Modern and Premodern are doing a lot of the heavy lifting this week on the Magic card market. On the Modern side, RCQ season is pushing staples upward. And Premodern keeps being a one-trick pony, but with still a lot of kick: not a week goes by without some competitive cards in Premodern being among the biggest spikes, but only for their original printing.
Here are the biggest movers that stood out this week.
Claws of Gix
Claws of Gix‘s spike this week is likely due to its popularity in the post-TMNT modern Affinity deck, with top-tier Affinity decks usually packing 2-4 copies.
This artifact had already seen a price spike back in November, but just went higher: copies traded this week went up from about $9 to over $13 since last Friday…

… and, at the time of writing, cheapest near-mint copies are listed at about $20-$25 in the US market: more than twice of what they cost last week.
“RCQs are currently modern,” notes u/Heavenwasfull in the mtgfinance subreddit, highlighting Claws of Gix‘s spike, “and affinity is one of the very affordable decks for people with playsets of mox opal so it’s expected this price increase.”
And speaking of Mox Opal
Mox Opal
Unbanned in Modern by the end of 2024, Mox Opal quickly took over as the most expensive card in the format by a massive margin.

And it looks like it's in no hurry to cede the #1 spot: The cheapest current printing went up from about $180 to around $200 in the last couple of weeks…

… and the trend shows no sign of stopping: at the time of writing, the cheapest listing for a near-mint copy is around $220-$230 in the US market.
“Having access to both Mox Opal and Mox Amber in the same Modern meta improves the consistency, resiliency, and speed of Grinding Breach game plans,” wrote MTGStocks' Corey Williams back in February, analyzing Modern's metagame after the unbans, and month laters went as far as to call it “arguably the most impactful unban in Modern in the past half-decade.”
The Modern RCQ season starts tomorrow (and with some really cool promo cards, to boot!).
Glory
Modern may be trying to steal the spotlight this week, but Premodern still has plenty of moves. Glory‘s Judgment original is one of the biggest movers thanks to GW Tireless Tribe decks in Premodern. When looking at traded copies, prices have roughly doubled during last month, and roughly quadrupled if you compare with two months ago:

And, currently, the Judgment printing's cheapest copies go for north of $10 at the time of writing. This spike has the usual Premodern wrinkle, though: It's only for the original printing. The Dominaria Remastered reprint is worth just about 25 cents, and that's even when Premodern allows all tournament legal pre- and reprints from the legal sets. But by now it is crystal clear that Premodern players are here for the vintage feel!
Spiritual Focus & Gaea's Blessing
Spiritual Focus may be about to show a similar dynamic to Glory. This white enchantment is a staple in Landstill decks and Enchantress decks in Premodern. The market price hasn't gone up much as of late…

… but, at the time of writing, the cheapest near-mint copies listed at around $6 in the US market at the time of writing.
And something similar seems to be happening with Gaea's Blessing: It's been reprinted far and wide, and when looking at market prices last week it has only gone up slightly…

… and the Dominaria or the Eternal Masters reprints cost just a few cents (and there's a gazillion copies listed).
But!
If you want a near-mint copy of the original Weatherlight printing, at the time of writing the cheapest listings sit at about $12, with just a handful of units in stock.
