Complete List of Reality Fracture’s Braintwister Series Cards and Where to Find Them

Reality Fracture has no shortage of alternate art treatments, but the Braintwister Series may be the most aptly named. These borderless cards take some of the set’s most memorable spells and permanents and give them a warped artwork straight out of Jace’s Echoverse.

So, what exactly are Braintwister cards, where can you open them, and which ones are worth keeping an eye on? Let's jump into Jace's Echoverse and find out.

What Are the Reality Fracture Braintwister Series Cards?

The Braintwister Series is one of Reality Fracture’s Booster Fun treatments: borderless alternate-art versions of 23 cards from the main set.

Reality Fracture revolves around Jace trying to re-create the Multiverse through the Echoverse, his (supposedly…) perfected version of reality. In Wizards of the Coast's official Collecting Reality Fracture article, Braintwister cards are described as bringing the “unreality of the Echoverse” to some of the set’s most mind-bending cards.

Braintwister illustrations lean into twisted anatomies, overlapping figures, impossible shapes, and weird perspectives. The Brainstwister alterante art of The Theorist, Jace Beleren, for example, surrounds Jace with fragmented faces and figures that seem to emerge from one another.

Unlike other Reality Fracture special treatments (like Shattered Mirror cards), Braintwister cards don’t come with unique foils or an elaborate, custom frame. The draw here is the surreal alternate artwork.

How Many Braintwister Cards Are There?

There are 23 Braintwister Series cards in Reality Fracture: five uncommons, 15 rares, and three mythic rares.

Where Can You Open Reality Fracture’s Braintwister Cards?

Braintwister cards aren’t exclusive to Collector Boosters. Both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters can contain them, although your odds are a lot better in Collector Boosters.

For Play Boosters, you can find an uncommon Braintwister in the dedicated uncommon slot about 3.8% of the time; or in the common/uncommon slot 3% of the time. The rare/mythic slot can contain a rare Braintwister 3.1% of the time or a mythic Braintwister less than 1% of the time, and the foil slot has another small chance (less than 1%) of being a Braintwister card of any rarity.

Rounding up a bit, the above numbers works out to roughly slightly less than 0.14 Braintwister cards per Play Booster on average. That's about one Braintwister card for every seven Play Boosters you crack, although do remember that variance is fickle and you can obviously run hotter or colder. You could even find more than one Braintwister card in a single Play Booster, although the odds for that are pretty slim (but not impossible!).

As you can probably guess, your odds are much much better if you're cracking Collector Boosters. Each of their two traditional foil uncommon slots has a 10.4% chance to contain an uncommon Braintwister. Another slot has a combined 49.3% chance of containing a nonfoil rare or mythic Braintwister, while the final foil Booster Fun slot has a combined 20.1% chance to be a foil rare or mythic Braintwister.

Taken together, that works out to roughly 0.9 Braintwister cards per Collector Booster on average. You can reasonable expect to end up with nine Braintwister cards if you crack 10 Collector Boosters. And, like with Play Boosters, it’s possible to open more than one in the same pack.

Can Braintwister Cards Be Foil?

Yes. Every Braintwister Series card is available in both nonfoil and traditional foil. Foils aren’t exclusive to Collector Boosters. The traditional foil slot in Play Boosters has a small chance of containing a Braintwister card, but Collector Boosters offer much better odds, particularly for foil uncommons and foil rare or mythic Braintwisters.

There isn’t a Braintwister-exclusive premium foil treatment comparable to the facet foils used for Reality Fracture’s Shattered Mirror cards. For this series, traditional foil is the best there is.

Are All Braintwister Cards Borderless?

Yep! All 23 Braintwister cards are borderless.

There are 23 Braintwister cards altogether. Here’s the complete list by color:

The five uncommons are Refute Destiny, Precise Redaction, Terminal Criticism, Essence Burn, and Flourishing Grapple. The three mythics are The Theorist, Jace Beleren, Tarmogoyf, and The Echoverse Fulcrum; everything else in the series is rare.

Tarmogoyf is the only reprint in the Braintwister series. All others are new cards that saw their first print in Reality Fracture.

