Edge of Eternities has brought tons of new mechanics and abilities to Magic. And with new abilities comes tons of new interactions, but one incredibly simple Commanderโ€˜s full potential is only just now being realized: and it's causing some real excitement among players (and their wallets!).

Ragost, Deft Gastronaut

Ragost, Deft Gastronaut is the only card in all of EOE to have โ€œfoodโ€ on the oracle text. In short, it turns all of your trinkets into food and you food can be used to damage enemies.

There's only one problem: Boros isn't exactly the best at going wide with artifacts (or food for that matter). It's far from the worst, but it's at disadvantage compared to green. Don't worry, though. Players and finance speculators have found some great ways of getting it online.

Astrid Peth

Astrid Peth, from the Doctor Who set a while back, has finally gotten its chance to shine in the spotlight. Astrid is a cheap, efficient food generator that also provides real card advantage whenever your foods are consumed. Just having this card in play while you're serving up sadness with Ragost is enough to start running ahead of the curve.

And that's been realized in the market: Astrid has experienced an 1200% price bump since EOE released. What was once a bulk rare worth less than $0.50 is now a $6 card! 82% of the market supply has been bought in the last week, and with EOE still fresh on everyone's mind (sets just don't last as long as they used to), it still has room to grow.

Apothecary White

Our other foodie and investment opportunity is Apothecary White, another white Legendary creature that's all about food, this time from Ravnica: Clue Edition. This time, you create a food every time you attack a player, and you channel untapped foods into 1/1 white human creatures.

Not only does this cook up tons of new food, but it heavily lines up with the Boros theme we're going for. Remember, this food deck is red and white! Generating tons of 1/1s is already good in Boros. Just imagine a full board of soldiers and food combined with a Hobbit's Sting: You can easily picture that going for a full 40 damage.

Apothecary White isn't the cheap pickup it used to be either. It's floating around $7.70 now, which isn't bad in it's own right, but it's far away from the $1.50 price tag of last month and the price doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Still on the Table

Some may say that the majority of gains on Astrid Peth or Apothecary White are behind us, and they may be right. But just because those headliners have found their spots in foodie EDH doesn't mean every food staple has. Here are a few cards to keep your eyes on.

Dan Lewis

Things can also get weird with Dan Lewis. If you manage to generate enough mana, you could turn your food supply into a ton of hats for your soldiers and really go ham.

Depthshaker Titan

Depthshaker Titan is a much better card at converting your food into an army. It's not out of the question to think that this could generate 30/30 worth of stats before turn 10, and with the additional buffs, you could very well one-shot an opponent with food.
