Summon: Choco/Mog– art by Yoshiya
Just a few days ago, a post made it into the popular reddit thread r/MTGrumors. It detailed an LGS owner who had received a mysterious promo material from Wizards.
New Final Fantasy x MTG Products on the Horizon
The enclosed promo material, a poster depicting several chocobo gallivanting around a field at sunset, was accompanied by a message: “Stay tuned to Magic Con Atlanta for a special announcement.” The chocobo is an eternal symbol a video game that just had a Universes Beyond set…and it also was the best-selling Magic: The Gathering set of all time…
Well, folks, Magic Con Atlanta does, in fact, start today. However, it appears that the news slipped out before things start off. We're definitely getting new Final Fantasy products for the holiday season, and the lineup is pretty exciting.
The Chocobo Bundle

It's the poster!! On the bundle!!! We're used to seeing these bundles basically any time a new set comes out. They usually include boosters from the set, a spindown, a life counter, and an array of punch out keyword counters.

The above image alleges to reveal the contents of the bundle. Notably, it appears it will not include collector boosters. This is a bit disappointing, as the chocobo that adorn the packaging do appear to be the Neon Ink chocobo. These are incredibly difficult to pull, and are currently going for about $2,000 apiece on TCGplayer. However, they've only been findable in collector boosters…odd call here. Maybe this'll be a new chance to open some major rarity outside of collector products.
The Scene Boxes

We've got FOUR scene boxes coming. Scene boxes usually contain mechanically unique cards with alternate art treatments that come together to form an iconic vignette. It seems that this may be the norm for UB sets, Lord of the Rings also got the same “four scene boxes” treatment.
We don't quite know what will be included in these boxes, but we do know that we'll be getting new art cards in the boxes. WotC made the decision to remove art cards from play boosters and include them in collector boosters, and some of those FIN art cards are actually worth some cheddar, so it seems like collectability on these could be pretty good.
When Will They Drop?
We do know that this is going to be a holiday season drop, so it's likely they'll be here by December. Full details will be dropping sometime this weekend, so keep your eyes peeled for the official MagicCon announcement.
