Faithless Looting (Secret Lair) | Illustration by Dave Trampier
Prices for the Magic cards that WotC unbanned last Monday are going through the roof, with some versions of Faithless Looting going straight-up sky-high.
In particular, the Faithless Looting Retro Frame version from Commander: The Brothers' War went up by a mind-boggling 2,450% yesterday, according to MTGStocks.

The massive increase in demand is clearly seen in TCGplayer data. The Faithless Looting's Retro Frame version sold 132 copies yesterday, when it previously traded over 100 in a month.

The spike is receding a bit, but supply is limited. If a few copies sell, the price will double up to the $16 mark.

Something similar happens with Faithless Looting's Secret Lair version, released earlier this year: It sold more than a 100 copies in a single day, when it normally trades half that much in a whole month.

Like the Retro Frame version, the Secret Lair version seems to have found a plateau at around $10-$12.

Why Is Faithless Looting Spiking?
One reason for Faithless Lootingโs spike is raw power: there's no shortage of Modern players that see Faithless Looting as Modern's Brainstorm, and go as far as to consider it the best card in the format.
But the main reason in this case is the bling factor.
As mentioned in our article covering the unbanned cards' price spike, Faithless Looting is a common card that has been reprinted non-stop. Only the premium Secret Lair alternate art and Brothers' War retro frame are currently spiking โ the vast majority of regular versions are still cheap.
Don't Lose Faith!
If you want to get a cheap playset of this red instant โ and if you plan to play a red-leaning deck in Modern, you probably do! โ then fret not! Most regular versions, like for example Faithless Looting's Commander: The Lost Caverns of Ixalan version, cost about $1 for a full playset.
And the price has kept stable even when a whopping 281 copies were sold yesterday: the price barely moved a few cents.

Be sure to check your bulk, though. If you happen to have some of Faithless Lootingโs premium versions lying around, you may be a bunch of dollars richer!
