As the sun sets on Final Fantasy a week after it's release, players start to divert their gaze to the last real Magic: The Gathering set of 2025: Edge of Eternities. A preview panel was held early afternoon at MagicCon Las Vegas, which revealed some new facts about the upcoming โ€œspace odysseyโ€ set.

One of those new tidbits was the inclusion of the โ€œStellar Sightsโ€ bonus sheet, which focuses entirely on lands. In addition to that, we've got some exceptional reprints coming to Standard, as well as an array of awesome full-art basic lands.

Stellar Sights

Lands are a major theme of Edge of Eternities. People could've maybe already guessed that from some of the initially previewed artwork, the proposed setting (friggin' outer space, man), and one of the Commander decks being centered around land reanimation. But now it's confirmed.

One addition to the set will be the Stellar Sights bonus sheet, which includes lands from throughout Magic's history, and includes multiple versions of certain lands. They're a little weird, with the card name in the text box you'd expect to see the card type, but if the Mutavault that was previewed is any indication, these will be stellar indeed.

Shocks in Standard, Baby!

Did someone say shock lands in Standard? No? Well we're getting shock lands in Standard! The enemy-colored shocks will return to this mainline Standard set (not part of the bonus sheet), making them legal for the first time since Guilds of Ravnica/Ravnica Allegiance Standard.

Notably, these are the second set of typed duals in Standard alongside the surveil lands from Murders at Karlov Manor, but there aren't any proper fetches. There's almost no chance we see traditional fetches in an upcoming set, but maybe we'll get fetch-adjacent cards to take advantage of all these typed dual lands. The Verges from Duskmourn and Thunder Junction kind of already fit the description.

Also, reprinting five shocks assuredly means the other five are coming at some point. Seems unlikely they'll be in any of the Universes Beyond sets, so maybe players can expect these in the return to Lorwyn at the start of 2026. The return to Strixhaven/Arcavios also seems unlikely given the color identities represented by the schools there.

Basic Lands

Maybe not as titilating as the other categories, especially since every set has awesome full art basics these days, but just look at these! They're gorgeous, and reminiscent of the space-themed basics from Unfinity. But as you'll recall, we don't talk about Unfinity in this house.

Let the Speculation Begin!

This is only our first look at Edge of Eternities, which releases on August 1st. There's already a ton of gorgeous art out there, and many pieces depict what very well could be new lands or land cycles. In particular, there was speculation going around that EOE would feature a mythic rare land cycle, which seems even more likely given the confirmation of lands as a major focus.

What's going up on that bonus sheet? When will we see the other five shocks in Standard? Time will tell, with another spoiler season sneaking up on us way sooner than it feels like it should, given that Final Fantasy just released. But guess it's time to start looking at the Clouds and start looking up at the clouds, you follow?
