Magic's The Hobbit crossover has been out for a week now, and Middle-earth is still doing most of the heavy lifting in the Magic card market: dwarves and treasure cards continue to climb as MTG players settle on their favorite new commanders.
But there are a couple of green cards that are also getting an extra push from competitive Modern. Let's take a look at the biggest movers!
Gimli of the Glittering Caves
Looks like it's still dwarf season.
Gimli of the Glittering Caves has roughly doubled in price since last week, continuing a climb that actually began during The Hobbit previews.

This isn't a case of players suddenly discovering that Gimli exists. Gimli of the Glittering Caves came out three years ago in Commander: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, and he's already seen plenty of casual Commander play.
What changed is that The Hobbit gave him two great new homes: At the time of writing, roughly 78% of Thorin, King of Durin's Folk decks include Gimli of the Glittering Caves, and the number is almost as high with Dรกin of the Ancient Halls.
But, as it turns out, Gimli's older home is still greatโฆ and running hot, too: Magda, Brazen Outlaw.
Magda, Brazen Outlaw
We covered Magda, Brazen Outlaw last week after some versions more than tripled in price. She was already one of Magic's 100 most popular commanders and easily Magic's most popular Dwarf commander, but The Hobbit gave her both a pile of new toys and several new places to work in the 99.

Thorin, King of Durin's Folk is Magda's clearest new home when she's not in the command zone. Around 80% of Thorin decks currently include Magda, Brazen Outlaw, which puts her in auto-include territory. And, as we noted last week, Magda's not particularly picky when it comes to choosing sides: She's also in roughly 63% of Smaug the Magnificent decks, where Treasure is basically the dragon's entire personality.
Magda, the Hoardmaster
Thing is, there's more than one Magda!
Magda, the Hoardmaster is also climbing sharply, and while she benefits from some of the same Commander demand as Magda, Brazen Outlaw, she's definitely more of a Smaug card than a Dwarves-matter card.

But it turns out that Magda, the Hoardmaster may have found a very different crowd to roll with: aggressive Mono-Red and Boros decks in Standard, which with multiple Magda copies in the main deck have been getting solid results in MTGO Challenges this week.
Alchemist's Talent
Here's another card for treasure-hoarding dragons: Alchemist's Talent. This Commander: Bloomburrow Class enchantment is running red-hot this week, with copies around $18 after an increase of more than 200%.

Current numbers are pretty telling: around 69% of Smaug the Magnificent decks currently include Alchemist's Talent, and it also sees a lot of play in Smaug the Impenetrable and Smaug, Wicked Worm decks.
Disciple of Freyalise
Not everything this week is about dragons sitting on piles of gold, though!
Disciple of Freyalise has been trending upward for a while, and the green MDFC is getting demand from both Commander and Modern.

Commander players already liked this card long before The Hobbit. The front half gives you a creature that can sacrifice another creature to gain life and draw cards equal to its power, while the back half, Garden of Freyalise, is a pretty good land. And The Hobbit has provided another home. Disciple of Freyalise is showing up frequently with Radagast of Rhosgobel, where being an Elf on the creature side certainly doesn't hurt.
But competitive demand is probably the bigger story here. Disciple of Freyalise sees top-tier Modern play, including the Allosaurus Combo deck which Yuuki Ichikawa piloted during the Modern rounds on his way to winning Pro Tour Marvel Super Heroes in Amsterdam last month.
And she sometimes shows up in Devoted Combo, with another elf that's making waves in the Magic card market: Tyvar, the Pummeler.
Tyvar, the Pummeler
Tyvar, the Pummeler is another card being pulled upward by two very different formats.
This Duskmourn: House of Horror card is seeing quite a bit of play in Modern, usually in Devoted Combo lists (and, from time to time, sharing the main deck with Disciple of Freyalise).

But in Tyvar's case, the story is much more about Commander. Thranduil, the Elvenking has become The Hobbitโs most popular commander, and Tyvar, the Pummeler currently appears in more than half of Thranduil decks.
The synergy is pretty straightforward: Thranduil, the Elvenking gains the activated abilities of Elf cards in your graveyard. Since Tyvar, the Pummeler is an Elf, dumping him into the graveyard gives Thranduil access to his indestructible ability. That's especially valuable for a commander whose entire strategy depends on keeping him on the battlefield while piling useful Elf abilities into the graveyard!
