Leaks! Leaks! Massive leaks, everywhere!! Run for theโฆ!!
โฆ Well, to be honest I'm not sure what you run to when you have leaks in a spaceship. On a normal ship it would be the lifeboats, so I guess in Edge of Eternities it's the escape pods?
SPOILER WARNING!! These are all unofficial leaks. The official reveals should start just a couple of hours after this article goes live, so proceed no further if you'd rather enjoy Edge of Eternities at its official pace.
Archenemyโs Charm
Source: Reddit
The cost ain't nothing, but the first mode is great, and the other two can be pretty useful in the correct spot:
โข Exile target creature or planeswalker.
โข Return one or two target creature and/or planeswalker cards from your graveyard to your hand.
โข Put two +1/+1 counters on target creature you control. It gains lifelink until end of turn.
A pretty solid black instant!
Beyond the Quiet
Source: Reddit
Exiling all creatures is better than destroying them, that's for sure. A board wipe for will very likely wreak many a draft, but I doubt it will have too much of an impact elsewhere. Mono-White control is one of the strongest Standard decks right now, and it has room for just a single copy of Sunfall, which is much better than Beyond the Quiet in most scenarios.
Sunset Saboteur
Source: Reddit
Sunset Saboteur is a Human Rogue with Menace, Ward (Discard a card), and very aggressive stats: 4/1.
It also has a pretty big drawback: โWhenever this creature attacks, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature an opponent controls.โ It can help station a lot of things, though.
Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar
Source: Reddit
Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplarโs first ability reads, โWhenever another creature you control dies or is put into exile, put a +1/+1 counter on Syr Vondam and you gain 1 life.โ That's a clear synergy with warp, since it doesn't matter how the creature was exiled.
It also has vigilance, menace, and a death trigger that reads, โWhen Syr Vondam dies or is put into exile while its power is 4 or greater, destroy up to one target nonland permanent.โ
Pain for All
Source: Reddit
Somebody in Commander will have a lot of fun with this Aura, but I doubt it sees play in 60-card formats.
Pain for All costs , and reads, โ When this Aura enters, enchanted creature deals damage equal to its power to any other target. Whenever enchanted creature is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to each opponent.โ
Xu-lfit, Osteoharmonist
Source: Reddit
Whoa! Reanimator, looped and on repeat!
Xu-lfit, Osteoharmonistโs activate ability returns a target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Having to tap makes it a tad slow and once-per-turn-y, but is affordable and the effect is amazing.
Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam
Source: Reddit
Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam is legendary artifact creature that costs and reads:
Trample
Dyadrine enters with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the amount of mana spent to cast it.
Whenever you attack, you may remove a +1/+1 counter from each of two creatures you control. If you do, draw a card and create a 2/2 colorless Robot artifact creature token.
Frenzied Baloth
Source: Reddit
How good is Frenzied Baloth? That's a lot of text (it's uncounterable, makes all your creatures uncounterable, and damage can't be prevented), but Pioneer players think it's kind of โMehโ, and it strikes me as the same in Standard or Draft.
Trample and haste are nice; the rest of the text is only relevant in very specific matches, so it looks like a sideboard tech rather than a main-deck staple.
Elegy Acolyte
Source: Reddit
Elegy Acolyte, stays on your board if you cast it for four mana ( in this case). The card-draw effect is slightly weak, but still playable.
And the Acolyte's void ability (โAt the beginning of your end step, if a nonland permanent left the battlefield this turn or a spell was warped this turn, create a 2/2 colorless Robot artifact creature token.โ) can snowball into a wide board if left unchecked.
Doesn't look to me like Elegy Acolyte will earn a main-deck spot in Standard decks, but I'm dying to try it as a sideboard card.
Zero Point Ballad
Source: Reddit
Looks like not only White will be playing the boardwipe game in Standard, once Edge of Eternities arrives!
Zero Point Ballad reads, โDestroy all creatures with toughness X or less. You lose X life. If X is 6 or more, return a creature card put into a graveyard this way to the battlefield under your control.โ
And reanimating (and often stealing!) the best creature when you cast Zero Point Ballad for is just awesome.
