Green and white in MTG, or Selesnya , is a very creature-centric color pair thatโs considered one of the fairest color combinations. It usually wins with creature combat, tokens, +1/+1 counters, or auras. But with the right cards, some creature combinations actually go infinite, and you can use these combinations for making infinite life, tokens, triggers, and in some cases, your opponents' lands even disappear!
Today weโll take a look at the best combos this color combination has to offer, and hopefully leave you with something you can use to surprise your opponents.
What Are Selesnya Combos in MTG?

Enduring Scalelord | Illustration by Clint Cearley
Selesnya combos in MTG are combos that require green and white cards, or cards with this combined EDH color identity. We can use gold, hybrid cards, and even some lands/artifacts whenever required.
Selesnya combos mostly require creatures on the battlefield, and sometimes enchantments or auras. Green and white have plenty of ways to tutor for creatures or enchantments,ย so youโll usually want effects like Green Sun's Zenith, Chord of Calling, or Eladamri's Call to make these combos more consistent.
#17. Emeria Shepherd + Sakura-Tribe Elder
Cards: Emeria Shepherd and Sakura-Tribe Elder.
Prerequisites: Both cards are in play.
Result: You get all Plains from your deck into play.
Variations: None.
With Emeria Shepherd in play, sacrifice Sakura-Tribe Elder (Steve), getting a basic plains from your deck, triggering Emeria Shepherd. Since you put a Plains into play, you're allowed to reanimate your trusty Steve, repeating the process. This way, you can fetch all the basic Plains from your deck into play.
#16. Enduring Scourge
Cards: Wildwood Scourge, Enduring Scalelord.
Prerequisites: Have Enduring Scalelord on the battlefield, cast Wildwood Scourge.
Result: Both creatures get infinite +1/+1 counters.
Variations: You can have both creatures on the battlefield and cast another spell that adds +1/+1 counters, or a creature that enters with +1/+1 counters.
When Wildwood Scourge enters, it will put some number of +1/+1 counters on itself, which will also put a +1/+1 counter on Enduring Scalelord. This triggers Wildwood Scourge again, creating a loop and putting infinite +1/+1 counters on both creatures. This can snipe a player off just by attacking with a huge flying Scalelord.
#15. Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward + Eternal Witness + Any Blink Effect
Cards: Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward, Eternal Witness, and Cloudshift.
Prerequisites: You have Eternal Witness on the battlefield, Cloudshift in your hand, and you cast Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward.
Result: Infinite enter triggers, infinite leaves triggers.
Variations: Replace Cloudshift with any blink card like Ephemerate.
This combo is more common in Azorius colors thanks to the many blue creatures that can recover an instant or sorcery. The idea is to have Eternal Witness in play, and cast Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward, exiling the Witness. You then cast Cloudshift on Abdel Adrian, blinking it and returning Eternal Witness into play, which recovers the Cloudshift. Abdel Adrian returns to play, exiling Eternal Witness, and the loop continues.
#14. Annoying Bear Lock
Cards: Kudo, King Among Bears and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite.
Prerequisites: You control both creatures on the battlefield.
Result: Your opponents canโt have creatures on the battlefield without the use of anthems or +1/+1 counters.
Variations: None.
Hereโs a simple combo that works as a lock. Kudo, King Among Bears makes all creatures into base 2/2 creatures, while Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite gives all opposing creatures -2/-2. If Kudo is your commander, thereโs a great incentive to run Elesh Norn just for this board wipe alone.
#13. Elesh Revolt
Cards: Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Nature's Revolt.
Prerequisites: Have both permanents on the battlefield.
Result: Your opponents lose all their lands.
Variations: None.
This is a much more expensive, rage-inducing, and devastating combo, as you'll turn all lands into 2/2 creatures that instantly die due to Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. After investing 12 mana into this combo, Nature's Revolt turns your creatures into 2/2s, which get buffed to 4/4 creatures thanks to Elesh Norn, while your opponents lose all their lands. You can even attack for the win with your lands, if they donโt quit on the spot.
#12. Kodama Landfall
Cards: Kodama of the East Tree, Felidar Retreat, and a bounce land.
Prerequisites: You control both Kodama of the East Tree and Felidar Retreat, and you play a bounce land (Selesnya Sanctuary).
Result: Infinite landfall triggers.
