Oh, you though Magic: The Gathering was done with Final Fantasy? You thought Wizards of the Coast was content only making infinite money off their FIN collab just a few months ago?
As any self-respecting fan of the franchise knows, there's nothing truly final about Final Fantasy. And apparently that goes for MTG's biggest cash chocobo of all time. MagicCon Atlanta‘s right around the corner, and there are rumors of a new Final Fantasy product on the way, which will debut at the Con.
Please, May I Have Some More Final Fantasy?

Copernicus1981 on r/MTGRumors posted an image of a poster that was sent from Wizards of the Coast to various local game stores, in this case Final Boss – Cards and Tabletop in Pennsylvania. According to a social media post by the store, Wizards included a note with the poster, which reads: “Stay tuned to Magic Con Atlanta for a special announcement.” The poster in question simply depicts a bunch of differently-colored chocobos with the Final Fantasy logo.

MagicCon Atlanta's going to be a big event already, and it's already been stated that players will get a look at upcoming sets from 2026. There's likely to be several previews for November's Avatar: The Last Airbender set, and the Friday Preview Panel has already promised a deeper look at Lorwyn Eclipsed. That'll include Secrets of Strixhaven, and likely at least one of the Universes Beyond sets coming up next year.
But what about this secretive Final Fantasy message? Didn't we wrap up with that gold mine of an MTG crossover a few months ago? Apparently not, as WotC has something FIN-related on the way.
Chocobo Bundles Incoming?

People dug up some information on additional Final Fantasy products quite some time ago. Seems there's something called a “Chocobo Bundle” in the works, as well as a Scene Box for Final Fantasy. Scene Boxes have appeared in other Universes Beyond sets like Lord of the Rings and Marvel's Spider-Man, so we have a pretty basic idea of what that might look like. The interesting part is the Scene boxes thus far have included mechanically unique cards that weren't part of the mainline sets, and if that's the case for this upcoming product, that means more new Final Fantasy cards on the horizon!

The contents of a Chocobo Bundle are up in the air too. The original post showing the price of the supposed bundle had it marked as 129.95€, or roughly $150USD. That's way too expensive to be a normal boxed Bundle, so this might be more in line with the Commander's Bundle coming out with Avatar. Best guess is that it includes some assortment of Play boosters and Collector boosters, and a smattering of promo cards. And something related to chocobos, perhaps.
Speculation seems to point towards some sort of special holiday release, which also happened with Lord of the Rings. The original mention of a Final Fantasy holiday product has since been removed from any official Wizards of the Coast pages, but this new product could easily be exactly that.
Maybe it's something Secret Lair related, though Secret Lair's already had a bite at that apple. Maybe this isn't a product announcement at all, but some sort of event people can participate in. Or maybe, just maybe, it's a live burning of all the serialized golden chocobos that were never discovered by the public. Anything's possible.
Stay Tuned

Whatever it ends up being, something related to Final Fantasy is getting announced at MagicCon Atlanta, which takes place between September 26-28 (Fri-Sun). Some of the Magic panels at that event will be live-streamed or recorded, but there's no word on whether this FIN announcement will be one of those, or if it'll be a small mention during the middle of another panel.
It's a good bet that you'll hear something about this during the Friday Preview Panel, and if not then, you'll definitely know something new by the end of that weekend. Good news for anyone itching for more Final Fantasy in MTG, bad news for your bank accounts.
