The Master, Multiplied | Illustration by Lie Setiawan
Secret Lair: Deadpool was an April Fool's joke that was no joke, as it's been a massive hit with the MTG community so far! There were reports of jammed lines and hour long waits in the queue to buy it online, showing that many players could not resist the โmerc with the mouth.โ Players' wallets weren't the only thing affected by Deadpool, Trading Card though, as it also seems to have caused a fringe Doctor Who card to have a massive price spike!
The Master, Multiplied
The card that spiked is The Master, Multiplied, which was eyed by investors for its powerful interaction with Deadpool. Their synergy comes down to how Deadpool, Trading Card interacts when copied as a token, as token copies of Deadpool will enter with its original text, not what you copied. Thus with some kind of Mirror Gallery effect like The Master, Multiplied, things can get ridiculous very quickly!
But that's not all; due to the โtriggered abilities you control can't cause you to sacrifice or exile creature tokensโ clause, you can permanently keep Deadpools you create from shimmer effects! Get your Twinflames, Flameshadow Conjurings, and Heat Shimmer ready, and give Deadpool, Trading Card the multiverse episode that you know he'd hate!
The Price Spike

Just look at that beautiful curve above! There was virtually no interest in The Master, Multiplied before Deadpool, and now copies are going for over 2000% of their previous price. While it's not clear if this jump will continue (as Deadpool, Trading Card won't be the โhot new thingโ forever), it's a good time to be an obscure Doctor Who rare.
There might also be run-off coming from Tarkir: Dragonstorm as well, with the new Zurgo, Thunder's Decree housing an extremely similar ability for warriors specifically. Could be that Zurgo hopefuls are also stocking up on The Master to double up on the anti-sacrifice ability. Whatever the case, it's very clear that The Master, at least this version, has indeed multiplied.
