Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed was extremely varied, with 7 different archetypes making it into the top 8. And some of those decks, including the winner, were complete surprises: Brand-new decks that most players didn't see coming.

This week, the Magic card market has reacted to this surprise. Big time!

Sunderflock โ€“ Over 700%

It's quite rare for a card from a new Standard set to spike so heavily so soon after the set releases, but that's what becoming a left-field success story in a Pro Tour will do to your prices! Although the new Izzet Spellementals deck didn't manage to clinch the #1 spot, it had one of the highest win rates in the event: a crazy 70%!

Sunderflock

โ€œIzzet Spellementals was another breakout deck based around the raw power of Sunderflock,โ€ wrote MTG Hall of Famer Frank Karsten in his Metagame Mentor: Standard Win Rates and Lessons from Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed article. โ€œSpellementals put up eye-catching numbers, with its fifteen pilots' records adding up to an 80% win rate versus Cub decks and a 63% win rate versus non-Cub decks.โ€

Sunderflockโ€˜s price soared after this performance, from less than $1 to well over $10 initially, and now hovering at about $8 for near-mint copies in the US market.

And, as it turns out, it's not just because it has become one of the best decks in Magic's Standard format: Sunderflock also sees a lot play in Ashling, the Limitless EDH decks, with Ashling, the Limitless currently being the most popular commander from Lorwyn Eclipsed, and looking strong enough for cEDH

Nurgle's Rot โ€“ 400%

While Sunderflockโ€˜s spike is all about amazing performance, this week's second biggest spike looks more like speculation: , a black aura from Universes Beyond: Warhammer 40,000, just spiked from about $2 to nearly $10 in just a couple of days, when around 70 near-mint copies were traded in three days (when it normally trades that much per month.)

The biggest suspect here is Killian, Decisive Mentor from Secrets of Strixhaven Commander, spoiled last week: Half the Killian, Decisive Mentor decks being theorycrafted pack a copy of Nurgle's Rot.

The synergy is pretty straightforward: Whenever an enchantment you control enters, Killian taps up to one target creature and goads it. Goaded creatures must attack if able, which makes them all the more likely to dieโ€ฆ which is exactly what Nurgle's Rot needs to trigger

And Killian also lets you draw a card whenever one or more creatures that are enchanted by an Aura you control attack. Again, a win/win deal between Nurgle and Killian.

Harvester of Misery & Insatiable Avarice โ€“ 350%

Sunderflock was one of the big winners from Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsedโ€ฆ but was not the winner.

The #1 spot went to another new brew, Dimir Excruciator, the hottest reanimator deck in Standardtown and the deck with which Christoffer Larsen claimed the Pro Tour trophy last weekend.

โ€œThe deck that ultimately won the Pro Tour, Dimir Excruciator, came as a major surprise,โ€ wrote Frank Karsten. And the Magic card market is reacting to that.

Harvester of Misery

Harvester of Misery, which works both as spot removal for a small creature or to shrink your opponent's whole board, saw a massive jump after Larsen took down the tournament; like Sunderflock, current prices are lower than that huge spike, but still 350% above last week's prices:

Something similar has happened with Insatiable Avarice, another black card from Outlaws of Thunder Junction that is a 3x in Christoff Larsen's deckโ€ฆ

Insatiable Avarice

โ€ฆ and which went from a bit over $2 last week, to around $11โ€“$12 right now.

What's more: Insatiable Avarice is finding its way into K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, cEDH decks and looks very competitive in Duel Commander.

Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile โ€“ 300%

Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile was a kithkin archer in the original Lorwyn. Time has passed, and in Lorwyn Eclipsed, Brigid is a soldier or warrior, depending which side of Brigid, Clachan's Heart you're looking at.

And the new Brigid seems to be pushing OG Bridig's price up. Brigid, Clachan's Heart has become quite a popular Lorwyn Eclipsed commander, and often includes Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile in the 99.

I'd be a bit careful with the current prices, though: At the moment of writing, you can find a couple of near-mint copies listed at around $6 or so. Still a pretty big increase versus the $3 it cost seven days ago, but well below the $10-$12 we've seen this week.

Superior Spider-Man โ€“ 150%

Superior Spider-Man was already the foundation of reanimator decks in Standard, so it being at the heart of Dimir Excruciator lists didn't impact its price as much as Insatiable Avarice or Harvester of Miseryโ€ฆ

โ€ฆ but a #1 spot in a Pro Tour sure didn't hurt: You could get a near-mint copy for about $2 last week, but it's over $5 now:

Twilight Diviner โ€“ 150%

Another Lorwyn Eclipsed card, but a no-show in the Pro Tour: Twilight Divinerโ€˜s spike seems more fueled by speculation than current usage or competitive results

Source: MTGStocks

Twilight Diviner is indeed among the most popular cards from Lorwyn Eclipsed, mind you. But doesn't seem (yet) to have a commander it's super-popular with, and costs a lot more than other LCL cards with similar popularity; make sure you do your own research if you're thinking about buying some copies.
