We're seeing a ton of market movement on cards due to hype about Final Fantasy, and we're not talking about the mildly widespread price gouging on sealed FF product. We're talking about cards that are seeing some shine in light of spoiler season. We reported on Quicksilver Elemental last week, but this week we're throwing White and Green into the mix, and we've got a wider spread of cards for you.

The Counter Blitz precon revolves around Tidus, Yuna's Guardian. We're swinging, we're proliferating, and we're moving counters around. So, what cards are players planning on brewing with, you might ask? Lets explore the evidence.

New Capenna commander precons are having an unexpected moment due to Final Fantasy, no doubt about it. With the sheer number of counters types in the precon, there's a high chance you become a target after casting this cat advisor. Tidus is all about moving counters, and having synergy on top of potential redundancy here is certainly notable. It's doubled in price since April, going from roughly 30 cents, to roughly 60 cents.

Slippery Bogbonder

It's got flash, so you can fire it off on anyone's turn. It grants a hexproof counter, which is insurmountably good with Tidus. This thing is already in 42% of the early Tidus decks recorded on EDHrec.

It's even got hexproof itself, to it's slightly harder to remove. It also can move any number of counters of any kind from any number of creatures to one creature. People caught onto this one early, and it's no surprise that its up 167% in the last week.

Contractual Safeguard

New Capenna's Bant precon, led by Perrie the Pulverizer, is responsible for a few cards on the list. This one only caught on recently, and wow, does it work like a charm in Counter Blitz. At worst, it's either a main phase protection spell with a mega-upgraded proliferate effect. At best, it'sโ€ฆa main phase protection spell with a mega-upgraded proliferate effect. Imagine casting Bogbonder during an oppo's end step, then untapping and casting this spell. Hexproof counters for your whole board. It's up 153% in the past week.

Agent's Toolkit

Another New Capenna card, coming through to shine. This thing is providing ultimate evasive and defensive utility in the deck. If you can find creative ways to proliferate a ton, you'll be giving everything on your board. Like, if you have Inexorable Tide on the field, you essentially get free +1/+1, flying, shield, or deathtouch counter any time you cast a creature. Metastatic Evangel works comparably well here.

Falco Spara, Pactweaver

Removing a counter? Very easy in this deck. Casting the top card of your library? Sounds great! How about we Tezzeret's Gambit into Contentious Plan into infinity? How many counters are too manyโ€ฆ? The world may never know, but we do know that it's up 126% since last week.

Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus

This one isn't quite spiking, but players seem to be catching on to its considerable power in the deck. Two blue pips is a bummer for Bant, but that double proliferate goes bananas with Tidus. It'll be easy to activate its protective ability due your blitz of counters. This ONE villain also has somewhat low reprintability. It spiked when Tidus was first announced and has since cooled off a bit, but it's gone from $5 to $6 in the past week.

At the End Step, Proliferate

These are just a few of the cards we've seen moving up, down, and all around this spoiler season. Final Fantasy Prerelease is right around the corner. Stay tuned, as spoilers can drop at a moment's notice! The set is filled to the brim with bangers, the Bonus Sheet is shaping up to be a cEDH player's paradise. It feels like it's been designed both for Final Fantasy newcomers who know nothing about MTG, and for MTG players who crave high power shenanigans.

Remember, folks, none of this constitutes financial advice โ€” we're just tracking data here.
