If youโve been mulling over buying a Foundations Play Booster box, now may be the time!
After pushing up toward roughly $190 by late February, Foundations Play Booster boxes have now fallen down to around around $120 on TCGplayer, while MTGStocks shows the product at about $130 in US markets.
Why Are Foundations Play Booster Boxes Going Down in Price?

Foundations is unlike any other MTG set currently in print: It's a Standard-legal set, but instead of rotating every three years, Magic: The Gathering Foundations will remain in Standard until at least 2029. And the โat leastโ part comes literally from WotC; they could extend its legality further, if they think that makes sense.
Which means that, from time to time, WotC needs to reprint the setโฆ and that seems to be exactly what's going on right now, with prices cratering since the end of February.

WotC has not officially announced a reprint, but it seems pretty clear when looking at price versus demand in the last 30 days. According to TCGPlayer, there's been a huge spike in traded items, which coincides exactly with the price dropping:

And, notably, this huge price drop is only happening with Foundations (as opposed to prices dropping across other Standard-legal sets), and only with Foundations Play Boosters; Collector Boosters are a completely different beast.
When Will Be the Next Foundations Reprint?

As noted above, there's no official confirmation from WotC about their reprint plans; back when Foundations launched, they just made a promise that FDN would be generally available.
โWhile I can't promise complete availability through this period, products such as Play Boosters, Beginner Box, Starter Collection, and Jumpstart Boosters will be eligible for reprints,โ said Wizards Play Network Community Manager, Nelson Brown, in an interview with Magic Untapped back in September 2024. โParticularly for the Play and Jumpstart Boosters, you can expect these to be made available somewhat continuously during its tenure.โ
In other words: This price drop is not due to some special offer, but rather WotC just releasing a lot more inventory.
But, on the other hand, in a sense it is a sort of โUntil Supplies Lastโ scenario: We have no clue when WotC will reprint this set again, and prices may go back up once supply dries again. So if you've been considering buying a Foundations Play Booster Box or two (Foundations is hands-down the very best Magic set if you want to learn how to draft!), the best time may be right now.
