Cloud from FFVII: Rebirth
A pretty big screw-up by Wizards of the Coast has launched the Final Fantasy x MTG crossover spoiler season much sooner than expected, with Reddit leaking what seems to be the full list from FIN's two Starter Decks.
This happens after FIN product was distributed by mistake last week in Brazil. According to CardsRealm, an unnamed Brazillian distributor delivered an urgent message asking the FIN products, that had been distributed erroneously, to be returned unopened.
โWe have identified that Wizards of the Coast has been sending Final Fantasy kits in error,โ read a copy of the distributor's statement, as reported by CardsRealm. โDue to Commercial Policy, we require that whoever received the item return it to [distributor]. We will bear the costs of this return. If you received a Final Fantasy pre-release kit, please contact your consultant so we can make arrangements.โ
The statement stressed that the material should be returned undamaged โto avoid penalties from Wizards of The Coast.โ
Now the two FIN starter decks have been leaked in full on Reddit, although it's not 100% clear if it's the same leak. The cards posted on Reddit are in Spanish, leading to some comments to suggest they were leaked in Chile rather than Brazil.
(Since last year, WotC has stopped printing cards in Portuguese, so Brazil gets cards in English).
SPOILER WARNING: If you'd rather only learn about Final Fantasy from official reveals, you may want to stop reading the rest of this article!
A Brand New Land Type

Source: Reddit
As you may imagine from a Starter Deck, the lands are nothing too special as far as MTG mechanics go; in fact, most of them are just basic lands.
But there's one notable exception: FIN will introduce a new type of land, โCiudadโ (Spanish for โCityโ). None of the other cards reference this new land type, though, so we don't know yet how it will impact the set as a whole.

Another cool detail is that, according to their collector numbers, all lands seem from a different FF game.
The Starter Decks also feature Sephiroth, Planet's Heir (in the Dimir deck) and Cloud, Planet's Champion (in the Boros deck). Both cards had already been officially revealed.

Like the lands, most of these Magic cards are fairly weak, as is to be expected from Starter Decks.
The FIN starter deck features characters like Xande, Seymour Beta (likely Seymour Flux), and โArtemisaโ (which is probably Ultimecia in English). The rares with collector number 500+ indicate they are exclusive to the starter deck, while the rest should be found in the main Final Fantasy set.

The most impactful card is probably โExterminioโ, which would translate literally to โExterminationโ but probably references to Overkill, the mechanic from Final Fantasy X, .โ โExterminioโ is a black instant removal spell with an interesting twist: setting a creature's health to -9999 plays around indestructible.

Similarly to the Dimir Starter deck, most cards are pretty tameโฆ
The โElegir un trabajoโ mechanic (โChoose a jobโ) is very similar to the For Mirrodin! and living weapon mechanic: on ETB, the equipment creates a 1/1 token and then auto-attaches itself to said token. On the leaked card with this mechanic, the equipment also grants an extra creature type, like Samurai or Knight.
And the card that has created the most hype thus far: Suplex, in direct reference to Sabine suplexing the Ghost Train!!

Among famous characters, we have Beatrix, Lightning, Adelbert Steiner, G'raha Tia, Barret Wallaceโฆ and Moogles!
These are all the leaked Magic cards from the Final Fantasy Universes Beyond crossoverโฆ for now at least. Don't be surprised it we get another big batch later today, or later this week!
