Mega Rare Serialized Reality Fracture Card Commands $3,000 Pricetag

With the release of Reality Fracture, those of you who have been able to get your hands on collector booster might have already been ripping open packs, hoping to find the headliner card of the set, a textless serialized foil version of Bloodline Recollector. For those of you lucky enough to open one, congratulations, because it's already selling for $3,000 USD. But will the price increase, or is it already selling for too much?

Bloodline Recollector

Bloodline Recollector is a sweet card regardless of special printings. A two drop with black Ancestral Recall stapled on to it is a cool card. I mean, how often do we get a headliner mythic rare card that can cast Ancestral Recall? Well, besides Emeritus of Ideation which was the headliner for Secrets of Strixhaven.

In theory, this card has the stuff to go the distance in constructed formats. Like I said, how often do you get a two drop that can draw you three cards? Certainly this effect is at a premium if there's a deck that can fully leverage it, and I don't doubt that there will be. And I wouldn't be surprised if this card popped up all over Commander, as there aren't really any other cards that do what Bloodline Recollector does.

The point of all of this is to say that this card has potential at a baseline. People will want this card, they will play this card. There will be demand for it, and that demand is what will make alternate printings, such as the no text serialized versions, all the more valuable.

Obviously if there are only a few hundred copies of a card in existence, the price is going to be higher. Even if no one really has any desire for it, the simple fact that there are limited copies means anyone who actually does want to get their hands on a copy will need to pay a premium. This is simple economics of supply and demand. And as I've stated before, this alternate printing of Bloodline Recollector isn't just in low supply, it's likely to be in high demand.

We see this reflected in the prices on websites like eBay where the card is being offered at anywhere between $2,300 USD up to $3,500 USD. This is a pretty big price range, but it's typical for these types of cards to start this way and then settle once the market agrees on a price. With so few cards being sold, each sale is a pretty big data point that can sway the barometer of demand, so the early days are pretty volatile.

As for where this price will ultimately end up is anyone's guess. It may be that the market has already chosen the proper range, and this version of Bloodline Recollector will end up settling at around $3,000 USD. Alternatively, to compare it to Emeritus of Ideation, a very similar card from a very recent set with the same card style, copies of that card are selling for a lot more, with printings going for anywhere from $4,100 USD to $6,000 USD, so averaging around $5,000 USD. This is a fair bit higher, and only time will tell whether this is a difference of demand, or if the price disparity is only an aberration.

With these collector cards from collector boosters, ultimately it's up to the collectors to determine price. If this card is desirable, it will go up. If collectors are indifferent, it won't. It's as simple as that. Overall, I imagine there would be interest though, as Wizards of the Coast has done all within their power to make sure the printing itself was interesting, and the card is also very interesting and desirable in terms of its gameplay. I suppose only time will tell, but if I had to guess, I would say that you'll see the price go up quickly with this card.
