If youโve been following the price of Avatar's Commanderโs Bundle, youโve seen some pretty wild bending. From (stupidly high) presale prices blowing past $280โ300 back in August, to much more sensible prices (around $150) by October's endโฆ
โฆ then a Hallowing jump scare with the price tag jumping back to roughly $200 in a single day, fluctuating a lot since then, and as of late sitting at around $185.
What's going on, and when might things settle?
The August Bubble: Paying $280 for a $110 Product

Wizardsโ own โCollecting Avatarโ article lists the suggested retail price at $109.99. That's what's also shown in WotC's WPN page, and what you'll pay for if you're lucky enough to find Avatar's Commander Bundle on Amazon:

That didn't stop resellers from inflating the price nearly threefold at the start of the pre-sale period, listing the Bundle for around $300.
โNotably, [the Commander Bundle] is roughly $100 in booster packs alone, which seems justified given the MSRP of $110,โ wrote Tim when reporting on the August price spike (the $100 came from tallying 9 Play Boosters at $6.99, plus 1 Collector at $37.99). โHowever,โ Tim notes, โthe math ain't mathing when you start looking at the $200-300 range these are being posted for online,โ and making it very clear that there's no way this product's worth more than $150 on the high end.
As it turns out, Tim's prediction was 100% on the money: The Commander's Bundle price dropped noticeably during September, and then went into downright freefall as Spider-Man turned out to be quite a disappointment.
By the end of October, the Bundle's price was exactly at the $150 Tim predictedโฆ

โฆ but then things changed, as Avatar's reveal season went into full swing.
The Dockside Craze
The move from ~$150 to ~$200 on November 4 lines up almost perfectly with two factors: the Dockside Extortionist mania we got two weeks ago, and the Bundle-exclusive Booster Fun treatments.
As seen in the price of Collector Booster displaysโฆ

โฆ Collector Boosters also had a huge spike in price (reverting a steep dive) by early November, thanks to the reveals of the Booster Fun treatments you can find in those boosters, and in particular thanks to rumors (that have thus far proven completely unfounded!) that Avatar's Dockside Extortionist reprint meant it would be unbanned from Commander.
Yet Collector Boosters kept plummeting after that brief spike, while the Commander's Bundle, with some fluctuations, have remained around $180-$190.
And that's probably thanks to the exclusive Booster Fun treatments that you can only find in the bundle.
As Alexis noted last week with our second deep-dive, an Avatar Commanderโs Bundle is worth your money up to about $140โ150 (pretty much in line with Tim's original estimate).
So What's The โFair Priceโ of Avatar's Commander's Bundle?

As noted, WotC's recommended price (and what you can pay on Amazon if you find the bundle) is $109.99. As Alexis and Tim note, you get that in value just for the Play and Collector Boosters.
$140โ150 looks like a reasonable reselling price, and what the market was willing to pay for it back in late October.
Current prices have rebounded to around $180-$190, which is around 70% higher than WotC's recommended retail price, and about 25% higher of what we'd call fair prices.
Anything above $200, thoughโฆ you may want to double-check if you're really like those Booster Fun treatments.