#6. Hall of Echoes

Hall of Echoes can fit into any deck with its colorless color identity, and comes with an interesting copy ability. A lot of copy effects work around the legend rule by making the copy non-legendary, but Hall of Echoes goes a bit further: It turns off the legend rule for the rest of the turn, so you can use other copy effects to copy your legendaries (or play any number of them).

The Hall of Echoes Braintwister version may have another advantage with collectors: The alternate art received an enthusiastic response when it was revealed. That obviously has nothing to do with how good the card is in play, but since this is an article about the collectible alternate art version of a card, it's worth keeping in mind.

#5. Draconic Visitor

Yes, sure, why not, I'd like so super-size my tiny Treasure or Food tokens into huge 5/5 fliers. Thank you very much Draconic Visitor!

#4. Theorist's Sanctum

Utility lands that let you sink spare mana during the late game are always interesting. And Theorist's Sanctum also has the island subtype, which lets you find it with a fetch land.

Beholding Jace isn’t a small ask if you really need it to enter untapped, but for decks that sacrifice a bit of tempo for late-game power (or that are chock-full of Jaces, of course), Theorist's Sanctum is a very solid consideration.

#3. Tarmogoyf

Its competitive glory days may be behind it, but Tarmogoyf can still take down a Modern tournament from time to time. It's also the only Braintwister card that’s a reprint, and in this particular case we have nearly two decades of evidence to know that this card is good.

#2. Flickering Hound

Flickering Hound blinks another creature you control whenever you cast a creature spell, and it has no limitations: No “during your turn,” no “once per turn,” no extra cost.

The inevitable comparison is Displacer Kitten, of course, although Flickering Hound can only blink other creatures (the kitten can blink anything that's not a land) so it's not as strong.

Still, repeatable blinking with no extra cost or limitations screams “Put me in an infinite combo, pronto,” and judging by the number of Commander decks that have been theorycrafted with this puppy, there's a lot of players ready to oblige.

#1. The Theorist, Jace Beleren

It turns out that drawing cards is good. Shocking, I know!

Reality Fracture‘s Big Bad, The Theorist, Jace Beleren draws you a card at the beginning of each opponent's draw step, no strings attached, no hoops to jump through. And the Theorist's activated abilities aren't filler, either. It can create blockers to protect itself, and its -2 can bounce an artifact or creature for each opponent.

The Theorist, Jace Beleren seems like the clear best Braintwister card for Commander, but it's also massive bomb if you're drafting Reality Fracture. Definitely a card you should be happy to see in your pack!

Most Valuable Braintwister Showcase Cards

A giant disclaimer belongs on every price in this section: Reality Fracture doesn't release until October 2, 2026. What we’ll list below are preorder prices, based on thin supply, and with a considerable amount of prerelease hype.

Hall of Echoes – $24

The Braintwister version of Hall of Echoes got a lot of praise on social media for how good the art looks, which probably explain why it's among the most expensive of the bunch. And being a very solid utility land sure doesn't hurt!

Flickering Hound – $35

Displacer doggy Flickering Hound is currently around $35 for its nonfoil Braintwister printing. Repeatable blink effects are candy for a Commander brewer’s cauldron.

Draconic Visitor – $45

Yeah, displacer doggy can blink, but Draconic Visitor can fly. Fly well past $40 in this case, and hover around $45.

Extrapolate the Impossible – $50

At around $50, Extrapolate the Impossible is one of the more speculative entries on this list: There's very little data on it (even for pre-sale standards). Modern and Pioneer players have already been theorycrafting possible applications, so current prerelease prices probably reflect the possibility that Extrapolate the Impossible finds a home in tournament decks.

The Theorist, Jace Beleren – $97

At roughly $97, The Theorist, Jace Beleren is currently the most expensive nonfoil Braintwister card among this group by a comfortable margin.

For starters, it's a mythic, which obviously pushes its price higher (when looking at the regular art version, The Theorist, Jace Beleren is also among the top five most expensive cards in the whole set).

Jace is the set's central character, and its Miles Johnston artwork is arguably one of the best expressions of what the Braintwister aesthetic is trying to do. And the card itself is pretty good, making it a pricey combination.

Between some very playable cards and some wonderfully warped artwork, looks like Braintwister cards have plenty to offer both collectors and players. Just keep in mind that, until Oct 2 when Reality Fracture launches, we're dealing with pre-release prices. And prerelease prices are a lot more unstable than Jace's Echoverse.
