Bloodroot Apothecary (Bloomburrow Commander Decks) - art by Alessandra Pisano

The Magic card market didn't seem that interested in Marvel Super Heroes last weekโ€ฆ but with the new Universes Beyond MTG set arriving next week, things seem to have changed this Friday: Three of the biggest movers are all about MSH and MSC, and impacting more than one format.

Let's see who's playing hero this week!

Seeker of Skybreak

Seeker of Skybreak

Seeker of Skybreak saw a surge in demand during the weekend, trading close to 100 near-mint copies on Sunday (when it normally traded just one or two before that). The price for traded copies nearly tripled today compared with last Friday, from about $1.30 to over $4.75โ€ฆ and, at the time of writing, near-mint copies listed on TCGplayer sit north of $10.

This is actually a spike that players on the MTG financial subreddit saw coming. โ€œItโ€™s because of Hawkeye's Bow,โ€ wrote u/GeckoNova, referencing the upcoming artifact from MSH, in a thread discussing Seeker of Skybreakโ€˜s inventory drying up. And, as other redditors noted, it's all about Pauper behind this spike.

Hawkeye's Bow

But it probably helps that this green creature is no slouch in Commander, and even sees top-tier cEDH play!

Champions from Beyond

Champions from Beyond

With Marvel Super Heroes releasing next week, it seems that โ€œheroesโ€ is the key word behind Champions from Beyondโ€˜s spike.

This white enchantment is already somewhat popular in casual Commander, and has seen some recent cEDH success.

Captain America, Team Leader

But the recent price increase (more than doubling in the past week, from about $1 to over $2.30) seems tightly tied to hero synergies in general, and specifically with Captain America, Team Leader, the face commander from the Avengers Assemble Commander precon.

Bloodroot Apothecary (Extended Art)

Bloodroot Apothecary

As we reported last week, squirrel season seems to be in full swing! Last Friday, regular prints of Bloodroot Apothecary had jumped tenfold thanks to both The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and The Serpent Society.

The regular printing has cooled up a bit, now trading at about $5-$6โ€ฆ but the extended up version violently caught up, jumping from about $3 last Friday to nearly $11 at the time of writing.
