Magic players have gotten used to other IPs finding their way into the game recently with the number of Universes Beyond sets slated to release outnumbering Magic's own IP sets in 2026, so it's about time Magic found its way into something else. For the unacquainted, Destiny 2 is the second installment in the wildly popular online sci-fi shooter developed by Bungie, the creators of Halo, among other titles.
It released back in 2017 to wide acclaim and quickly earning itself a dedicated fan base. It's no mystery why a popular IP like Destiny would make a cameo appearance in a popular franchise like Magic.
An Official Announcement

The official Magic: The Gathering page on X posted this image in response to the Destiny 2 x MTG announcement post. The phrase that the cropped names of the first three cards write out is a reference to an iconic quote from the Destiny franchise: โEyes up, Guardianโ.
Imprisoned in the Moon is also in the announcement, which is a curious inclusion. Perhaps it's a card that reflects the sci-fi nature of the game, but that seems too vague to include for that reason alone considering how specific to the game the rest areโฆUnless, of course, it was going to be printed in the Destiny 2 themed Secret Lair. Then it would make perfect sense, and this is what many players have speculated to be the case.

Additionally, this is exactly the kind of IP that Wizards of the Coast has done Universes Beyond Secret Lair crossovers with in the recent past, i.e. the Playstation Secret Lair drops, where we saw not only reprints, but mechanically unique cards from franchises such as The Last of Us, God of War, Uncharted, Horizon, and Ghost of Tsushima. And this is not to mention the Fallout commander decks. All of these were very popular and in high demand, certainly due to the popularity of these games, but also no doubt because of the fact that many cards in these products were mechanically unique. Reprints are nice, but it's always so special when a Secret Lair product has a card that has never been seen before. It's also often a nice investment, as a popular commander card being printed only in a Secret Lair means it will likely have a hefty price tag, as has been the case in the past with such releases.

But this is all speculation: It may be the case that it may be a Secret Lair with mechanically unique cards, it may all be reprintsโฆUntil then? Eyes up, guardian.
