Squishful Thinking Secret Lair Promo | source: wizards
Looks like Magic: The Gathering is teaming up with Extra Life for another awesome Secret Lair drop. These have been smash hits in the past, and the latest peek at the Extra Life Secret Lair looks to be in the running for one of the best Secret Lair drops produced so far. That is, if you don't might getting a little Play-Doh stuck in your carpet.
Play-Doh x MTG

According to multiple sources on Reddit, the Secret Lair website posted an image advertising this Play-Doh themed drop, but took it down very shortly after. Thankfully, Redditors never leave without receipts, and the image was posted all over social media Monday morning.

Extra Life is a fundraiser program that uses gaming as a means to raise money for facilities within the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, where the money funds health care and treatments for children. Wizards of the Coast has collaborated with them for over 10 years now, recently raising money through special and highly memorable Secret Lair drops. The Extra Life website lists Magic: The Gathering as their highest contributor of 2025, having raised over $2,000,000, with Dungeons & Dragons in second place with over $500,000 in donations.
The Lair is STACKED with awesome reprints: Polyraptor, Greensleeves, Maro Sorcerer, Academy Manufactor, and Wurmcoil Engine are all hihgly playable, and the value is good too!
Good Cards for a Good Cause
Secret Lairs have always been judged on two main axes: How good is the art/theming, and how valuable are the cards relative to the price of the Secret Lair? Those metrics aren't irrelevant for these drops, but they're certainly less important when you're talking about raising money for children. That said, the previous Extra Life Secret Lairs have been total bangers.

Secret Lair has collaborated with Extra Life multiple times in the past. The first of these was Extra Life 2020, which was printed during Secret Lair's infancy, and included new art versions of Teferi's Protection, Consecrated Sphinx, Collected Company, and Amulet of Vigor. The bonus card was one of 36 different stained-glass War of the Spark planeswalkers that were randomly inserted into Secret Lairs at the time.

Extra Life 2021 included children's drawings of Craterhoof Behemoth, Mulldrifter, and Metalwork Colossus, with Questing Phelddagrif as a bonus card. This and the following drop also included alternate versions of each card recreated by professional artists.

Extra Life 2022 followed up with a drop containing Birds of Paradise, Sliver Legion, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and a bonus Maro, the latter being illustrated by Mark Rosewater himself.

Ponies: The Galloping 2 | Extra Life 2023 was a sort of sequel to Ponies: The Galloping from 2019, which predated Secret Lair. This follow-up expanded the number of My Little Pony cards in MTG, and included Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack, with Discord, Lord of Disharmony as a bonus card.

Pixel Perfect | Extra Life 2024 featured cards using Fblthp as a side-scrolling character in pixelated art reminiscent of old school video games. It included Mana Geyser, Lightning Bolt, Fierce Guardianship, and Delayed Blast Fireball, with Solve the Equation as the bonus card depicting Fblthp's triumph over Nicol Bolas.
Not only is the collaboration sweet and inspired to begin with, but Wizards seems keen on juicing the contents of these Extra Life drops as an incentive to buy them and, in turn, help out the Extra Life cause.
