A post by WotC's official X account has pretty much confirmed that Deathcap Glade will be reprinted in the upcoming Innistrad Remastered set next January.

While the tweet does not mention the card by name, the card art featured is unmistakably Sam Burleyโ€˜s Deathcap Glade:

Deathcap Glade

Originally printed in Innistrad: Crimson Vow as part of the enemy slow lands โ€“ nicknamed โ€œslowโ€ since these dual lands will normally enter the battlefield tapped in your first couple of turns, and untapped afterward โ€“ this Deathcap Glade teaser strongly suggest that INR will bring back the whole VOW slow land cycle:

And given the nature of this remastered set, if the enemies are here, it's a safe bet that the allies can't be far behind! Expect the ally slow land cycle from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt to make an appearance too:

Innistrad Remastered won't affect the metagame of any of Magic's multiple formats, given that INR cards will only be legal where already available. But the MTG market will surely take notice. While the majority of the Innistrad slow lands have been recently reprinted, there are two that never have been and remain quite more expensive than the rest.

Never Reprintedโ€ฆ Yet

Eight of the ten slow lands were reprinted in Doctor Who, while Deathcap Glade and Shattered Sanctum have never been seen outside their original sets. This has had a clear effect on their market price: Glade and Sanctum are the only two slow lands that cost more than $10, whereas the others sit between $2 and $6 according to MTGStocks.

Before the Standard rotation, Deathcap Glade was a staple in Golgari Aggro, and Shattered Sanctum saw a lot of play in Esper Raffine, two of Standard's strongest decks at the time. Both cards slowly declined in price from $15 to $10 during the first half of the year as Bloomburrow approached, but have remained stable at around $10 since then.

Compare that trend with Dreamroot Cascadeโ€˜s, which was reprinted in Doctor Who in October 2023โ€ฆ

โ€ฆ. which pushed its price to around $4, and then got reprinted again as part of the Tricky Terrain Modern Horizons 3 Commander precon, dropping further to around $2.

Will Prices Drop?

With the usual disclaimer that this is not investment advice (always do your own research!)โ€ฆ

โ€ฆ very likely yes, above all for Deathcap Glade and Shattered Sanctum.

For starters, as noted, Innistrad Remastered won't change a card's legality. INR won't re-introduce the slow lands in Standard; so in other words, demand won't increase.

And, while very popular in Commander, these slow lands haven't seen too much competitive play outside their tenure in Standard. In other words, Deathcap Gladeโ€˜s and Shattered Sanctumโ€˜s much higher price point is almost certainly due to scarcity, rather than higher demand.

If you have a few extra copies of those two, you may want to get rid of them sooner rather than later.

And if you were waiting for their price to drop before buying them, it looks like Edgar Markov will magnanimously grant you your wish.