Variations: We can use different landfall payoffs like Tireless Tracker, Tireless Provisioner, and Scute Swarm.
This is a green + insert another color(s) combo. All we need is Kodama of the East Tree in play and a bounce land. If I play Selesnya Sanctuary, Iโll then return it to my hand because I need to bounce a land. Kodama lets me put a 0-mana permanent into play, so I just drop the land again and repeat this process. With Felidar Retreat in play, I can create infinite 2/2 tokens, or spread infinite +1/+1 counters around. Itโs a fairly trivial combo when you use this legend as a partner commander.
#11. Sanctum Weaver + Gauntlets of Light
Cards: Sanctum Weaver and Gauntlets of Light.
Prerequisites: Have Sanctum Weaver on the battlefield enchanted by Gauntlets of Light, and at least two more enchantments.
Result: Infinite mana
Variations: You can use Faeburrow Elder instead of Sanctum Weaver if youโre playing four or more colors.
Sanctum Weaver is a very combo-friendly card. After you enchant it with Gauntlets of Light, you need to have at least two more enchantment cards in play, and each time you tap Sanctum Weaver, you generate four white mana and use three to untap it, so you get infinite mana.
#10. Saffi Eriksdotter + Karmic Guide + Altar of Dementia
Cards: Saffi Eriksdotter, Karmic Guide, and Altar of Dementia.
Prerequisites: You have Saffi Eriksdotter and Altar of Dementia in play, then cast Karmic Guide.
Result: Infinite enter triggers, infinite leave triggers, infinite mill.
Variations: Other free sacrifice outlets like Ashnod's Altar for infinite mana; Sun Titan or Renegade Rallier as redundant pieces.
This combo is a little more elaborate. Having Saffi Eriksdotter and a free sacrifice outlet like Altar of Dementia in play, cast Karmic Guide. Karmic Guide will trigger; with Karmic's trigger on the stack, you sacrifice Saffi Eriksdotter, targeting Karmic Guide. Altar of Dementia makes a player mill two cards. Karmic Guide returns to play, returning Saffi Eriksdotter to play as well. You'll then sacrifice Saffi (mill two more), targeting Karmic, sacrifice Karmic (mill two more), and repeat this process until all your opponents are milled. Each loop mills six cards, so you need a lot of repetitionsโbetter tell everyone theyโve already lost.
#9. Eldrazi Displacer + Brood Monitor
Cards: Eldrazi Displacer and Brood Monitor.
Prerequisites: You have Eldrazi Displacer and cast Brood Monitor.
Result: Infinite enter and leave effects, infinite death triggers.
Variations: If you can double the number of tokens created with a card like Anointed Procession, then you have infinite tokens as well.
This is a combo that can be played in your colored Eldrazi decks, and it combines two creatures from the same MTG block, so it saw some play in formats like Standard and Pioneer. If you already have Eldrazi Displacer in play, just cast Brood Monitor, and the magic happens. Brood Monitor creates three Eldrazi Scion tokens that provide 3 total mana when sacrificed. This mana is used to activate the Displacer's blink ability. Blink the Monitor, get three more Eldrazi Scions, and repeat.ย
#8. Swift Druid
Cards: Devoted Druid and Swift Reconfiguration.
Prerequisites: You have Devoted Druid in play, it doesnโt have summoning sickness, and you cast Swift Reconfiguration.
Result: Infinite mana.
Variations: You can also use Vizier of Remedies to cancel the -1/-1 counters placed on Devoted Druid.
Here's one excellent way to produce infinite mana in Selesnya . Enchant a Devoted Druid in play with Swift Reconfiguration. Devoted Druid will become a vehicle, so you can tap and untap it to oblivion, because the vehicle wonโt die from -1/-1 counters being placed on it unless it's crewed. The total combination of effects costs 3 mana but yields infinite mana, so itโs a very efficient combo.
#7. Spike Feeder + Heliod, Sun-Crowned
Cards: Spike Feeder and Heliod, Sun-Crowned.
Prerequisites: Both permanents are in play
Result: Infinite life
Variations: Cards like Cleric Class and Archangel of Thune can also provide +1/+1 counters on lifegain.
