Any experienced Magic player knows that playing the game doesn’t just mean buying cards, but also a variety of accessories to go along with them. You need deck boxes, ways to protect your more expensive cards, and storage for your bulk. You may also need ways to organize booster boxes or Commander Cubes for repeatable Limited experiences. A lot of players like using playmats to keep their cards off the table and make them easier to pick up.
Of course, there are also Magic products that aren’t just for playing the game. Fans might want to show off their love for the game with a T-shirt, or collectibles like minis of their favorite characters. Then there are the many novels you can read to learn more about the story behind the game.
While so many products to choose from can be a good thing, it can also be overwhelming. You’ll want to get the most out of your money, especially since Magic can be a pretty expensive hobby. Hopefully this guide will give you some direction on which products to check out. Let’s get into it!
What’s the Best MTG Product to Buy?
Of all the products I looked at for this list, I think the overall best one is UltraPro’s card sleeves. Card sleeves are essential if you want your cards to last longer, and they also help your cards retain their value if you ever want to trade or sell them off.
UltraPro’s sleeves are high quality and reasonably priced. There’s a variety of different styles, colors, and textures, meaning whatever type of card sleeves you like most, you can likely get them from UltraPro.
- 100 standard sized Deck Protector sleeves
- ChromaFusion technology provides a fully opaque backing, split-resistant seal, and effortless glide shuffle
- Archival-safe, polypropylene materials mean premium protection for your valuable cards
- Manufactured in California, USA
- Prefer a glossy card front? Try my counter-part, Eclipse Gloss!
What Sealed MTG Product Should I Buy?

UltraPro Pro-Matte Sleeves
If you’re looking for card sleeves, UltraPro’s Pro-matte sleeves are a great choice. Matte sleeves are good for a couple reasons: they’re easy to pick up due to their rougher surface, and they don’t stick to one another. This means you can open them up and start playing with them right away, making them a good option for Limited events.
UltraPro’s matte sleeves aren’t too grippy, which makes them easy to shuffle without having to force the cards to mix. They also come in a variety of colors which can help you easily identify your decks by just looking at their sleeves. UltraPro’s sleeves are also very reasonably priced.
- Solid color Deck Protectors with Ultra PRO"s hologram quality seal.
- Clear side uses non-glare matte material for softer feel and smoother shuffle.
- Stores and protects standard sized cards.
- 100-count pack.
- All Ultra PRO Deck Protectors are archival-safe and acid-free.
Infinity Vault Sideloader 200 Commander Deck Box
If you’re looking for an all-purpose deck box, Infinity Vault’s Sideloader 200 Commander box is the best option. It has storage space for two sleeved 100-card decks, as well as a tray for dice. It has individual smaller holders for each deck that offers extra protection for your cards and makes it easier to take your decks out.
A lot of Commander players have more than one deck, but even if you don’t you can still use the extra storage for tokens, or extra cards if you want to make changes between games. It’s also a good choice for Limited events since you can separate your sideboard options from the cards you aren’t using.
The box is reasonably priced at around $30.
- Enhanced Capacity - This double deck box has been optimized to comfortably store 100+ double sleeved cards in each of its two sideloading card trays (200+ in total), and it includes an accessories tray to accommodate your needs for dice, tokens, counters, or simply extra cards. Ultimate Guard Card Binders
Ultimate Guard has a good selection of card binders both for storing and trading. Their ZipFolio XenoSkin binder comes in a variety of sizes.
The largest can hold up to 480 cards, which could be used for collectors who like to create binders of an entire set. The smallest option which holds 160 cards is a great travel-sized binder for trading at local stores. The outside of the binder is pretty solid, so you don’t have to worry about it bending and damaging your cards, and it zips shut so cards won’t fall out if you accidentally drop it.
