Corporeal Projection (Ravnica- Clue Edition) - art by Anna Pavleeva

Last week, Modernโ€™s unbans from May 18th did most of the heavy lifting in the Magic card market. This week, those Modern spikes are holding, but the biggest movers are a mix of casual Commander's demand for scarce cards, and a couple of multi-format role-players getting great competitive results..

Letโ€™s take a look at this weekโ€™s biggest movers!

Corporeal Projection

Corporeal Projection

Corporeal Projection has just kept going!!

We covered this card last week, after it had roughly doubled from about $4.50 to $9. Well, apparently that wasnโ€™t the end of it. Since then, Corporeal Projection has doubled again, with copies now trading above $18.

The reasons remain the same. The extra demand comes from Corporeal Projection picking up interest thanks to Muddle, the Ever-Changing Commander decks: Muddle, the Ever-Changing cares about changing targets, and Corporeal Projection gives you a way to aim a spell at your own creature while creating a pile of temporary token copies through myriad.

And on the side of supply, Corporeal Projection  is itself fairly hard to find: It has a single printing from Ravnica: Clue Edition.

Fade from History

Fade from History

Fade from History is another card benefiting from demand across more than one lane.

On the Commander side, Fade from History has been seeing plenty of interest from Ygra, Eater of All decks. But this green sorcery is also a very competitive Modern card, above all as sideboard tech in Eldrazi Ramp decks (where it's sometimes a 3x, even if in the sideboard!)

And, like Corporeal Projection, it has a single printing, in this case from The Brothers' War.

Vexing Bauble

Vexing Bauble

Vexing Bauble has had an interesting week, after getting a large spike in demand last week. Although back then this spike in demand didn't translate to prices, the market has caught up and now has doubled in price since last Friday.

This artifact was already fairly popular in casual Commander, strong enough to have gotten banned in Legacy, and it's even competitive in Vintage (Magic's most powerful format!), usually in Fleshraker MUD decks.

And it has recently managed to place pretty high in several top-tier cEDH tournamentsโ€ฆ and in different decks!

In short: This is what a multi-format powerhouse looks like. And, as it's usually the case in the MTG card market, price follows performance!

Generous Ent

Generous Ent

Like Vexing Bauble, Generous Ent seems to be heating up thanks to its competitive edge in more than one format, and has roughly tripled in price in the last couple of weeks.

It sees very little play in multiplayer Commander, but it's been getting top-tier results in Tasigur, the Golden Fang decks in Duel Commander (the 1-vs-1 version of the 100-card format).

And in 60-card decks, this green creature has been punching up in two different formats, and across several decks. Living End decks in Modern are getting very good results in MTGO leagues, usually main-decking a full playset, while in Pauper both Balustrade Spy decks and Urzatron decks include some copies.

Modern Unbans Not Crashing

Crashing Footfalls Violent Outburst

Last weekโ€™s biggest story was Modernโ€™s banned and restricted announcement, especially the unbanning of Violent Outburst. That card exploded almost immediately, and Crashing Footfalls came along for the ride as players started looking back toward cascade strategies.

And, so far, their (new) price has held! Crashing Footfalls has not crashed, and Violent Outburst has come down a bit from its immediate post-unban high, but not by much.

More importantly, both are still trading far above where they were before the unban announcement. And while not breaking Modern (at least for nowโ€ฆ), they have both returned to the competitive arena in great shape!
