Villains Unleashed Scene Box | Illustration by Kieran Yanner
The contents of the Marvel Super Heroes Scene Boxes have been revealed, which puts a capstone on all the new cards from this set cycle. After the main set, Commander precon spoilers, and a massive Jumpstart tie-in, we get 12 news legends from these Scene Boxes to close out the set.
Heroes United
Heroes United puts the full Avengers cast on display. As with previous iterations of Scene Boxes, these products contain 6 new-to-Magic cards exclusive to this box, as well as 3 Play Boosters and art cards for each of the unique cards within, plus a small easel to display them on.

The Heroes United box contains the follow new legendaries:
- Iron Man, Futurist Paragon
- Hulk, Always Angry
- Thor, Guardian of Midgard
- Black Widow, Intel Expert
- Captain America, Unbowed
- Hawkeye, Trick Shot
In case you weren't paying attention and just needed to know, that brings the โCaptain Americaโ count to 11 new cards in just this set that mention the character. Wild.
None of these seem inherently broken or overpowered, which is good news for cards exclusive to a product like this. Hulk, Always Angry looks like it has the best shot at extensive Commander play as an oversized creature that wipes all artifacts from play when it enters. Soldier decks also get a nice new typal pick-up in Captain America, Unbowed.
Villains Unleashed
Everyone know villains get all the cool toys. Though the Villains Unleashed Scene Box matches the heroes box on quality.

The Villains Unleashed Scene Box contains the following new legends:
- Ultron, Machine Overlord
- Thanos, Death's Consort
- M.O.D.O.K., Evil Intellect
- Absorbing Mna and Titania
- Abomination, Irradiated Brute
- Loki, God of Lies
I find it a little strange that Absorbing Man and Titania get to share a card together but, like, Kang is right there with Loki and doesn't even get a mention. Oh well, I guess Black Panther got snubbed in the Hawkeye art above, too.
A couple cool ones here. Loki, God of Lies does an interesting impression of the Dack Fayden emblem, even if it's temporary. That's a fairly unique way to approach steal-and-sac for red. Absorbing Man and Titania doubles all damage from creatures you control, which includes abilities. It's two-thirds of a Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph, but doesn't lock you into 1-damage sources, and plays Gruul stompy like everything else in the color pair. I also like this M.O.D.O.K. design, giving the blue-black draw-2 archetype a sizeable payoff that it's been severely lacking.
You can pick up these Scene Boxes when the set officially releases on Friday, June 26. They have an MSRP of $41.99, and are pre-selling on TCGplayer for roughly that amount.