Chorale of the Void
Source: Reddit
Chorale of the Void is black aura that costs and reads:
Enchant creature you control. Whenever enchanted creature attacks, put target creature card from defending playerโs graveyard onto the battlefield under your control tapped and attacking.
Void โ At the beginning of your end step, sacrifice this Aura unless a nonland permanent left the battlefield this turn or a spell was warped this turn.
Famished Worldsire
Source: Reddit
In his EOE teaser, Magic Head Designer Mark Rosewater promised a โvariant on devour.โ We don't know if there will be more than one card with that variant (or with other variants, even), but here's a big green creature that fit's Rosewater's teaser: Famished Worldsire, Devourer of Lands.
It costs a whopping , making it a straight-to-Commander card, has Ward , and then comes the fun part:
- Devour land 3, which means: โAs this creature enters, you may sacrifice any number of lands. It enters with three times that many +1/+1 counters on it.โ
- When this creature enters, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is this creatureโs power. Put any number of land cards from among them onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle.
Rust Harvester
Source: Reddit
Red Deck Wins is running rampant again, even after the ban. Is Rust Harvester its next addition? It's a 1/1 for with menace, and that gets bigger when you exile an artifact card from your graveyard.
Are there enough artifacts worth playing and filling your graveyard with, to fuel this little robot?
Loading Zone
Source: Reddit
Loading Zone gives you the bottom half of Doubling Season, for one less mana and a lot more specific (Doubling Season works for counters on any type of permanent).
But is its warp cost of just that makes it intriguing; it's basically kicker (as most Magic mechanics tend to be!) that reads โStation your permanents twice as fast this turn.โ
Hard to gauge it without seeing all the station permanents in the set, but it may have potential.
Here Comes The Shipshow
Several big spacecraft were leaked yesterday. They are all big, flashy, and probably not too playable if you value splashy wins less than winning oftenโฆ
โฆ but, hey, wreaking havoc with a huge Battleship is a ton of fun, and exactly the kind of fun that Edge of Eternities is supposed to add to Magic, so here's the battlecruiser fleet leaked yesterday.
Extinguisher Battleship
Source: Reddit
Play Big Thing.
Big Thing makes Little Thingies go โKa-BOOM!!โ.
Station Big Thing to make Big Flampy Thingโฆ
โฆ Profit!!
Or, well, that's the plan with Extinguisher Battleship if your opponents are okay with you casting an
-mana a Spacecraft.
The Eternity Elevator
Source: Reddit
A big mana rockโฆ in Space! There seems to be a recurring โLet's make these numbers silly bigโ theme in some of the EOE leaks, with The Eternity Elevator showing that trend. Station for 20!?? To then tap for 20+ mana of any color?
Won't happen often, but when it does it will definitely be a colorful win!
Entropic Battlecruiser
Source: Reddit
Entropic Battlecruiser seems borderline playable: is a lot for anything without a nice ETB, but you can station this spacecraft with virtually any creature you have around, and 3/10 is a very respectable blocker.
You're really going for the discard plan here, so maybe there's a Brawl deck with Liliana of the Veil in the command zone that will find a use for this battlecruiser.
Sledge-Class Seedship
Source: Reddit
A great example for why players in general are a bit โMehโ about station: Sledge-Class Seedship has a good cost () for excellent stats (4/5); flying is a great keyword, and doubly so in green since it gets so little of it; and the attack trigger is awesome (โWhenever this Spacecraft attacks, you may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.โ).
Having to tap creatures worth 7 power, on the other hand, and at sorcery speedโฆ yeah, that's really not great.
Edge Of Eternities Commons and Uncommons Grab Bag
I found these leaked commons and uncommons just a few minutes before this article's deadline, and do you know what News Editors do when a writer fails a deadline?
(Hint: It involves pushing, airlocks, and the cold, dark void. But it doesn't involve spacesuits!)
So best I can do is a huge gallery of EOE Commons and uncommons, with no curation, transcription or commentary!
