The Goblin Storm Secret Lair precon sold out moments after release and has quickly gone on to sell for massive prices on the secondary market; if you want a copy of Goblin Storm off TCGPlayer, you’ll be set back a cool $435, at time of writing.
If you were lucky enough to get ahold of the precon, you might find it below muster, as precons often are. I have nine stellar upgrades for Goblin Storm, assuming you keep Zada, Hedron Grinder in the command zone.
Ancestral Anger + Accelerate + Might of the Meek
Ancestral Anger, Accelerate, and Might of the Meek all power up the deck along the same access: They’re 1-mana draw too many cards to be fair. A few red cantrips are already in the deck, but you should play pretty much all of them.
Monstrous Rage
Monstrous Rage might be the best red pump spell, and it’s a shame it didn’t get cool art in the precon. It’s +3 damage for each creature you control and offers trample; that combination turns comfortable blocks into lethal damage from nowhere.
Otherworldly Outburst + Felonious Rage + Turn Inside Out
Otherwordly Outburst, Felonious Rage, and Turn Inside Out are your best friends against board wipes. Red doesn’t get team-wide protection, but these and Zada ensure you have something post-Damnation.
They can also be finishers with Goblin Bombardment and Boggart Shenanigans since you can effectively sacrifice each creature you control twice—maybe three times since these abilities stack.
Downhill Charge
Downhill Charge represents a killer amount of damage, but I’m mostly interested in a free instant. Nothing blows your opponent out like letting them line up blocks when they think you’re tapped out and can’t add more damage to the board.
Dreadmaw’s Ire
Dreadmaw's Ire provides extremely efficient artifact removal. This deck attacks early and often, so you can Shatter a pesky Sol Ring early and count on it to do a Vandalblast impression later on.
Untimely Malfunction + Redirect Lightning
Goblin Storm is criminally lacking in the protection department considering how much of a removal magnet Zada is. I’d recommend at least Untimely Malfunction and Redirect Lightning to keep it safe, and more redirect effects if you can find them.
Electroduplicate
Electroduplicate is just lots of fun with Zada, Hedron Grinder; it just doubles your board! Toss it with a pump spell and your opponents go from comfortable to dead in no time since the tokens have haste.
Flashback
It’s hard to argue with Flashback in a Zada deck. The deck relies on instants and sorceries, and cheap ones at that. Why yes, I’d love to cast Fist of Flames on all my creatures twice in one turn; what could go wrong?
Sundering Eruption
While trample-granting combat tricks are a great way for Zada to find lethal, unblockable can also play a role. Sundering Eruption doesn’t directly interact with Zada, but it ends your opponents’ hopes of stopping that sick Haze of Rage turn, and at a negligible opportunity cost since you can play the MDFC instead of a Mountain.
