Two of this week’s biggest movers in the Magic card market are cards that MTG players may have underestimated at first glance… looks like Marvel Super Heroes, the latest Universes Beyond crossover, may have a couple of sleeper hits!
Let’s take a look at this week’s biggest price spikes.
Hex Magic
Hex Magic seems to have flown under most players’ radar at first, even though several MTG content creators highlighted it as one of the best red cards in Marvel Super Heroes.
That may be changing now.
The card has already become fairly popular in casual Commander, where red decks are always hungry for more ways to see extra cards. But besides becoming fairly popular in casual Commander, Hex Magic‘s also making inroads in competitive formats, with Ruby Storm decks in Modern maindecking several copies, and a couple of Ral, Monsoon Mage cEDH decks putting up good results with Hex Magic in the list.
As a result, this red sorcery has moved from bulk-bin prices to about $2 right now.

Players on the MTG finance subreddit have also started paying attention. In a thread titled “Spec: Hex Magic”, u/jeriku argued that Hex Magic has a higher ceiling than traditional red impulse draw effects. The key here is that Hex Magic says “play”, not “cast”, which means you can play lands exiled with it.
The Ten Rings
Like Hex Magic, The Ten Rings is another MSH card that has seen a strong rebound since the set's release, roughly doubled in price since last week, from a bit above $12 seven days ago to almost $24 today (and more than tripling what it was trading for two weeks ago).

As Andy reported yesterday: “This is a big, flashy draw spell that goes into any deck,” being a good fit for a colorless commander like Zhulodok, Void Gorger, an artifact commander like Iron Man, Titan of Innovation, or a cheat effect commander like Kona, Rescue Beastie. In all of those decks, The Ten Rings gives players a huge refill engine while also raising your maximum hand size.
And very much like Hex Magic, The Ten Rings is showing competitive teeth: It has been quickly adopted by UrzaTron decks in Modern, while also showing up in a few cEDH top cuts.
Shabraz, the Skyshark
Shabraz, the Skyshark‘s market price has seen a bit of a rebound, from about $3.50 to over $4.
Listed prices have skyrocketed though (more than doubling, with the majority of current TCGplayer listings over $8 at the time of writing).

The gap between listed and average prices is a bit of a yellow flag, though (which can even suggest a bit of market manipulation, with speculators buying most of the copies and relisting them higher).
Shabraz, the Skyshark is indeed being included in King T'Challa Commander decks, but overall numbers are modest and don't really support such a huge price increase.
