Wolverine, Best There Is | Illustration by Victor Adame Minguez

It looks like we've got some new leaks from the upcoming Marvel Super Heroes set, this time in the form of comic books. Yes, you heard that right, Wizards of the Coast is spoiling cards in special versions of comic books with Magic art on the covers (that's why these cards look like they're printed on paper). Apparently there might be more of these released in the coming days, so keep an eye out, but until then these four will have to be enough.

Wolverine, Fierce Fighter

Wolverine, Fierce Fighter is the only card among these that's from the main set, as indicated by its set symbol, and it has some interesting rules text going on. Firstly, he's a 3/5 haste that fights a creature when he enters, which is great but nothing out of the ordinary. It's that second ability that makes him so odd. It reads โ€œIf damage would be dealt to Wolverine, instead that damage is dealt, but all other damage already dealt to him is healed.โ€ The word โ€œhealedโ€ hasn't appeared in this context on a card before, but it has been in the rules text of the regenerate ability since they updated the rules a few years ago. Essentially, what this ability does is it prevents Wolverine from dying to damage unless it can kill him in one shot, so if you hit him with Lightning Bolt and a Shock, he will heal the damage from whichever one damaged him first and he'll survive. This synergizes with his enter the battlefield ability that lets him fight a creature, as it makes it safe to attack afterwards if he survives.

Hit-Monkey & Dark Ritual

Hit-Monkey is a fun one. He is just a keyword soup card, but it's a good combination of keywords that add up to be more than the sum of their parts. Being uncounterable is always good, and combining reach, vigilance, and deathtouch means that he can attack and still be a very effective blocker. Adding haste and hexproof to the mix, it means he's coming down and affecting the board right away, and if your opponent wants to deal with him, they're likely going to have to block it, which means they're going to lose at least one creature to the deathtouch. Overall, it's a well rounded card that reminds me a lot of Questing Beast.

We also got Dark Ritual, which is the only reprint among these cards. It's a powerful card that can be very good for certain combos, as accelerating your mana from one to three is something that few other cards are capable of, especially in black.

The Fantastic Four

The final card is also perhaps the most exciting we've seen so far: The Fantastic Four. This looks like it's going to be the face commander of the eponymous Fantastic Four commander pre-con, which if true means that there will be a staggering five total options for your commander in this deck, as Wizards of the Coast has already revealed Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. This card lives up to its name, bringing along four abilities to choose from whenever you cast a spell with power, toughness, or mana value 4, although It's perhaps a bit too reminiscent of Aragorn, the Uniter. There are only so many ways to do a four color commander, but The Fantastic Four still looks like it will be a lot of fun to play, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the most popular commander from this set.

Wrap Up

With these cards being spoiled, it feels like the hype train for Marvel Super Heroes is finally leaving the station. The set will be fully released on June 26, 2026, and we can expect official spoilers to start rolling out in early June. This is a full-sized set with multiple commander decks, a bonus sheet, alternate artwork, and an accompanying Jumpstart product with plenty of its own cards, so there will be a lot of cards to reveal. It seems like excitement is high for this set, especially since it was announced that it would be fully on arenaโ€“no Through the Omenpaths required. If these four cards are any indication of the overall quality of the set, then it looks like it's going to be a good one.
