Killian, Decisive Mentor

Whenever an enchantment you control enters, tap up to one target creature and goad it. (Until your next turn, that creature attacks each combat if able and attacks a player other than you if able.) Whenever one or more creatures that are enchanted by an Aura you control attack, draw a card.

If I’m being honest (and I never lie), this deck doesn’t excite me much. Aura strategies are just so narrow, even with a different spin on them, and the payoff provided by Killian isn’t that enticing. I like the political aspect, but we’ve seen a number of goad commanders in the past that sort of backfire after you get down to a 1v1 situation, so they have a hard time closing out the game. I don’t think Silverquill Influence does anything to mitigate that. I’m also not blown away by the new card selection, especially since three of them are just dual lands.

Silverquill Influence goes really hard on reprints though, so it’s a good value pick-up, but I’d be looking to scrap it for parts immediately.

Silverquill Influence is a WB enchantress deck with a subtheme of auras, and it includes incentives for putting auras on your opponents’ creatures. Basically, a new take on Eriette of the Charmed Apple (which is in the deck). Killian, Decisive Mentor leads the deck, goading creatures with what’s essentially a constellation trigger. It also draws you cards when creatures attack if they’re enchanted with one of your auras, whether that’s something of yours that’s attacking, or an opponent’s creature you buffed and goaded.

Scriv, the Obligator is a bit wordy, but it just slaps auras on opposing creatures and rewards your opponents for sending those enchanted creatures at other players. Cool political concept, but the goad and card draw from Killian feels way too important to run Scriv as the commander.

Upgrading Silverquill Influence

I’m not going to try to elevate the Bracket level on this deck, but I want to simplify the game plan into two phases. At first, you build your board by enchanting your opponents’ creatures and loading up on enchantresses and incentives for your opponents to attack each other. Then, once your opponents are low on health and left without suitable blockers (dead or tapped out), swing in with one or many of your own threats, preferably your Herald of Amity or something enchanted by one or more of your scaling auras. Mass enchantment reanimation taps down most of your opponents’ threats while Killian, Decisive Mentor is on the board, which is one of the reasons you don’t need as many sweepers as you might expect.
