Lorwyn Eclipsed promised to bring back the major creature types of the original Lorwyn block, which meant the glorious comeback of the underrepresented kithkin. Unfortuntately, the set fell kind ofโ€ฆ short. Even so, weโ€™ll take a look at the best kithkin commanders you can build around and what makes each one stand out. Intrigued? Letโ€™s see the few options we have.

What Are Kithkin Commanders in MTG?

Kithkin commanders in Magic: The Gathering are legendary creatures that belong to the kithkin race, a small folk tribe from the plane of Lorwyn. We're including anything with โ€œlegendaryโ€ and โ€œcreatureโ€ in its typeline.

In Commander, kithkin decks are mostly about playing aggressive, creature-focused Magic. They lean into go-wide strategies, strong combat mechanics, and a simple tribal theme that rewards attacking together and protecting the team.

#3. Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile

Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile

Combat becomes your strongest tool with Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile. It changes how attacks and blocks work by damaging opposing creatures before combat damage, making it much safer for your side to attack. Itโ€™s especially deadly when paired with Basilisk Collar, since deathtouch and lifelink let Brigid clear boards while gaining life. Cards like Thousand-Year Elixir, Magewright's Stone, and protection such as Swiftfoot Boots help keep it active every turn.

#2. Brigid, Clachan's Heart / Brigid, Dounโ€™s Mind

The upgraded version of Brigid plays like a classic go-wide kithkin leader that rewards you for filling the board with small creatures. Brigid, Clachan's Heart helps you build an army with kithkin tokens, while Brigid, Doun's Mind turns that wide board into real mana acceleration. The green color identity adds extra depth, letting you turn that mana into game-ending plays with finishers like Craterhoof Behemoth or tutors such as Green Sun's Zenith. The plan stays simple: curve out, attack in numbers, and use your creature count as a powerful resource.

#1. Gaddock Teeg

Gaddock Teeg

Gaddock Teeg is the most disruptive kithkin commander, combining aggressive creatures with hard limits on what opponents can cast. The decks using it play low to the ground, applying early pressure while Teeg shuts off expensive non-creature spells and big X-spells. This forces fair, combat-focused games where kithkin excel at swarming and trading efficiently. Strong pairings include Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Ethersworn Canonist, and anthem effects like Honor of the Pure to keep pressure high while opponents stumble.

Kithkin may not be the deepest tribe in Commander, but if you enjoy aggressive, creature-driven games where teamwork and tribal theme matter, kithkin are well worth revisiting.
