Wizards of the Coast announced the next Secret Lair Superdrop: Back to School! A total of eight new Secret Lairs were announced, all which go on sale April 27, at MagicSecretLair.com. Iโm breaking down their contents and highlighting any staples or pricey cards getting a reprint!
Secret Lair X My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Defense of the Heart leaps out as the high-value card in this drop; the market price of most copies on TCGplayer hovers around $21. Nothing else here is particularly expensive, though it has decent Commander staples in Arcane Signet, Sol Ring, and Generous Gift, plus the other two cards are easy to slot into decks.
Secret Lair X My Little Pony: The Lands of Equestria

The Lands of Equestria Secret Lair contains full-art basic lands with key characters from My Little Pony. This feels very binary: Either you love the property and want this, or itโs a skip. Notably, basic lands from a Secret Lair often fetch above average prices on the secondary market since you need so many basics for a deck.
Omens of Chaos

The Omens of Chaos drop depicts characters from Omens of Chaos, the Secrets of Strixhaven novel written by Seanan McGuire. While it lacks any high-value reprints, Growth Spiral and Abrupt Decay are pretty playable cards, and the others are Commander playable.
Secret Lair X Dwarf Fortress: Create New World

Terror of the Peaks is the big reprint in this Secret Lair, and actually the most valuable card reprinted in the entire Superdrop at $30-ish. On top of that, we have Rune-Scarred Demon and Rogue's Passage as cards that see plenty of Commander play andโฆother spells with some card draw and +1/+1 counter synergy.
The Eyes Have It

The Eyes Have It is one of the more cohesive Secret Lairs in the Superdrop as these are all blue cards, albeit of varying power; we have Baleful Strix and Counterbalance as great staples, then Gitaxian Probe (with what I consider its best art!), plus other fine spells. Though it has no big-ticket items, all of these are playable, plus I think it has the most interesting art in the Superdrop.
Mahล Gakuin Seishun Hakusho โ ้ญๆณๅญฆ้ข้ๆฅ็ฝๆธ

You could call this one the Commander staples drop if you like. It might be pushing things to call Thought Scour a staple, but the card quality hereโs pretty high, even if the value isnโt there (Stinging Study is the most valuable, at around $7 for current printings). I like that this seems a Secret Lair I could pick up and use all of the cards in.
Notebook Genius

Speaking of Secret Lairs you can use all the cards in, Notebook Genius feels extremely cohesive as Anhelo, the Painter could reasonably be the commander of a spellslinger deck with the other three cards. Thereโs no crazy reprint value, but all four cards are solid staples I would expect to see in Commander.
Return to the Mystical Archive

Return to the Mystical Archive is, for my money, the worst drop in Back to School. It takes five of the Mystical Archive cards from Secrets of Strixhaven and uses the Japanese alternate art with English text. The art on all of these is stunning, of course, but itโs an odd choice to print a bonus product with a localization change like these. These arenโt even marque cards from the bonus sheet, so Iโm not sure why this product exists.
