Commodore Guff | Illustration by Matt Stewart
Reality Fracture officially releases today, but the newest MTG set has been rocking the Magic card market for weeks already.
As we reported last week, sphinxes and planeswalkers were among the biggest movers. This week, the superfriends crowd seems to have pulled way ahead, with several planeswalker staples going sky-high. But sphinxes aren't quite done, though!
Let's check this week's biggest movers.
Oath of Teferi
Oath of Teferi is a pretty popular Commander card, and it's borderline mandatory with planeswalker commander Commodore Guff: More than 90% of Guff's decks include a copy of Oath of Teferi.
And this legendary enchantment is strong enough to make the cut into cEDH, usually in Sisay, Weatherlight Captain decks.
But FRA has brought a lot of fresh demand: The Commander Masters printing jumped from about $1 last week to well over $4 today, and with the original Dominaria version saw a similar jump.

The main culprit? Tam, the Possibility, one of the most popular commanders from Reality Fracture.
Tam, the Possibility isn't a planeswalker herself, but is clearly built as a superfriends commander: Your planeswalker spells cost less, and her activated ability proliferates once for every different planeswalker type among planeswalkers you control.
And Oath of Teferiโs synergy is as straightforward as it gets: It lets every planeswalker you control activate its loyalty abilities twice each turn.
But it turns out that Tam, the Possibilityโs not the only suspect here. And the new demand goes beyond Tam: the Oath is also in more than 40% of Jace, Multiverse Architect decks, and it's even getting demand thanks to a different product: Mystery Booster Commander Edition.
Roughly a half of Arzakon decks, and three out of four of Feroz, Ulgrotha's Warden decks, include a copy of the Oath.
Commodore Guff
And speaking of Commodore Guff, things have gotten downright silly here.
Guff was already one of Magic's best planeswalker commanders. But, with FRA, players seem to prefer the Commodore as part of the crew, rather than putting him in charge: About 70% of current Tam, the Possibility decks include him, and he's also appearing in roughly 40% of Arzakon lists.
And Guff's supply side picture is pretty interesting: Guff has only one playable paper printing. The Commander-legal Commodore Guff was printed exactly once, as the traditional-foil face commander of 2023's Planeswalker Party Commander precon. There's a second Guff version, but it's printed in thick cardboard and is not Commander-legal.
The combination of existing popularity, new demand, and really thin stocks have pushed the price from roughly $1-2 card to above $20.

It's hard to guess whether this price will remain so high (if I had to guess, I'd say it'll come down once the hype wears off), so make sure to do your own research if you're thinking about buying or selling Guff these days. And remember the thick version is not playable in Commander!
Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God
Unsurprisingly when there's such a hot market for planeswalker cards, Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God is also flying sky-high. The original War of the Spark version was around $5 or so last week, and It's now trading roughly in the $14-$16 range, roughly tripling since last Friday.

No surprises here: Nearly 70% of Tam, the Possibility decks currently run Bolas. But the Dragon-God is also often included in Jace, Multiverse Architectโs decks: Bolas is the sort of big hit that Jace is interested in finding.
Azor, the Lawbringer
Planeswalkers may have stolen the spotlight this week, but Sphinx Season isn't over yet!
Azor, the Lawbringer has gone from trading at roughly $1-$2, to around $5-$6 today.

If you've been following the Magic card market in the last couple of weeks, you know who's behind this: The Ur-Sphinx.
In the couple of days after The Ur-Sphinx was revealed, nearly 100 near-mint copies of Azor were sold on TCGplayer, compared with only about ten copies in the two weeks before the reveal. Currently Azor, the Lawbringer is in more than half of The Ur-Sphinx decks.
And supply is doing plenty of work here: Azor has never received a real reprint since Rivals of Ixalan in 2018. There is a prerelease foil treatment, but the RIX original remains the only regular printing.
With Reality Fracture finally releasing on tabletop today, we're about to find out whether Sphinx Season has another week in it.
