Secrets of Strixhaven, released last Friday, continues to be the biggest factor in the Magic card market this week. A lot of the movement comes from the Commander format, but competitive Standard has thrown a new contender into the mix.
Let’s take a look at the week’s biggest movers!
Diabolic Revelation
As we reported last week, Diabolic Revelation is hot. And it hasn't cooled down one bit!
The reason remains the same: this black tutor looks downright absurd in Witherbloom, the Balancer decks. Nearly half of the new Witherbloom brews include a copy, and the Elder Dragon is, by a good margin, the most popular Secrets of Strixhaven Commander right now, according to EDHREC. Witherbloom’s cost reduction works with X-spells. So if you have 10 creatures on your board, you can pay just to tutor up seven cards with Diabolic Revelation. And if those cards happen to be instants or sorceries, Witherbloom can discount those too.
Diabolic Revelation was almost at $4 last Friday (up from roughly $2 since the previous week), and now has quadrupled, with copies trading yesterday for over $16. All in all, a borderline silly 1,600% increase during April!

There seems to be a slight pullback today, though, with a few near-mint copies trading for a lot lower, and at the time of writing some copies listed on TCGplayer sit around $13.
The upward trend also seems to be holding for other cards with strong Witherbloom, the Balancer synergy. Sedgemoor Witch, for example, is up about 20% since last Friday, after more than doubling in price the week before.
Blex, Vexing Pest
Looks like Blex'n'Blech's is indeed gonna be a thing! As we reported last week, Blex, Vexing Pest is seeing tons of play in the 99 of Blech, Loafing Pest decks. It's a pretty natural fit: Blex & Bleach both care about the same creature types, Blex, Vexing Pest is itself a Pest, and there’s obvious lifegain overlap between the two cards.

Just like Diabolic Revelation, Blex's price has kept climbing, with some near-mint copies now listed at around $10-11 at the time of writing.
Timely Ward
Timely Ward went up by 50%-100% in the last seven days, depending on the printing.

This one was already a pretty popular casual Commander card. It tends to show up with commanders like Eriette of the Charmed Apple, Aminatou, Veil Piercer, and Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice, and it’s very close to an auto-include with the latter.
What's new now is that auras are getting a lot of love, thanks to Killian, Decisive Mentor, the face commander of the new Silverquill Influence Commander precon. And Timely Ward is a cheap, useful aura that can protect your commander at instant speed.
Umbra Mystic
Here’s another Killian, Decisive Mentor mover, though I'm a bit more skeptical about this one.
Umbra Mystic is up about 80% since last week, which makes sense on the surface. It’s an aura-matters card, it protects enchanted permanents, and broadly speaking that's the kind of deck Killian, Decisive Mentor wants.

The price increase looks organic, but there may be a bit of speculation here, with buyers just grabbing any aura-matters card that could work with Killian. Only around 13% of Killian, Decisive Mentor decks currently include a copy of Umbra Mystic, so while there’s definitely interest, this white human wizard doesn't look like an auto-include.
Professor Dellian Fel
Professor Dellian Fel is this week’s non-Commander story. While most of the recent price action has been tied to Secrets of Strixhaven Commander decks, Professor Dellian Fel is making pretty big waves in competitive Standard.
In his Pro Tour Secrets of Strixhaven Standard Metagame Breakdown, WotC’s Frank Karsten singled out this planeswalker as one of the new additions helping bring Golgari Midrange back into the format.
“Several cards sparked entirely new archetypes or revived strategies that had nearly disappeared before Secrets of Strixhaven,” Karsten writes. “Most notably, Professor Dellian Fel, with its high loyalty and versatile abilities, has helped usher Golgari Midrange back into relevance.”

Interestingly, Professor Dellian Fel seems to have flown under most players' radar. It fell to around $7 when Secrets of Strixhaven released last week… but by now it has rebounded quite a bit and it's trading today at roughly twice as much.
And if Golgari Midrange does well in the Pro Tour Secrets of Strixhaven this weekend, it could spike even more.
