwork from the Spider-Man comic. You will rarely find them in Play boosters, but always find one in a Collector booster. Most of these reprints are not Standard-legal, but you can add any of them to your Spider-Man Limited deck.
