Reality Fracture, Magic’s latest set, keeps rocking the MTG card market. And it’s not just casual Commander: this week, one FRA card has pushed into the spotlight thanks to great results in Modern.

But this week there’s also an 18-year-old Faerie winning cEDH tournaments, while Jace, Multiverse Architect keeps spiking Polymorph effects.

Let’s check this week’s biggest movers!

Dark Matter Manipulator

Dark Matter Manipulator

Dark Matter Manipulator is one of Reality Fracture‘s first competitive breakouts in 60-card formats.

After flying under the radar for a couple of weeks (the card was still trading around $1.50 last Friday), the regular printing has shot up by 500% and is currently trading at about $7.50… and unlike plenty of the Reality Fracture spikes we’ve covered lately, this one has very little to do with Commander.

Dark Matter Manipulator is becoming a staple in Modern Rakdos Delirium decks. Recent successful lists are consistently running a full playset, including several MTGO Challenge finishes this week. Aggressive Rakdos decks are about 10% of the Modern metagame in the last couple of weeks, and Dark Matter Manipulator has certainly made an entrance there..

And there’s even some secondary demand from Legacy, where a full playset of Dark Matter Manipulator is beginning to show up in Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis decks.

Knacksaw Clique

Now we move from top-tier play in Modern to cEDH… although this is the rare spike that has nothing to do with Reality Fracture. Hailing from the original Shadowmoor, Knacksaw Clique (a card that is old enough to vote!) has roughly tripled in market price over the last week, climbing from around $4 to trading at over $12 today. And current near-mint listings are even pricier!

The reason seems to be cEDH, and specifically Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy decks. Recent Kinnan decks featuring Knacksaw Clique have been putting up an impressive string of results, with some Magic players on Reddit considering this blue creature should be auto-include in Kinnan decks.

Supply is doing a lot of work here, too. Or, well, lack of supply: Knacksaw Clique was printed once, in 2008’s Shadowmoor, and never reprinted (not even in bonus sheets or the List).

Divergent Transformations & Polymorph

Divergent Transformations

Jace, Multiverse Architect is currently the most popular commander on EDHREC over the last month, with around 11,600 new decks (almost twice as many as the next most popular commander!), and he’s also already cracked EDHREC’s Top 200 commanders overall despite existing for only a few weeks.

And just like a rising tide lifts all boats, it looks like all what a Jace deck wants goes up in price!

Divergent Transformations is one of the latest examples. It was already a solid Commander card, strong enough to see some cEDH play, but until last week its price was near bulk-bin territory. Yet now the Commander Masters printing has since climbed north of $4, with some current near-mint listings going even higher, and other versions seeing a similar spike.

And good ol’ Polymorph is going up too, for the same reason.

Polymorph

Polymorph‘s not too popular a card in Commander in general, but as of late it’s seeing play with the new (and extremely popular) Jace:

These cards make pretty good sense with Jace, Multiverse Architect, who’s basically a Polymorph commander cosplaying as a planeswalker.

Jace’s -3 ability exiles another creature or planeswalker you control, then reveals cards from your library until you hit a creature or planeswalker and puts it straight onto the battlefield, therefore encouraging you to play with other effects that are happy to dig for huge creatures like Archon of Cruelty or Serra's Emissary and cheat them into play.