This is a simple combo, and one of the many combos with lifegain and Heliod, Sun-Crowned. When you remove a +1/+1 counter from Spike Feeder, youโll gain 2 life, which triggers Heliod and replaces the +1/+1 counter on Spike Feeder. Infinite life, simple as that. If you have creatures and a card like Archangel of Thune, you can win pretty easily.
#6. Siona, Captain of the Pyleas + Shielded by Faith
Cards: Siona, Captain of the Pyleas and Shielded by Faith.
Prerequisites: You have Siona, Captain of the Pyleas in play, and you cast Shielded by Faith.
Result: Infinite tokens.
Variations: None.
This combo produces infinite 1/1 tokens, similar to classic Splinter Twin situations. With Siona, Captain of the Pyleas in play, attach Shielded by Faith to it, and produce a 1/1 token. This token entering triggers Shielded by Faith again, and you'll enchant the token, triggering Siona again. If you have Siona as your commander, this aura is very interesting as a one-card combo.
#5. Doubling Mice
Cards: Yenna, Redtooth Regent, Three Blind Mice, Doubling Season.
Prerequisites: You have Yenna, Redtooth Regent, Three Blind Mice, and Doubling Season on the battlefield, as well as two mana available to activate Yenna.
Result: Infinite tokens, infinite enchantments, and constellation triggers.
Variations: You can use Calix, Guided by Fate instead of Yenna, Redtooth Regent, but it needs to attack and deal combat damage.
Yenna, Redtooth Regent can be activated to make a copy of another enchantment. If you control Doubling Season, your sagas will get double lore counters, so a saga will trigger both its first and second chapter.
When Three Blind Mice is in play, make a copy of it with Yennaโs ability. The copy of Three Blind Mice enters play, triggering the second chapter and making a copy of itself, which also triggers its second chapter, repeating the loop.
#4. Aluren + Whitemane Lion
Cards: Aluren and Whitemane Lion.
Prerequisites: You have Aluren in play and Whitemane Lion in hand.
Result: Infinite enter triggers, infinite leaves triggers.
Variations: You can use Fleetfoot Panther instead of Whitemane Lion.
This is a pretty easy combo to pull off. With Aluren in play, you can simply cast Whitemane Lion for free as many times as you want, producing infinite enters or leaves triggers. Better have some creaturefall payoffs in play, like Guide of Souls, which gives you life and energy to benefit from all these free triggers.
#3. Rosie Counters of South Lane
Cards: Basking Broodscale and Rosie Cotton of South Lane.
Prerequisites: Have both creatures in play.
Result: Infinite tokens, infinite Food.
Variations: Any creature that makes a token when +1/+1 counters are put onto it can replace Basking Broodscale, like Scurry Oak and Herd Baloth. If they make green creatures, you can use Ivy Lane Denizen instead of Rosie Cotton.
This is another simple combination of two creatures that yields infinite resources. When Rosie Cotton of South Lane enters, it'll create a Food and put a +1/+1 counter on another creature. If this creature is Basking Broodscale, you create a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token, which triggers Rosie Cotton again, and you may repeat this process again and again.
#2. Midnight Gond
Cards: Midnight Guard and Presence of Gond.
Prerequisites: You have Midnight Guard in play, and you cast Presence of Gond targeting it.
Result: Infinite tokens.
Variations: A card like Soul Warden in play will allow you to gain infinite life.
Also known as Pauper Splinter Twin, Midnight Guard enchanted with Presence of Gond produces infinite 1/1 elf tokens. Youโll tap the Guard and make a 1/1 elf token, which untaps the Midnight Guard. The tokens donโt have haste, but in a format like Pauper, if you have ways to protect your tokens, youโll probably win next turn.
#1. Armageddon + Heroic Intervention
Cards: Heroic Intervention and Armageddon.
Prerequisites: You have both cards in hand.
Result: People want to kill you.
Variations: None.
First, cast Heroic Intervention. It resolved? Ok, now it's Armageddon time. This results in all your opponents' lands being wiped away while yours stay untouched. From this point on, youโll have some time to think about what you want to do, while your opponents scrape their decks to find land.
Wrap Up

Selesnya is the fairest color combination, compared to colors like blue or black that are more combo-y, and that leads this color combo to usually hate on our opponents via hate bears. That said, there are plenty of creature-related combos that we can explore in these two colors across different formats. And if you want to juice up your GWx decks, give one of these combos a try.