- PLAYSET binder: view and organize your collection in a more suitable way
- 20 pages holding up to 480 double-sleeved cards
- Innovative XenoSkin cover material with anti-slip texture
- 4-column rows design and extra clear 12-Pocket pages
- Zipper closure for secure transportation and major protection
Original Magic Art Playmats
One of the best places to get Magic playmats with official card art is from Original Magic Art. The site has high-quality playmats with a variety of art from tons of popular Magic cards. Even better, the site partners with Magic artists and shares some of the profits with them, so every playmat you buy from the site goes to support your favorite artists from the game.
The one downside to Original Magic Art is the limited quantities of a lot of the playmats. It’s important to pay attention to upcoming releases to snag your favorite artwork before it’s gone. The site also sells tokens, art prints, and dice if you’re looking for more products from your favorite artists.
BCW Bulk Storage Boxes
When it comes to storing bulk cards, you don’t necessarily need to worry about protecting them as much as your more valuable cards. But you still probably want a nice organized way to store them, which is where BCW Storage boxes come in.
There are plenty of different sizes, but if you have a large collection I’d recommend the Card House. Cards can be divided by set, color, type, or however best helps you find what you need.
- Holds up to 9600 standard sized trading cards
- Includes 12 800 count boxes
Cubeamajigs Commander Cube And Draft Storage
Cubeamajigs are a unique type of card storage that allows players to create their own booster packs with sleeved cards. You can use this to reseal a booster box to draft again later, or you can create your own Commander Cubes. The packs come in a variety of colors and can feature Magic art.
Cubeamajigs proved so popular with Magic players that their Series 2 Kickstarter raised over $400K. The upcoming products are now available for preorder. They include new art for the individual packs as well as different boxes for storing Commander Cubes.
Invasion Novel By J. Robert King
Invasion by J. Robert King is the first book in the Invasion cycle, which is the climactic end to the Weatherlight saga. It includes many of the most important characters from Magic’s earlier story like Sisay, Gerard, and Urza. Some characters are still around in Magic’s current story, like Squee and Karn, so this is a good book for that if you’re curious about their older journeys.
Invasion follows the Weatherlight crew and their allies as they face off against the Phyrexian invasion of Dominaria. It’s both an exciting story on its own and kicks off events that have long-lasting effects on Magic’s multiverse that are still relevant today.
- Amazon Kindle Edition
- King, J. Robert (Author)
- English (Publication Language)
- 317 Pages - 03/27/2018 (Publication Date) - Wizards of the Coast (Publisher)
MTG Pro Shop Magic T-Shirts
If you’re looking for some Magic merch that you can wear, MTG Pro Shop has official Magic apparel. There are sweatshirts and T-shirts that feature both art from Magic cards as well as some original artwork. There are evergreen shirts and apparel for the latest sets.
The site has one of the largest selections of Magic apparel online, and it’s the best place to look if you want to wear something connected to the game.
MTG Legacy Collection Figures
There’s actually a surprising lack of MTG action figures for a game as old and popular as Magic. One of the best options available is the Funko Magic: The Gathering Legacy collection. There are only a few figures of popular planeswalkers like Jace, Nissa, and Liliana.
These figures are more detailed than Funko’s Pop Vinyl line and are the best option for scale versions of fan-favorite characters since most options are more stylized.
WizKids Unpainted Omnath Figure
For fans of painting miniatures, Wizards has a licensing deal with WizKids, who’ve been releasing unpainted MTG minis. While which miniature is your favorite is ultimately up to you, one of the coolest options is their version of Omnath.
The unpainted Omnath mini is pre-primed, so you can start painting it right out of the box. It’s also translucent, allowing you to faithfully recreate Omnath’s pure energy form. The pose is based on Omnath, Locus of Creation, which lets you be creative in how you choose to include his four different colors.
- Omnath Unpainted Magic Miniature Figures Deep Cuts WizKids
- This is a 1-count miniature pack
- Not for Children under the age of 14 Years. - All miniatures are unpainted.
- These highly detailed miniatures are pre-primed with Acrylicos Vallejo primer
