Update on Reality Fracture Product Delays: See If Your Region Is Affected

Wizards has announced further delays for Reality Fracture product just before Prerelease events this weekend. While the original announcement implied minimal impact, it has recently been expanding to include more regions and products such as Commander precons and Collector Boosters.

Here’s a list of the regions affected, and the supply issues they may face:

• North America: Collector Boosters, Reality Fracture Commander decks, and Foundations Commander decks “are partially delayed,” with bundles delayed and possibly arriving after release. The Collector Booster delays include Omega Collector Boosters, which are individually packaged Collector Boosters for big retailers like Walmart and Target.
• Asia-Pacific: Collector Boosters, Bundles, and Reality Fracture Commander decks are all delayed. In New Zealand, Prerelease kits are delayed, and Wizards notes that they’re working with stores to reschedule impacted events in the first week of October.
• Europe, the Middle East, and Africa: Collector Boosters are delayed.
• Japan: Collector Booster, Reality Fracture Commander decks, and Foundations Commander decks are delayed.
• Latin America: Collector Boosters, Reality Fracture Commander decks, Foundations Commander decks, and bundles are all delayed. In Mexico specifically, all Reality Fracture products are delayed, with no date for when they’ll arrive or when prerelease events can be rescheduled.

For many of these delays, Wizards notes that supply might be “tight” around release. With the exceptions of New Zealand and Mexico, Play Boosters and Prerelease kits are largely unaffected, so this weekend’s events should go smoothly for anybody looking to play in the events. It’s unclear how widespread these delays are and how easily you can pick up other product at the events.

Will This Be A Consistent Problem?

When the original delay announcement went up on September 11, Wizards cited a drought affecting traffic through the Panama Canal as being responsible for delays, but that has been removed, which may suggest other distribution issues have piled on top. In a vacuum, delays such as these are unfortunate but the world is a wild place and meddles with even the best laid plans. But these delays aren’t happening in a vacuum.

Does anybody remember the inflated prices of cards like Doctor Doom, Unrivaled, Loki, Lord of Misrule, or Swordsman's Steel? The former two were going for $80 or higher, and the Steel for $30. Those are very much inflated pre-release prices, the numbers hype gets you and drops almost as soon as players actually get the cards. But these held those prices for a few weeks because of delays to Marvel Super Heroes products, namely the bundles, MSH Commander precons, and Jumpstart Boosters.

Secrets of Strixhaven was also affected by delays, though more moderately than these other sets: Bundles (excluding the Codex Bundle) were delayed until the release weekend rather than prerelease weekend. The Hobbit snuck through without any announced product delays, so Wizard’s is one for four of the past four sets. One for five, if you want to include the Beginner Box from Star Trek, a product entirely canceled “due to delays in production, logistics, and shipping.”

Any one of these could be forgiven as unfortunate circumstances outside of Wizard’s control. But cumulatively, they form a pattern of behavior. For one reason or another, Wizards can’t seem to keep on top of their distribution, which has serious implications going forward. If players can’t trust that Wizards gets their products to their local game store, why would would players order them at all? This might be an issue unique to 2026 with its tight release schedule and seven sets, but it’s something to keep in mind going forward.
