The full contents of Magic’s upcoming Secret Lair Countdown Kit have been revealed. Good news for Marvel fans, bad news for Universes Beyond haters. You know how this works by now.
This 30-card release follows previous years’ Countdown Kits as a collection of reprints with new Secret Lair-style art treatments, and this is the first time we’re getting one of these based off another IP. Interestingly, this drop also includes two new cards from 2027’s Marvel: Darkhold Destiny set.
Marvel’s History of Heroes Details

The Secret Lair drop will cost $199.99, and will be available on November 2, 2026 through the Secret Lair website. It will come in a box made to look like a shoebox of sorts, or something you’d store comic books in. The cards will be individually sealed in their own plastic sleeves.
Additionally, there’s a chance of any of the cards within the drop to be randomly foil or surge foil versions. People who opened past Coundown Kits reported on average 1-2 surge foils per kit, with some people reporting as many as 6-7.

The * cards above, Beta Ray Bill and Doctor Strange, Master of Magic are uncommons from 2027’s Marvel: Darkhold Destiny.
A first glance at this drop reveals quite a few great reprints, and plenty of staples and valuable cards within. There are some big flavor wins here, too, like Rogue's Gloves and the Assassin’s Creed Mjölnir, Storm Hammer being repurposed as Marvel’s Thor’s hammer. Heroic Intervention shows up for the millionth time, and there are a couple duds in the set, like Fighter Class and With Great Power . . ..

Assuming the two new Darkhold Destiny uncommons won’t have any long-term value, that puts this kit at 15 cards currently worth $1 or less, making half the total kit financial duds. That’s par for the course with Countdown Kits, since they usually include enough top-heavy money cards to balance things out.
There are five big hits at or above $20 right now, and another six in the $5-20 range. In total, if you were to buy all the individual cards right now at their lowest available market price, you’d spend about $256. So about $50 over the sales price of the box, not counting tax, but also not taking into consideration the fact that some of these cards can randomly be traditional foils or surge foils, which likely makes them more valuable depending on the card.
