Spark Bundle MTG Arena Store

Spark Bundle MTG Arena Store

Players rejoiced when WotC announced that there would be a way to buy wildcards directly on MTG Arena. The feeling of spending your cash to open pack after pack looking for a specific card or just to open enough packs for wildcard progression is atrocious, and itโ€™s worse if you need a specific mythic rare.

At least now we have a way to get these high rarity wildcards directly in the Arena Store, and if youโ€™re in the market for that, may I suggest the Spark Bundle? Itโ€™s a very interesting product and I give you some arguments about whether you should get the bundle or not. Youโ€™re probably going to, and hereโ€™s why.

What Comes in the Spark Bundle?

The Spark Bundle contains 4 mythic rare wildcards and 4 rare wildcards, as well as 1,500 gems and cosmetics like a new Magic Arena themed sleeve and a Slimefoot avatar. Cosmetics are hit-or-miss between players, so I account for the gems and the wildcards here as most of the bundleโ€™s value.

What Do You Get Out of the Bundle?

You get resources that help you with the MTG Arena economy. Wildcards are key for completing new decks, and gems let you enter events like Drafts, or buy new packs, which in turn will reward you with new cards and wildcard progression.

Breakdown of the Numbers

Rare and Mythic Wildcard bundles on Arena

Four of a kind for rares and mythics are pricy in the Wildcard Bundles on Magic Arena.

You pay $24.99 for the Spark bundle, which has an estimated value of around 4,150 gems (3,400+750) or about $40.

You can match the money you'd spend on the Spark Bundle and buy the 3,400 and 750 gem bundles separately but for less value.

Excluding the value of the sleeves and the avatar, you get 1,500 gems in the bundle and 8 wildcards. Considering that the wildcards can also be bought in the store, hereโ€™s a quick comparison:

  • 4 rare wildcards = $9.99
  • 4 mythic wildcards = $19.99
  • 1,500 gems = about $10.00
  • Total = about $40.00
  • Bundle Cost = $24.99
  • Benefit = ~$15.00

The question is: How badly do you need the wildcards? If you need wildcards to complete a deck or a given set, this is the best way to do it. If you want to enter formats like Timeless, Historic, or Alchemy, this bundle can give you a boost to acquire cards you donโ€™t have.

Will this Bundle Help Me Get New Alchemy Decks?

This is exactly what you need to build new Alchemy decks. If you use Arena Tutor (and you totally should, by the way) to know which metadecks you should build, you know how many wildcards you need. Hereโ€™s a quick look at how this works:

Arena Tutor Decks from Alchemy

The Alchemy metagame's top decks by win rate.

I have Arena Tutor open in the Metagame section. I also take a look at the Alchemy decks sorted by win rate. Here we can see the top decks by win rate % and how many wildcards I would need to build them. So, to finish this Mono-Red Burn build I need two rares, six uncommons, and one common. Jund Midrange is a little bit harder because Iโ€™d need five mythics and 15 rares. By getting the Spark Bundle I could get the wildcards needed and some gems to go after more packs and cards.

Can You Buy the Spark Bundle Multiple Times?

You canโ€™t buy the Spark Bundle multiple times. This is a one-time-only purchase, as shown in the picture below. Thatโ€™s how the MTG Arena store works: You get the one-time purchase items and bundles which are usually good value, and after that, youโ€™re back to converting dollars into gems or other products.

Should You Buy the Spark Bundle?

The Spark Bundle is a great value if you need the wildcards. Wildcards are excellent for upgrading your starter decks or building a meta deck from scratch to eventually branch into other formats. Players that stick to Limited on Arena have less need for wildcards since you use gold and gems to enter and cannot use wildcards in Draft, Sealed, or other special events.

Whether youโ€™re a total MTG Arena beginner or a veteran, you want to get the most bang for your buck. There are definitely ways to extract the most value from the Arena store. WotCโ€™s sells really interesting one-time bundles on Arena, and if youโ€™re in the market for spending some cash on the client, these bundles are really good.
