Complete List of Reality Fracture’s Shattered Mirror Cards and Where to Find Them

If you’re superstitious at all, best to stay away from this one, because we’ll be breaking many, many mirrors. Well, Jace Beleren is technically responsible for all the mirror-breaking, so maybe the bad luck is all on him? What’s that now? He’s dead? Oh, well, I guess that puts us in the clear.

Shattered mirror cards are one of many novel inclusions in Reality Fracture, and they’re a really cool way to demonstrate the parallel universe concept of the set. They’ll also be some of the most sought-after cards in FRA, more so than most of the other card treatments and alternate versions.

Let’s take a peek into an alternate reality with these shattered mirror cards.

What Are the Reality Fracture Shattered Mirror Cards?

“Shattered Mirror” is a Booster Fun treatment for Reality Fracture that shows color-shifted versions of highly recognizable cards “peeking in” at their normal versions. These cards are illustrated with shattered shards of glass that reference the original versions they’re paying homage to.

For example, you’ve got the new Stingcaster Mage as an obvious reference to Snapcaster Mage, and you can see pieces of the original Snapcaster art in the glass shards on Stingcaster.

How Many Shattered Mirror Cards Are There?

Reality Fracture includes 13 shattered mirror cards (5 rare, 8 mythic), and they’re all alternate art versions of cards you can find in a traditional frame within the set.

It’s not inconceivable for Magic to use this card frame in the future, but for now it’s exclusive to Reality Fracture’s main set. The frame wasn’t used for the Multiverse Reforged Commander precon at all.

Where Can You Open Reality Fracture’s Shattered Mirror Cards?

Shattered mirror cards appear in Reality Fracture Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. Play Boosters have a 1% chance to yield a rare shattered mirror card in the pack’s normal rare slot, and a less than 1% chance for it to be a mythic rare. There are two slots in a Collector Booster that might contain one. Each slot has an 8.3% chance for a rare, or a 6.6% chance for a mythic. Those slots can be occupied by other Booster Fun treatments instead, like the Braintwister cards.

This also means any product that contains either booster type by proxy also has a chance to contain shattered mirror cards, so Bundles, Draft Night, and so on might have them in the boosters packaged within.

Can Shattered Mirror Cards Be Foil?

Yes, but most shattered mirror cards will be nonfoil, regardless of booster pack type. However, Collector Boosters have a chance to yield “facet foil” versions of these cards, though these are extremely rare, and the biggest chase cards in the set outside of the serialized Bloodline Recollector.

What Are Facet Foils?

Facet foils are special versions of the shattered mirror cards that have a unique foiling process for the glass shards in the cards’ artwork. They’re extremely rare, showing up in less than 1% of Collector Boosters for both regular rares and mythics.

According to WotC’s Collecting Reality Fracture article, there are only about 6,000 of each rare facet foil, and 3,000 of each mythic rare.

Are All Shattered Mirror Cards Borderless?

Yes, the shattered mirror cards all use a borderless card frame, though there are traditional, bordered versions of each of these cards in the set as well.

Best Reality Fracture Shattered Mirror Cards

#4. Kindred Judgment

I expect Kindred Judgment to get played at basically the same clip as Kindred Dominance. This is the one color-shifted card that didn’t actually have to change its effect at all, and the blueprint remains heavily played in Commander.

#3. Darklight Phoenix

A little bit of buzz surrounding Darklight Phoenix for Constructed. Its predecessor Arclight Phoenix has been a format-defining card since release, and this black phoenix might mimic its success for an entirely different archetype.

#2. Stingcaster Mage

Bolt-Sting-Bolt anyone? Stingcaster Mage looks like an excellent proactive card. Snapcaster Mage could always play that role too, but it had the flexibility of being more reactive. But haste and a removal spell is a great way to push damage for aggro decks.

#1. Craterclaw Colossus

Not hard to see Craterclaw Colossus ending its fair share of games, just like the ‘Hoof it pays respects to. Artifact decks are as prevalent as creature decks in this day and age, so if anything this might be an upgrade since it’s cheaper to cast.
