Leaks happen. It's a fact of life. You can't have a card game as massively popular as Magic: The Gathering without a few things slipping between the cracks. Recently, it feels like these cracks have been widening. Over the weekend, some players who were expectantly awaiting the delivery of their Dandân Secret Lair decks received something else instead.

An entirely different deck. A follow-up post revealed some of the contents of the box, showing all the alternate art cards, as well as a Moxfield link for the supposed full deck list.

Goblin Storm Coming Soon?

But Goblin Storm was not something that just came out of the blue. There were previous leaks posted on Reddit and elsewhere about a month ago that featured some of these cards, such as this one of the face commander, Zada, Hedron Grinder:

The leaks seem to match, and this wouldn't be the first time that Wizards of the Coast has leaked their own product by sending it out early–the Ninja Turtles sneaking their way into Lorwyn Eclipsed Prereleases is something that is still painfully fresh in the mind of many players–so there is no reason to believe that these leaks are not legit.

As for the decklist that has accompanied these more recent leaks, if it is to be believed, then it would mean a handful of expensive reprints that would make this Secret Lair worth buying once officially released. Some standouts include: Roaming Throne, Throne of Eldraine, Goblin Lackey, Arena of Glory.

Is This Some Kind of Hoax?

Excitement for the goblins deck aside, it's doubtful that Wizards of the Coast is happy about this product being leaked in this way. Alongside other recent product mix-ups, it demonstrates a pattern. Is this going to be something that happens every time there is a big release of an anticipated Secret Lair? The blistering pace of product releases that has become the new norm may be a contributing factor, and while it may seem innocuous enough at the moment, it certainly has been a factor in eroding some trust that players have had in Wizards of the Coast to make consistent products. But only time will tell. So in the meantime, be on the lookout for the Goblin Storm Secret Lair, as it's certain to sell out quickly.
