This week, the Magic market was split between three very different kinds of demand. This week's reveals from the upcoming Marvel Super Heroes have made some green creatures go nuts. But Modernโs post-unban shakeup is still pushing cards upward, while Final Fantasyโs most popular commander is showing why she got the title.
Letโs take a look at MTG's biggest movers!
Bloodroot Apothecary
Bloodroot Apothecary usually sees a pretty healthy amount of demand, with somewhere between 20 and 50 near-mint copies selling per day on TCGplayer. Thatโs already a respectable baseline for a Commander card from Commander: Bloomburrow.
Yesterday, though, that number went completely off the rails. Close to 800 near-mint copies traded in a single day, roughly 20 timesthe cardโs usual daily volume. Demand was so high that, at the time of writing, there are only about 50 copies left listed on TCGplayerโฆ that's to say, a single day of inventory left when you consider the previous demand, let alone with the current hype.
The price has shot accordingly, from about fifty cents last week to over five bucks at the time of writing.

The supply drain seems tied to two new reveals.
For starters, it's clearly squirrel season! When you look at the card's ability there's not really that much overlap between Bloodroot Apothecary and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl revealed yesterdayโฆ
โฆ but it's clear that Magic players have said โIt's squirrels, all the way down!โ and the Apothecary already shows in half of the new Squirrel Girl brews.
But, interestingly, it seems that the main factor may be an interest for Bloodroot Apothecary in decks with The Serpent Society in the command zone: The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl was revealed three days ago, while the card that got revealed yesterday is The Serpent Society.

Like with Squirrel Girl, the synergy is not too strong (the Apothecary cares about noncreature tokens, while The Serpent Society cares about nontoken creaturesโฆ), but nevertheless the poison synergy seems to be enticing enough that players are theorycrafting with the Apothecary in the 99.
And it's a safe bet that squirrel season is only just starting: Other squirrel staples, like Chatterfang, Squirrel General, are going up!
Living End
Living End decks in Modern have been revitalized by the unbanning of Violent Outburst, with the titular Living End seeing its price increase as much as 250% across its many versions.

Living Endโs spike is nothing close to what we saw with Crashing Footfalls, mainly because Living End decks never lost their competitive edge and can win without Outburst (while the Rhinos just crash if they don't get Violent), but depending on the printing Living End has still seen a hefty move upward.
Y'shtola, Night's Blessed
By now, Y'shtola, Night's Blessed needs no introduction. She's the third most popular commander in the last two years (even though she's been out for just one!) according to EDHREC.
And she seems to be gunning for the #1 spot: She's by far the most popular commander in the last 30 days, leaving Secrets of Strixhavenโs Witherbloom, the Balancer a distant second.
As usual in the Magic card market, popularity brings increased prices: In spite of her huge supply, that even brought her price down a bit back in March, Y'shtola's regular version rebounded sharply last week, and with some premium versions also showing upward pressure.
