Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is almost out of the sewers: the worldwide tabletop release is Friday, March 6, 2026.

And because this MTG set absolutely had to ship with c-c-combo potential, thereโ€™s already a new infinite loop making the rounds, powered by a mutant frog, a Final Fantasy chef, and a  very old blue instant.

The Genghis Frog, Quina, Qu Gourmet, and Artificial Evolution Infinite Combo

First, let's check what we need, and what they do.

  • Genghis Frog is one of the main ingredients: a new Simic legend from TMT that makes a Mutagen token whenever it (or another Mutant) enters under your control.
  • Quina, Qu Gourmet is the other main ingredient: whenever you would create any tokens, you create those tokens plus a 1/1 green Frog token instead.
  • Artificial Evolution is our secret sauce: a instant that permanently replaces one creature type word on a spell/permanent with another.

Mutagens are a new type of artifact token you can pay , tap, and sacrifice (at sorcery speed) to put a +1/+1 counter on a creatureโ€ฆ but don't worry about that; we're not interested in activating these.

So, how does this work?

First, we need Quina, Qu Gourmet on the battlefield.

Then we need to be able to cast Artificial Evolution, and be able to put Genghis Frog in play.

Last but not least, we need for Genghis Frog plus for Artificial Evolution. And you may also want to have an extra manaโ€ฆ more about this in a bit!

With all that set up, cast Genghis Frog, and here's the spicy part: You hold priority and cast Artificial Evolution targeting Genghis Frog on the stack. And when Artificial Evolution resolves, you change every instance of โ€œMutantโ€ on Genghis Frog to โ€œFrog.โ€

So from now on, Genghis Frog effectively reads: โ€œWhenever Genghis Frog or another Frog you control enters, create a Mutagen token.โ€

Now we let the original Genghis Frog trigger resolve. It creates a Mutagen tokenโ€ฆ

โ€ฆ and because Quina, Qu Gourmet sees tokens being created, it adds an extra 1/1 Frog token too. When the new 1/1 Frog token enters the battlefield it triggers Genghis Frog.

Genghis' trigger resolves โ†’ you create a Mutagen token โ†’ Quina, Qu Gourmet adds another 1/1 Frog token โ†’ that Frog enters โ†’ triggers Genghis Frog againโ€ฆ

Result: Infinite Tokensโ€ฆ And a Draw!

The combo will get you:

  • infinite Frog creature tokens
  • infinite Mutagen tokens
  • infinite ETB triggers

โ€ฆ but because none of this is optional, it becomes a mandatory infinite loop. If nobody can interrupt it, the game ends in a draw. Nobody winsโ€ฆ and nobody loses!

Wait! Where Are the Brakes!?

Luckily for us, this mandatory, infinite โ€œends-in-a-drawโ€ combo does have brakes, in case you want to stop it: Quina, Qu Gourmet activated ability!

Remember those mana that you may want to have around, on top of the we need to set up this chain reaction?

Quina, Qu Gourmet lets you sacrifice any frog for โ€ฆ and if that frog happens to be Genghis Frog while his trigger is on the stack, then you break the loop.

IWhen Genghis' โ€œmake a Mutagenโ€ trigger is on the stack, activate Quina and sacrifice Genghis as the cost. Then let the trigger resolve. Youโ€™ll get one last Mutagen + Frog, and then itโ€™s over.

And, by the way: Even if you could stop it this way, you don't have to if you don't want to. The infinite loop itself is still mandatory, and if you think a huge army of frogs won't be able to win you the game, you can end it in a draw.

Wrap Up

TMT is absolutely stuffed with combo potential (Leonardo, Cutting Edge + Agatha's Soul Cauldron + Walking Ballista for infinite damage/lifegain; Casey Jones, Back Alley Brute + The Red Terror for infinite damage; The Neutrinos + Aurelia, the Warleader for infinite combats).

This Genghis Frog + Quina, Qu Gourmet + Artificial Evolution line adds a nice twist to the list: Infinite doesnโ€™t always mean you winโ€ฆ sometimes it means โ€œnobody loses, let's get some pizza!โ€

Why not just cast the artificial evolution on the Quina and change frog to mutant? Rather than change Ghengis on the stack?
