In a move that's hit the MTG community like a freight train, WotC has announced a surprise final set for 2025, and it's unlike anything we've seen in the past.
We've seen full reprint sets before, with Innistrad Remastered being the most recent. Commander Masters featured reprints of beloved cards from MTG's most popular format.
Today, WotC revealed that we'll be getting a full set that literally only consists of one card. It's one that's arguably never needed a reprint more than it does now.
Preorders just went up for Command Tower Horizons, and players are going berserk for it.
Wait, What's Command Tower?

Some say it's the best land in the game. We reached out to LGS owner Rick Tankowicz for a few remarks:
โWhen I first saw the card, I immediately thought to myself โseems good.โ When they first printed Command Tower, I ripped up all of my Volcanic Islands and threw them in the trash. Been a Command Tower guy ever since.โ
MTG devotees across the world are crying out for joy. Command Tower has only been printed a measly 101 times in the past 10 years. That's barely 10 Command Towers a year.
This extremely powerful land was also just announced as the promo for the forthcoming Strixhaven YA novel, and was also revealed to be a promo for Turbo Tower, a WPN exclusive play event. It is statistically likely that there are well over 500 million individual Command Towers out there, and the community of Command Tower lovers is only growing larger and larger.
Are There Too Many Command Towers?

Absolutely not. While Command Tower is included in literally every single preconstructed deck WotC prints, and will continue to be for the rest of time, there's one key thing to remember: Command Tower is the only evidence we have of true beauty in this world.
Magic aficionado Wario McSweeney had this to say:
โIt's like Sol Ring, except it's a land, costs only 0 mana, and produces one mana in your commander's color identity instead of โ
Truer words were never spoken, Wario. What better way to celebrate New Year's Eve than with a full 250 card set that is exclusively made up of Command Tower reprints featuring the timeless art of Evan Shipard.
What Can I Open in Command Tower Horizons?

The set follows standard rarity conventions. Here's a breakdown:
Slots 1-6: One of seven common Command Towers
Slot 7: A Command Tower at common.
Slot 8-10: A Command Tower or a Command Tower at uncommon
Slot 11: A Command Tower at rare
Slot 12: A land (which, in this set, is Command Tower)
Slot 13-14: A nonfoil Command Tower
Slot 15: A beautiful, base print Command Tower
Slot 15 also has a microscopic chance to be occupied by a nonfoil, un-serialized Command Tower.
Wrap Up

In a certain sense, Command Tower is to MTG as water is to human beings. You can only live without either for a day or two at most. Whether you're playing a casual game of Commander, or draining your savings account to travel hundreds of miles to try and win a cEDH tournament, every MTG player dreams of getting a new Command Tower.
With Command Tower Horizons on the horizon, those dreams will soon become real.

This is excellent news! Command Tower is my favorite Magic the Gatheringโข card! I’ll never forget when I managed to copy my Command Tower with Vesuva and had two of them out at once, my opponent ruined my day when he crashed his Weatherlight into them.
Wow, hope you drew another one!
