MTG Arena is a program with tons of options and hidden features that a lot of players, especially new ones, need to learn to maximize their potential.
Did you know that the game has a Profile, and that it gives you more than just data about your account? What if I told you that you can customize it around how you can play the game?
If that piques your interest, wait until I show you what’s there and how to go beyond what Arena gives you naturally. Let’s get into it!
What’s On Your MTG Arena Profile?
The very first thing displayed on your MTGA Profile is your player ID, which is case sensitive and must be shared with other community members to play direct games. The rest of your Profile is split into three significant sections: Seasonal Rank, Collection Progression, and Cosmetics.
Seasonal Rank
The Seasonal Rank section reflects your current ranking in Constructed and Limited, and the rewards tied to each level.
You can click back and forth between both ranked formats and see the rewards tied to each level. It’s worth pointing out that Limited and Constructed rewards vary.
Progression
The Progression section previously only had the Set Mastery on it, but the Set Collection was added more recently.
The Set Mastery button takes you to the Set Mastery tab. It serves as a shortcut to see where you currently are on your Set Mastery and if it’s worth buying (you should!) if you’re close to completing it.
If you click on Set Collection you can find information relevant to the cards in your collection per set. It gives a summary of the current completion percentage of the selected set and more granular data like rarity or color. You can also sort it from newest to oldest at will, and the badges attached to the set change color to gold once you complete them.
Cosmetics
Cosmetics are located at the bottom right corner of your profile. From here you can change emotes, pets, card sleeves, and avatars.
How to Set Default Cosmetics
Emotes
Emotes are part of the game, and you manage them here to choose which ones you want to use. These emotes are divided into two categories: stickers and phrases.
On the left you’ll see the “classic” phrases that are unequipped. The ones on the right are the ones you may have acquired from the previous set Mastery Pass. Those can be enabled or disabled at will. Stickers appear in the middle of the screen. Like emotes they can be equipped or unequipped by clicking on them. You can have up to 10 stickers and 15 Phrases equipped.
Here’s how to select your default emotes:
1. Click on an emote/phrase you want to use. Selected emotes will be brighter while unselected ones are slightly see-through.
2. Click “Confirm” when you’re done to save the emotes you’ve selected.
Pets
You can only have one pet per game, and this is where you set them as default for all your new decks.
1. Click on the pet you want to use.
2. Click “Set Default” on the bottom right to set it as the pet you use by default when you play.
3. You’ll see the pets that can be purchased at the time at the bottom of the list. These will have a “Store” button instead of “Set Default” on the bottom right.
Sleeves
Here’s where you can find all the sleeves you’ve currently acquired and the ones available for purchase.
To set default sleeves:
1. Click on the sleeve you want to set as the default for new decks.
2. Click “Set Default” on the bottom right.
Avatars
Like sleeves and pets, the avatars page shows the ones you own and lets you look at the ones available in the Store.
1. Click on the avatar you want to represent you.
2. Click “Set Default” on the bottom right to set it as your avatar.
Can You Change Your MTGA Profile Name?
Since your name has an ID as a unique identifier, you can’t change your profile name. You can submit a ticket to Wizards to do so, but you should have a good reason to ask for a name change. Otherwise your request is likely to be rejected.
Can You Check Your Profile Stats?
No. You can’t access stats like your winrate, your best-performing decks, or your best-performing cards.
Arena Tutor has you covered, though. You can look at the above stats and more with this tool. It provides summarized data for your play history. This data can significantly improve how you make decisions on how to play and build your deck.
Can You Delete Your MTGA Account?
Short answer, yes, but it takes work:
1. Open the “Adjust Options” menu in the top right.
2. Click “Account” on the bottom left of the Options menu that appears.
3. Click “Delete Account” from the new menu that appears.
4. You’ll be redirected to a support page where you can submit a ticket and ask for your account to be deleted.
Can You Reset Your Whole MTGA Account?
No, you can’t “reset” your MTGA account without making a new one. I see how this could be exploited otherwise. If you get enough currency for one Draft, it would take minimal effort to keep asking for a reset and play unlimited Drafts with your new account.

Your Profile gives you access to lots of data and ways to personalize your cosmetics. I just think it’s neat.
