We all knew that the release of Marvel Super Heroes would bring along with it some format shaping cards and strategies. New sets always have some kind of impact, especially ones as strong as this one. So it's no surprise that there's already a new combo making waves in Standard using two powerful legendary creatures from Marvel Super Heroes, and it just might break the format.

Infinite Squirrels

This combo requires three cards and it will give you infinite 1/1 squirrel tokens, which is certainly one of the best ways to win a game of Magic. Once you have Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, and Enduring Vitality the combo goes as follows:

Tap Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu for two green mana. Use Enduring Vitality‘s ability to tap it, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, and the squirrel token that she made when she entered for mana. You now have five mana. Use it to activate The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl‘s ability. This will create two squirrels. You can immediately tap those squirrels for mana thanks to Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu giving them pseudo-haste and Enduring Vitality granting them the ability to tap for mana. You will now have three mana. To do the combo, you will need to get one additional mana from somewhere else, a forest most likely to make it four. Activate the ability of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl to create four squirrel tokens.

From here, this goes infinite. Each time you activate the ability, you are doubling the number of 1/1 squirrel tokens you have, and these tokens can tap for infinite mana. You can use this mana to cast a Craterhoof Behemoth or Nature's Rhythm to go and find the aforementioned card to instantly win the game. If you don't have access to either of these cards, you'll probably still win, as you can just attack next turn with an indeterminately large number of squirrels.

Supporting The Combo

Now, while this combo is good and all, a combo that needs three different cards and a fair bit of mana to get started isn't exactly the most consistent thing to pull off. Thankfully, there are some tools you can use to help facilitate it.

Badgermole Cub is an incredibly good card, and it's no different in this deck. Its ability to give you an extra mana when tapping your creatures for mana is extremely relevant, as this essentially doubles the mana you get from Enduring Vitality, which can let the combo come down sooner and therefore increase your odds of winning.

Thornvault Forager is another interesting inclusion, as notably it's a squirrel and it can search your library for a squirrel. If you already have The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in play and you have this in play, activating her ability will make an extra squirrel token, which can be the difference between winning this turn and having to wait a turn, and a lot can go wrong in one turn. Being able to search your library for a squirrel is also obviously amazing when your key combo piece is a squirrel, as it makes your deck just that much more consistent.

For a similar reason, Nature's Rhythm is also a great card in this kind of deck, as you can dump your mana into it to get whichever piece of the puzzle that you need at a given moment.

Unbeatable?

This combo certainly has the ability to be viable in Standard. The pieces are there for a consistent enough deck, but it's not without weaknesses. Good removal from your opponent at key moments can stop your combo, but even then the deck can still win through just playing creatures and attacking with them the old fashioned way. Only time will tell whether The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and her army of squirrels are truly unbeatable.
